Nothing like a bit of sibling rivalry on a rugby pitch.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
Everything updated but I might have to cancel some players.
J.P.R Williams
Moss Keane
Bill Beaumont
They were 70's players, but also played a couple of year's in the 80's they may be legends but were the early 80's there prime years?
Those three might be a bit risky, as I have told people to rate players in there primes, J.P.R Williams only played two years in the 80's while Beaumont did the same and Keane around four.
I don't know whether to allow those trio

They all played test rugby in the 80's Bear, not sure how you can disallow them to be honest.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
Keane played up till 1984 for Ireland. Played all the games when Ireland won their triple crown + five nations in 1982 (i think). And scored his only try for Ireland in 81!!
Beaumont played till 1982 and career was cut short by injury and led England to the 1980 Grand Slam!!

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
Ummm, I might be able to allowed Moss Keane, but J.P.R Williams and Beaumont im having second thoughts.
If they played test rugby in the only two 80's years they played I guess I will have to allow them.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
Thing is Bear those players are a risk to have, due to the younger guys maybe not knowing them so well, so if people want to take that risk with borderline players then that should be up to them.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
Those three are just a bit before my time, mostly 70's is not really my thing that's why I didn't want to push the game far into the 70's or 60's even.
Luke - Loosehead Prop, Winger, Lock number 4 & 5, full-back and blindside flanker needed.
Bathite - Hooker, Inside Centre, Scrum-Half and fly-half needed
Myself - Number 8

prop, I would love to see the Pontypool front row against todays top front rows, I reckon they would scrummage the living Poopie out of todays props. Maybe not as great in the loose as some of todays finest, but great players nonetheless.

prop I have a sneaking suspicion that you may go for the 10 that I want, don't think anyone else will.

Yeah pete I'd love to see some of the modern props try to out scrummage teams who can stick your head up your bum!! That's one good thing about not playing in a high league, I can get away with more tricks at prop and hooker!!

Very nearly went for hugo porta at fh! Reckon him and Dominguez would be great signings. Decided that the Lynagh/Horan double WC winning combo was too much to ignore!

Randell is a great shout. The AB's have had so many great number 8's and Kieran Read could add himself to that list with a fantastic World Cup.

Just a loosehead, both locks and blindside for you Luke.
Would people count Randell as an 8 just to clear things up, like the Dallaglio thing earlier?

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
I would really have liked to have been able to pick 70's players. Watched so many videos and dvd's about 70's rugby I could make a decent fist of mastermind with it.
I'd have paid the world for Fergus Slattery and David Duckham

You could well go for Fergus Slattery as he played some games in the 80's.
David Duckham is a no though.

Would have loved if we were doing 70's as well Steve, would have opened up all sorts of possibilities, including all of the Legendary 1974 Lions.

Gutted that I lucked out being so far down the order for front row players. Forward play in particular the set piece is my favourite part of the game.

Luke, Bathite and pullthestrings just to come on then hopefully we can fly through after them.

Pete I'm 16. I had to look around to find players that were good. That's why I will probably come out with a few weird picks. The lists help me remember players.

Lol, I was only pulling yer leg man, I very nearly made up lists for each position myself but just didn't have time having spent the best part of two days dealing with a woman who set fire to her house with herself and her child inside!
And nothing wrong with a bit of research, hopefully you'll have seen some of the players that I've picked, as at least a couple of them would have retired before you were even born.

Can't pick your lock yet, because you never know Luke may want Jack.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
Lewsey played most of his England games at full-back 28 at full-back in fact, while he played 26 matches for England on the wing.
Will let you have him as he played full-back for Wasps aswell.
Toughie though to decide on where to play him.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
Wasn't anybody else I could think of really apart from the odd New Zealand full-back and an English one.
inthefastlane was online a couple of mins ago and now gone off again, said he would pick later though so that's cool.
Weekends are slow and boring though tbh, you just have to be patient hon your next in line for a few positions.
