The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Right lads/lasses as we are on the subject - Lapdog to TV connection. How seemples is it ? Is it just a case of whacking the correct cable into the Lapdog at one end and the TV at the other, or do we need special software ?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Jesus today just gets worse
Reality TV daredevil and Jackass star Ryan Dunn was killed in a car accident in the early hours of this morning.
The 34-year-old died in a one car collision near his home in West Goshen, Pennsylvania at around 3.30am following a night out with friends.
An unknown man was also in the car at the time and was also pronounced dead at the scene.
As yet, the cause of the accident and the circumstances leading up to it are not yet known but just hours before the accident, Ryan had tweeted a picture of himself with two male friends, all of whom were holding what appeared to be alcoholic beverages.
Ryan rose to fame as part of the stunt crew for the MTV show Jackass, which ran from 2000 to 2002.

it’s just that simple Pete.
Plug one end in the lap dog, the other end in the tv. Then switch the TV to the “PC” channel. You might see nothing at first and have to share your display with the tv manually, on most (but not all computers) the shortcut to share the display is fn+F7.
It’s dead simple once you do it the first time and it’s as handy as a small pot!

If you have HDMI output from the laptop then sound is done through the same cable.

I knew I could take my laptop battery out, but didn't realise there was any benefit. My battery is completely knackered now. Then again my whole laptop is knackered, a new one is definitely on my shopping list.

Poor van der Westhauzian has it too I'm glad Munster are trying to get recognition for the disease.

Yeah, it's great to see all the players out doing the cycle and raising awareness. Still a very sad day for his family, his friends and all his colleagues at Munster Rugby.

I can picture them cycling away in the rain today down the country roads in Tipperary. I'd say its a very solemn cycle after the celebrations and antics of last nights Music Evening they had for him.

Ha, they just installed a flat screen tele in one of the meeting rooms there because it’s too small for a projector.

I don't know how many people follow football, but this story has just popped up on the BBC. FIFA vice-president Jack Warner has resigned.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13845203.stm
"Presumption of innoncence is maintained"? Unbelievable.

"As a consequence of Mr Warner's resignation, all ethics committee procedures against him have been closed and the presumption of innocence is maintained," said a Fifa statement.

Good to be home but I'm knackered...that must be a good sign. I think I've got a cold coming though
That's very sad to hear Paul Darbyshire's died.
As for Wimbledon, all I can say is WTF was Venus Williams wearing? I thought they'd banned stupid outfits from Wimbledon cause everyone had to wear the obligatory whites?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Good aft regs.
Just have to say this. When ever I see an Irishman, Irishwoman or a combined Irish team, play sport at the highest level and succeed, I don't see flags. Felt the exact same way about Mary Peters, when she on Olympic Gold. Was so proud of her. Felt the same way about Barry McGuigan, when he became World Boxing Champ. Felt the same way, when Alex Higgins won the World snooker Championship for the 2nd time.
Felt the same way when Ken Doherty and Dennis Taylor won theirs. Exact same feeling. When Sonia and Eamon ran the legs off the rest of the world. When Stephen Roach and Sean Kelly were at the top of World bike-racing. When we won the SLAM - together. All magic moments for me as a Paddy.
Felt the same way, when I saw the magic of George Best, Liam Brady, Paul McGrath and Mike Gibson play soccer and rugby and light up a pitch. And I was so proud of OUR Rory last night. We are far too small, Globally-insignificant and interwoven as a race - to be anyway divisive now. Specially in the 21st century. Time to really use sport to do that and show the politicos the way forward. Together. Openly supporting and openly backing - each others sporting stars, will only help to improve that, over time.
Forget the flags. All these people are Irish and Irish sport and the country as an entity, has benefitted from every one of them in so many ways, over the years. It helps to bind us together and lift us - under one cause. That, is an indisputable fact whenever you see rugby at Lansdowne. And that's what really matters here.
I mean, look at us lot. 35 years ago it would not have been the done thing for me to be shown the beauty and warmth of Northern Ireland by great people like MrsP, Rava and Notch and Scotty. Micky T, Stag, Mickado, Huggie, et all - also. Wearing Leinster shirts. And actually surviving the trip.
The younger Irish regs may find this hard to understand now and take it all for granted. But believe me, it's true. I was at a soccer match with my Da, at Winsdor Park - in the 70's and we had to be escorted to our trains for safety. I just remember being scared shiitless as a kid. The hatred was palpable. No way we could have stopped off at a bar and had the best craic ever. All that is near gone now.And sport did its bit.
How far we have come in a brief time - for me anyway.
I feel really strongly about this. Ive seen and experienced too much divisive shoite over the years, for me not to be. Id expect the edcuated young Irish people - especially, to understand that and help it grow more. Forget the flags and see the person. Even if he does play for GB in the Olympics. I dont care. Why shouldn't he? Because that person is Northern Irish. Body and soul. He will also play for Ireland in golf and hopefully, we'll win another Golf World Cup.
If he was from Munster, you can bet we would have seen a few Munster flags flown. Same with Leinster. And I have to include Connacht, or Ummm, will sign on and have me... Forget the flags. They can either be divisive, or just used to show what province you come from - with pride..
Gibbo rant over.
Believe.

Shhit. (emptys wardrobe) What should I go with then? A yellow bra? Or black pants? And I dont have a white jump-suit.
I have a 70's-type , Addidas turquoisey-one. Will that do? With red boxing-shoes?

Brilliant man, just brilliant. You said it all perfectly. The one thing that really burns me up is the state of football. It's so far behind all the other sports, but the IFA would cut off their nose to spite their face so... no surprise. NI football is in a state. Now players are even defecting across the border! Imagine Georgie Best or Pat Jennings, with the best players from all of Ireland around them. Such a waste.
Got the local news on- it's Rory central. Love it
Darren Clarke has pulled out of a tournament because he wants to be there when McIlroy makes his 'homecoming'. Brilliant. Can't wait to see what he does next...

Has anyone heard of Akinator? It's basically online 20 questions (though I'm not sure if there's a limit). It asks for a username, but just type anything in there. It's a good laugh, and I just saw one of my friends talking about it.

Thought I'd go topical and it just got Rory McIlroy in 12 questions!

Fair enough Stag. You have that feeling or you havent and you are just being honest in your opinion. I respect that.
Can I be honest here too? I think Roy Keane is a thug and a disgrace to his country. Whenever I hear him speak, I have to turn it off. There are very few sporting (or otherwise) people, whom I despise - but he tops the list.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Rodders, I'll be honest. I'm starting to get a bit tired of being told I'm negative and depressing and the implication that there is something intrinsically wrong with the way I think.
In sports where Northern Ireland and Ireland exist as two separate entities I am of course going to be more attached to Ireland. In sports like rugby where it isn't an issue it won't.
George Best played 37 times for Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland play against my team. In fact they did so not even 2 weeks ago in a cup game. As much as I can appreciate him as a fellow Irishman, the fact is there are dozens of players that have meant more to me.

I have seriously never, ever met an Irishman who doesn't love George Best. Whenever I go to Dublin if I get an Irish taxi driver he always waxes lyrical about George Best. One of them said he and his friends used to go up to Belfast when they were younger to watch Best play for Northern Ireland- and that was when it was a big deal to cross the border.
You don't like dogs, George Best or Halle Berry- what on earth is next?
I have to agree with rodders, I think it's an absolutely awful attitude. And I really don't understand it. You'll shout for Ulster players for ireland, you've said Ulster are your favourite province outside of Munster- yet you feel this way. You know they have one of those NI flags on the wall of the dressing room of Ravenhill right? And yet when those men go out to play for Ireland they give every single thing they have, they strain with every fibre of their being, to win for their country.
Because they're proud to be Irish, and Ireland should be proud of them. Just like they should be proud of R-Mac or Bestie or anyone else. Rugby is NOT different to almost any other sport. If any sport is different, it's football. Football is the exception not the rule.
I mean, when they have the international rules series between Ireland and Australia, do you just pick out the guys from the Republic? Wouldn't be much without Tyrone like! And if you'll support them- if you'll support the Ulster players in the Ireland team- why wouldn't you support Irish athletes from Ulster in other sports?
And by the way, George Best was an advocate for a United Ireland football team. I wish he had seen it before he died.

And it's worth making the point that the association for golf in Ireland, The Golfing Union of Ireland, is an ALL IRELAND association.
So you're assertion that in golf Ireland is seperate is false. McIlroy has in fact represented Ireland in the World Cup!
I'm sure this is just a WUM now- I know you're too smart to think like this
You've had us all going to be fair.
