The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Unable to calculate the number of gigs I've put on, let alone been to, but the last one I went to,don't laugh, cos they're pals, Status Quo, were flogging programmes for 10 yoyos, and they were being snapped up:youmake your money where you can
Whatsmore, the concert was in France, the programme in Ingleeesh

You should go. The real rule of thumb for music is if you don't know anything about it- go to it.
I've been to everything from Drum n Bass nights to Irish Trad. Sessions, Free Improv to Pop-Rock, Free Jazz to BeBop, African Acapella Choirs to State-funded orchestras, experimental electronica to folk nights, intimate acoustic nights to full-blown stadium gigs, HipHop to Blues Rock, Baroque chamber music to cutting edge Acousmatic concerts.
You NEED to do that to figure out the fullest exent of who you are musically and what you react to most strongly. I've been to so many gigs I have hated and those are the ones that have been most important in my development as a musician and as a listener. We aren't born knowing how to listen to music you know- it's a lifelong learning process.
So get involved! Break open the dam that contains all the infinite possibilities the world of music holds and drift away on the wave. You live but once! So make it a good time

Music, like Life - is a learning process. It all is. Its a wonderful thing if you let it in, give it a listen and always keep open to new experiences and possibilities. Immerse yourself in it. And keep and cherish the bits you like. You can only fully realise those, if you try and taste everything else 1st though. I love it all. Well maybe except Celine Dion.

My brother loved going to gigs he went to many over the years but that would probably explain his dependence on hearing aids in his late 30s

Oh I've been to my fair share of all sorts of gigs, just not a classical concert. To be honest I'd feel a bit strange going to one of them on my own; but other gigs are OK to go to alone or with company.

The smell would be a giveaway. Also, parts of her face would be falling off.
Is / was Pam Ayers really that rude, Cymro? I've heard some of her stuff and it's risque in a saucy postcard sort of way, but nothing obscene. Maybe her hardcore stuff never made it onto the telly.

red_stag wrote:A question: Rugby programmes. Do you bother buying them. I have to say I haven't bought one in years. I was going through my closet recently and found a heap of old ones with some pretty enjoyable games - Munster v Gloucester (Miracle Match) being one - but I found myself thinking what a waste of money
I buy a programme for every game I attend where possible. I don't keep any of them. I've a couple of friends who are collectors. I'm like Notch I need something to read at half-time. Kept the one and the ticket from the first game at New Landsdowne for a good friend. He was made up when I gave it to him. Bless him.
Evening all. Won't mention names cause I will forget someone. Mustn't forget Miss Cari's burfday this weekend. I'll treat myself to a bit of and a small glass of champers.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Basically, the UK and other country's banks, have a lot of shekels invested in Greece and in its future. They default... then Portugal... and maybe Spain now.. Confidence in the Euro drops. That Poopie spreads round the World.International banks playing hardball with each other. Markets go doo-lally. For the UK, it gets worse. 40% of ALL business is done with the EU.
We are a bit more phhoked if you like. Really phhoked.
Unless the Germans and French come to the rescue. Along with Britain. Its in all their greater-interests, to do so.
As, could explain it better. But that's it really. I reckon.

I'm grand Gibbo.
Cakes just seem to appear in this other place I'm working in. Someone's always bringing them in. Really good bunch of people there though. I wouldn't be disappointed if I got moved there permanently, but who knows where I'll be in a few months.
The nine o'clock starts have been weird. I seem to have a lot of time in the morning before actually starting work.
