The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Jayzuz Notch, sure that would scare de Divil himself.
We were having a bash in London once and two Jehovas knocked at the door. MrsG was trying to tell them "to feic off, we were busy" but still they persisted. So I invited them in for a drink (they dont drink), offered them a spliff and some gentle advice. They looked around, saw what was happening and they ran out of the place. It was one of those hedonistic punk parties. Oh how we laffed. Bless em.

Apparently, when I was about 4, some Jehovas came to the house. My Mam just plugged the hoover on so she could pretend she couldn't hear them at the door.
Cue me turning the hoover off and yelling to my Mam there were people outside. Little that I was.

No probs Notchy
I had a great laugh with these two Jehovahs once. It was absolutely urine-ing rain and these two called. I was about 17 and off sick from school.
I invited them in and they got all preachy and bibly. I told them I wasn't in any way shape of form interested in talking about religion but they were welcome to have a cup of tea until rain stopped.
Yer man got a bit offended by this remark at start but the girl said thank you very much and they spend next 25 minutes just talking to me about South Africa where they were from and how they found Ireland, irish people etc. I gave them a bit of advise about picking their targets when it comes to talking about God.

I bet you were sent to bed with no supper Dreamer.
Kids are great. They say it like it is. My kids have got me in more shoite.
But I learned to listen to them. Trust their instinctive judgment. Something we ignore sometimes, as we grow older. They taught me a lot about certain people in the past. They could sense a dodgy geezer immediately.
Just as well I was their Da. I got away with it. I think.
And Rav,
I didnt mean NOW! I meant when we were kids.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Just had an idea for Standulsterman when he pops in. I'd be willing to donate a piece of 606 memorabilia to his pub, the NH jersey I got on the street in Cardiff has been signed by all of the pub regs, it would be cool with me if he wanted to stick it up. Then each reg could pledge to make a pilgrimage to see the 606 "shrine" once in their lifetime.
5 times a day, no matter where we are in the world, we would all face the pub and pray...
...hmmm, let me rethink this...

Rodders,
That runkeeper is an app for iPhones etc that links to a website. Basically it tracks your activity and then logs the details. So for example I went for a four mile run yesterday and when I'd finished it told me things like how far I'd gone, how fast, average speed and other things. While your running, every five mins it tells you how fast you're going and how far you've gone. I like it because it makes me push on when I hear my speed has dropped.
Anyway, think I'll take a leave of absence from this place. The Internet I have again is rubbish and a man can only be basically ignored so much everytime I try to get in here.
Munsty, thanks for saying about the laptop to tv thing. I think mine is different, but at least I know where to start. I look forward to seeing your pics at the weekend. I saw most of the ones of me. Very funny. Most of them I don't think I knew were being taken.

Morning All
Dull start here today. Pished down last night. Must be coming up to the start of Festival season then.
Awh don't do that Mickado. That shirt is meaningless to everyone else but to you it's a happy memory...isn't it? The only advantage of it being put up in Stan's pub, is that being a Saints shirt it wouldn't get nicked Look, I know it was distressing swapping your Leinster shirt Mick, but seriously, do you need counselling for your grief? Giving away the Saints shirt isn't going to help. I think you need to deal with the loss. You're like a child who's lost its security blanket

I didnt actually have a problem with the joke, it was just the casual racism that followed.
For the record - I have no problems with where people were born and who they represent (I was born in Spain but am Welsh). I just pointed it out there were so many!

Mick - I reckon that's a really good idea about the Saint shirt actually, it's a great pub tour momento. Would be fitting for it to be in a pub I reckon

You're spot on Cari, it was a traumatic incident for me. Just coming to terms with it now! I'm working from home today, woke up super late and had the laptop with me so decided to work from home. Bore da pawb / good morning all, hope we're all well. It's grey here on the docks this morning. Doesn't feel like summer at all, despite it being the summer solstice today.
I presume everyone's seen Munsty's photos on Bookface. They're brilliant - the boy has a talent there. I found I couldn't comment on them though, for some reason.

Chicago is cool. You could spend a wee while walking around looking for all the Blues haunts. There has always been blues in that city and still is.

Thom, it's quite clean, much less crowded than NY, and full of good steak joints and pizza places. Plus, as Notch said, you can't beat a little blues now and againt. But man, it's humid, I'm like a waterfall before I've walked twenty paces!
