The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great current props' pictures on the bar. We've got Castrogiovanni, Beast, the Franks brothers, Mas, Tonga'uiha, Roncero, Cian Healey (as demanded by Hughie), Stevens, Murray, Mike Ross, Adam Jones and Steenkamp all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Was it from one of our Irish lads, Staggy? We still have Hayes, Andress and Steenson, and over the years, we've had McKenzie, Tuohy, Stevenson and Gracered_stag wrote:Asbo - i was at a pub quiz yesterday and there was a signed Exeter Chiefs jersey on the wall. Nice one too.

A lovely day, MrsP - took the kids to school, went to the British Museum to just focus on a couple of rooms for an hour or two, met a mate for lunch, picked the kids up from school, fell asleep on the couch mid-homework, and had a surprise visit from a Dutch pal in the evening. H-b'day to little PMrsP wrote:Lying about your age AGAIN Asbo?

Actually, it was one of the little Ps Bday too.

Mine wandered off years ago!
Well, I've just had a weight lifted from my shoulders: it's a work-related thing and difficult / boring to explain, but let's just say I'd been worrying unnecessarily!

Awh that's a great feeling isn't it Lucky?
I'm still waiting to hear about redeployment. I shouldn't complain cause I'm still getting paid and coming to work, but I've no work to do

It's a great feeling, Cari. Relief is lush.
I don't have too much work to do at the moment either - it comes in fits and starts, and not that often. But as you say, I'm getting paid regardless so it's really not that bad.

True. We shouldn't complain. I think this is just the calm before the storm really. If I do get redeployed to the other place (in Newport) it'll be whole new challenge for me. A completely different job.
Anyway, it gives me the chance to come on here and talk shoite as well

No idea. They wanted it sorted sooner rather than later. Trouble is all our HR is now done through a centralised service centre and there's been loads of complaints about the length of time it's taking to sort things out. It could be a while....

Great to hear that your worry has been removed.
Cari,
Will you stay in your current home or do you see yourself moving closer to the new job if that is what happens?

Hmm, sometimes being in limbo is worse than not knowing one way or the other. At least the World Cup'll be going on for a while yet, which is a decent enough distraction!

That's quite a generalisation, isn't it? But then I shouldn't be surprised, Irishmen always make generalisations.
In fairness, that's a massive, nay - a huge, no, I mean a humongous generalisation, in itself.
Don't forget exaggeration as well Lucky. We are pre-programmed to double or triple everything to suit our purpose. Good or bad. Just sayin...
P.S. I love you.

Thanks, Mrs P.
They're playing 'Enjoy the Silence' by Depeche Mode on the radio. I'm not the fan of theirs but that's a brilliant record.
Gibbo, I though as much.

Lucky - yes, I just feel more like a spare part at the moment, and have far too much time on my hands to think a lot, which is dangerous...
MrsP - no, I won't have to move. It's only half an hour on a bus straight there.

Really liked Depeche Mode. There is a Bar in Tallin called the Depcehe Mode. Yes, everything in it, was related to them or their music (walls, ceiling, floor, cocktail drink names etc) and they only played their music. Nothing else. Ok for one night but...

Do you think that is a good thing or a bad thing Glas?
Why is it different in the NH than the SH?
Is it because they play each other more often and in a much smaller pool?

The rivalry extends off the rugby field a lot more here MrsP. England are the common denominator.
Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Italy and France have all been at war with England at one stage or another.

Äverage ref experience for the Provinces matches so far:
Munster = 18 games
Leinster = 18 games
Ulster = 22 games
Connacht 6 games... And 3 Italians in 5 weeks!
Good job I don't believe in conspiracy theories.

Pretty meaningless only 5 weeks into a 22 week season, though. It'll all even out.
Well, probably.

A couple of seasons ago Ulster seemed to be getting more than their fair share of... ...less experienced refs.
I brought it up at the time and was shot down in flames.

Man, we may pay for zis. IF we get by the Italians that is. Who are reknowned War cowards.
The French... as for the French. Its doesn't need saying really.
The Irish called the War - The Emergency. Yeah roysh.
Anyone left? Oh yeah... the Scots. They wear frocks and don't really count.
There will be some fierce NH Pub-tussles if all goes to plan...
Love it.

What is it about skangers that they all share the same squinty face? I mean, they hang around bus stops asking people for smokes and abusing you if you refuse but they're not exactly a "race", so how do they all look the same.
