The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great current props' pictures on the bar. We've got Castrogiovanni, Beast, the Franks brothers, Mas, Tonga'uiha, Roncero, Cian Healey (as demanded by Hughie), Stevens, Murray, Mike Ross, Adam Jones and Steenkamp all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

And all he ever wanted to do was to put Liverpool in his wake. League catch up is done. European Cup record - he will never pass

Morning all Last day in work today then off till next week. Love the way random conversations happen in the workplace. Three grown men disscussing classic late 80's era Neighbours! Henry, Plain Jane, Mrs Mangle etc. Stating that if you didn't cry at Daphne's death then you had a heart of stone...

Bore da pawb / good morning all!
Breadvan, everyone watched Neighbours in those days, it was a phenomenon. My dad didn't really watch it properly but he pretended he was in love with Mrs Mangle, which we as children thought was hilarious.

Morning All
Breadvan - I remember half my class were late for afternoon registration because we'd gone to a pals house nearby to watch Scott and Charlene's wedding at lunchtime cause we couldn't wait for the tea time repeat. We all got detention for that.

According to my Rugby World World Cup Calendar, there's a match on this morning between Georgia and someone else. Anyone watching it?

You know the song 'I Touch Myself' by the Divinyls? It's a great song; but given the lyrics, I doubt it would have been a hit if a bloke had been singing it.

Most of our year were always late for lessons in the afternoon because we were watching the lunchtime episodes at the youth club!

Ha yeah Mickado! The teachers were mortified that we'd skipped school for it. They just didn't understand....I can't listen to that Angry Anderson song without cringing now mind "Suuuuuddenly, every part of me...needs to knooooow every part of youuuuuu!"
I've got some extra spends in my wages this month and I'm going to buy myself the Welsh-red Irish shirt. I really like it
Lucky - I can't stand that song. The woman's singing through her nose.

Georgia vs Romania today Cari. Georgia are winning 19-6 in a very abrasive, physical game. I start at 10 today, so just enough time to watch the second half before I head in

I used to watch Dinas. Never really watched Pobol y Cwm. I used to watch Coronation Street, too. But now I'm soap-free, like Nivea for men sensitive facewash.

Lucky - I remember Dinas, but I never watched it. They had a drama on a while back called Caerdydd - which was kind of like a late night soap about people living down the Bay. I didn't really get into that though. Drama is one thing S4C does well fair play to them.

The Dragons haven't named their side to face Ulster yet (according to the BBC) but Tonderai Chavhanga is going to get his first start, apparently.

It seems like in some games the TJs are more involved than others, is that because the TJs are more forthcoming or because some individual refs would rather make their own mind up?
I always think Wayne Barnes seems to ask the TJs a lot.

Injuries and players away have hit us pretty hard, it's true. But then again, it's only Ulster.
Have you had your proper scannable season ticket yet? I haven't.

Just a long running issue I have. If the Ospreys want more supporters to attend games, walk on prices should be cheaper, say aboot £10 to sit in the south stand?

How much does a season ticket cost?
I think there’s a danger of charging less to casual fans than to your hardcore who’ve stumped up for a ST in advance.

I agree with Mick. I think that some fans have ridiculous expectations borne out of their experiences with amatuer rugby.
Obviously if you are used to rugby being an amatuer game where you pay a few quid and get in, its a shock to pay 20-25 for a match.

£155 cheapest adult. Ok, maybe a bit liberal with a ten spot but walk up prices should be less than £20. Especially if its behind the sticks.

The Ospreys have to charge quite a bit for tickets so they can pay the wages of their Galacticos like, er, Cai Griffiths.

Right, gotcha, but if the full price of a ticket was a tenner, then charging a tenner would still be full whack

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Staggy - £20 is cheap! I've paid nearer £35 before - that's for a good seat though and booking fee.
Why do people moan about the price of rugby tickets? I bet premiership football tickets cost a small fortune, and most rugby tickets cost less than big gigs these days.

My point exactly Cari.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
£155?
So that covers 11 Pro12 games and 3 HC games?
14 games at 155 notes = £11
You want people who walk up to the gates to pay a tenner for a ticket? That’s madness, they’d lose all their STH’s!
Season Tickets are a god send to a club, it allows them to forecast their yearly earnings better and not live fist to mouth financially.

Exactly Mick. Make season tickets the most attractive option and if people are reluctant to commit they pay extra.
You go to more games, you pay less per game. Its a fair deal.

£155 is good for a season ticket. I'm assuming that the was Early Bird offer, it may be more for others.

No, nonsense. If you tell somebody to pitch up £155 it a big figure. Tell them they can walk up to each match for £10 and that's a small figure, even though the difference if they attend every match is marginal. Also every match is not worth the same to the fan. he will see himself paying £11 to see Connaught or Munster in there and think, "well, that's a waste of money to start". Also he knows that he does not need to hold a season ticket to guarantee his seat, there will always be walk up tickets, there is no game that they will run out for.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
No you say that its £25 to walk up and buy a ticket. Or that if you show your committment to the team you'll only pay £11 per ticket.
Otherwise nobody will bother buying season tickets, nobody will go to see the weaker games and they will all turn up to see the big matches. Makes no sense and creates huge financial risk.

Oh glas on separate note, which Welsh coach was it that said that you should change a winning team and keep a losing team.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Carwyn James.
Stag and Mick - I don't agree with being able to buy privileges. If they play well, enough people will walk up to see them to keep them afloat. If they thought more about how to attract the walk up fan instead of pandering to the season ticket types they may actually make some money.

Pandering?
To the people who make a commitment to the club and fork out 155 quid up front?
I think they have a duty to the STH’s.
But I also think you’re just being argumentative for the sake of it.
