The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great current props' pictures on the bar. We've got Castrogiovanni, Beast, the Franks brothers, Mas, Tonga'uiha, Roncero, Cian Healey (as demanded by Hughie), Stevens, Murray, Mike Ross, Adam Jones and Steenkamp all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Stag and Mick - I don't agree with being able to buy privileges. If they play well, enough people will walk up to see them to keep them afloat. If they thought more about how to attract the walk up fan instead of pandering to the season ticket types they may actually make some money.
But isn't that like the incentives banks have to attract new customers while neglecting the loyal customer who's been banking with them all their life?

Afternoon all, hope everyone's well
Stunner of a day here in the Diff.
Anyone know what the final score was in the rugby earlier?

I think all of us do.
It’s kind of how capitalism works, and how you’re able to use the money that you earn to buy goods and/or services.

Coincidentally, I'm listening to a discussion on the radio now about good capitalism and bad capitalism....

Here, has everyone seen this story about the All Blacks might have to pull out of the next world cup? That could be awkward if they won this one:

You want people who walk up to the gates to pay a tenner for a ticket? That’s madness, they’d lose all their STH’s!
Season Tickets are a god send to a club, it allows them to forecast their yearly earnings better and not live fist to mouth financially.
17 games probably. 2 LV and at least 1 friendly.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Fair enough Rev, but they really are throwaway games. In the Leinster season ticket you get admission to all the A games for free. That’s just a bonus though, it’s a side note to the competitive games, I’m sure with the O’s season ticket it’s the same.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yeah they are throwaway games right enough. Just highlighting the value really.
I don't see why season ticket holders shouldn't pay less than walk up people. In fact if the Dragons offered tickets for a fiver, I'd be rather put out given that I've lumped out £160 for my ST.

Just had to laugh...someone on the radio was complaining about youngsters today going to gigs taking drugs, drinking....and then he ended with "...and some of them don't even clean their shoes!" Kids today, eh? Terrible! Dirty shoes! take 'em off!

Exactly, you made a committment to the Dragons and have guaranteed that they will have money coming in. You've made things easier for Dragons and should be rewarded.
I made no such committment to Munster and it makes sense to me that I should therefore pay more and maybe next season when I have more time I may consider a season ticket.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
When I was in the first year of comprehensive we went on a school trip to France to stay with pupils of the Breton school we were twinned with*. On the morning we were due to head off to Portsmouth for the ferry I woke up to find that my mum had cleaned my daps and they were beautifully white. At the time it was deeply uncool to have spotlessly clean trainers. I was gutted, but I felt a bit better when I got to school and discovered that my friend's mum had done exactly the same with his trainers.
* I know it should be 'with which we were twinned,' but that sounds quite noncy.

Working hard Cari, but just ending my lunch break.
No live rugby for me this weekend. Ealing are at Wharfedale (Yorks), and Wasps are even further away in Geordieland...on frikkin Sunday
So that's our two furthest away games being back to back weekends, and both games on Sunday. Cheers PRL

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
This why he is called the Doctor(from BBC)
He said: "If Scotland wins without a bonus point and denies England a bonus point and we don't win with a bonus point, we all finish with 14 points.
"If Scotland beats them without a bonus point to England, it will go on points difference between the three teams.
"We already won by one point and lost by four, so we are minus three and England would be minus more because they beat us by four and, if they lose to Scotland by more than seven, they are more than minus three."
However, looking ahead to a game against Georgia his side are heavily fancied to win, he concluded: "I think we just have to win."
