Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great current props' pictures on the bar. We've got Castrogiovanni, Hika Reid, The Beast, Colin Windon, the Franks brothers, Mas, Tonga'uiha, Roncero, Cian Healey (as demanded by Hughie), Stevens, Murray, Mike Ross, Adam Jones and Steenkamp all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Just back from a lecture and seminar in contemporary issues in sport. It was on deviance in sport. Very interesting. Only had a very narrow idea of what deviance is. Didn't know it was so wide ranging.
Anyway, how are you lot?

Deviance in sport, Munsty? You're going to have to elaborate on that.

luckless,
It's talking about going outside boundaries that would be accepted in normal society but are fine in sport or what is going outside the boundaries in sport but fine in other parts of society and why this is the case.

That's a minefield, because every game of rugby is a roving crime scene, but its not actually that the crime does not happen, it is that it has to go beyond some undefined point before the state thinks it's worth intervening.

This is the only chance any of us Irish will have to congratulate a Welsh person for a while. The praise will all be flowing in the opposite direction next week!

Yes: "well done, valiant effort, of course if you couldn't beat us, us being such a weak side, you'd have been humiliated in the final, but chin up there's always 2015, you never know BOD might still be playing then..." that sort of thing?

Good try.

I love that report you posted about the rugby playing policemen.
"He ran into my fist!"
Brilliant!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Prop, me darlin,
Ye don't care what I say every week, so why change now?
Ireland by 10... This team is just getting better, game on game. Huge belief within it now and cross-provincial lurve on and off the field, abounds. Bowe, Darcy, BOD, Kearney and Earls are now hitting top form again.
Add to that, the massive support we have there (that's growing by the day) and all games have been Home games. I just believe that it is a rolling, unstoppable, juggernaut - building up speed.
I think Wales are a brilliant side. One which will get even better also. But also think that with leaders like BOD, POC and ROG, playing in their last RWC - nothing will be left behind on the field next Sat. The backrow battle will be huge also. The SOB v Warburton tussle, at the breakdown, will be crucial. And I happen to think that Warburton is the far better 7. Ferris will help to equalise that battle.
Our only negative is losing Rory Best. He made our frontrow fearsome at the scrum. Brilliant at the lineout and in the loose. We will miss him badly. Can Cronin fit in and keep it that way? Tune in.
Of course Wales could override all of that with a huge performance. And win it. They have the team to do it. But, I don't think they will.
That's my honest opinion.

Cheers All.
My mother always says luck comes in threes. So, I reckon Wales will win and the O's will beat Munster at the weekend as well
But I think that also applies to bad luck, so Wales could lose thanks to a Tommy Bowe hat trick and the O's lose as well.

Ahhah, I have just sent you something to facilitate the third one. Free communication to the World. Sorted.

SOB/Ferris on Warburton at first ruck and he won't want to know about it. A phrase a coach of mine used is particularly apt. May offend some

Think? THINK! come on Gibbo, you are the Svengali, BELIEVE! ultimate positivism. You don't think we will win? That's the ringiest ringing endorsement of Wales' campaign I have heard so far.
If I'm honest, I never expected to be here. I knew my Scarlet backs, Lloyd Williams and Halfpenny were special but I didn't think Gatlamd could see it. I suspected tokenism. He has proven me wrong (I still have my doubts about Priestland mind). Now, anything is possible. CREDER!

Ok Glas a chara. Good call. I don't believe Wales will win it.
But, I fully know ye have to team to do it, if we don't bring our A game and bring it for 82/83 mins. That's for sure.

I see the Belfast Telegraph is getting carried away
"it's really on, Ireland now have the chance to lift the Cup"
Hmmm? Really? There's me thinking they had another two games to win first.
You are right though. The 2 ranking points between us stand for nothing. It will be epic. Respect

Speaking of plants... my mate has had 5(legal limit) - growing on his balcony for months now. Turns out all that care, love and attention, in pruning them, pampering them, feeding them .. two of them are MALE and useless. He is gutted!
Only wimmin plants give the bounty.

For FIFA fans, how awesome is it that in the new game they have two sets of commentators? A small thing maybe but I think it is really cool.

Until they get Motty to do it it's all just background noise though. Count yourself lucky you're still at uni lad. That was one of my favourite things about the whole experience. Coming in from a night out at 2ish absolutely wrecked and then compounding matters by playing randoms on FIFA for the next 2 hours. Epic times.
