Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great current props' pictures on the bar. We've got Castrogiovanni, Hika Reid, The Beast, Colin Windon, the Franks brothers, Mas, Tonga'uiha, Roncero, Cian Healey (as demanded by Hughie), Stevens, Murray, Mike Ross, Adam Jones and Steenkamp all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Just reading Rugby World mag. They've predicted Wales to finish as losing quarter finalists and Ireland to finish as losing semi finalists. This mag was produced in August before the tournament started.

Just in from a Perfect Day, on a boat, touring round the Dam canals in the Sun. It was beautiful weather. Feelin fine. drinkin wine, .. with the ones I love the most.
And you think to yerself... how could this possibly get any better? This is Perfection.
Then I remembered... Ireland have Wales in the RWC QF's.
Perfection just got even better.
Believe.

This is like watching two bald men fighting over a comb.
It matters not which of you lots teams win next, cos you'll be going home the week after when you come up against the red rose.
Just saying!

Lucky, is that the one where the baddies look like they are going to win, but then Bruce Willis turns up and ensures justice by properly refereeing the scrum?

Did anybody else feel sorry for Trimble yesterday? Earles has scored once before Trimble is given a conscience run by Kidney. He then expertly sets up a try for...Earles, who promptly goes and does an Ashton impression. The look on Trimbles face said it all. I'm glad one of the forwards took the time to congratulate him.

Andrew Trimble is such a good player. I'm sure he won't mind starting on the bench if it means Ireland progress further in the competition - but when Ireland are knocked out on Saturday he'll be f___in' livid.

Morning all,
We are through to the RWC quarter finals!!!!!
Glas,
Joubert!
And Andrew Trimble will know that anyone who knows anything about rugby knows who made that try. He will just be delighted it was a man in a green shirt. That's what teams are about afterall.

Andrew Trimble is superb, and while I also think he should have been starting Earls has been scoring tries and you can't argue with that.
He would walk into the Wales starting 15 though

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
The assist is just as important as the score. It's a team game and Trimble knew he couldn't make it, so he drew the defender with two little dummies and they left the easy bit to Earls. That will not have gone unnoticed.
He will probably remain on the bench for the rest of the comp, but Kidney will have no fear about playing him, unlike Varley who he'll treat as the new Cronin and only let him on if he absolutely has to.

Quick someone send a hamper to Craig's address before the welsh folk do!
13 hours of sleep feels great. Woo hoo.
Andy Trimble is a class act. Whilst he's surely disappointed not to be starting he, as every player, should realise rugby is a team sport. No 'i' in team.
Besides he's not going to care when he scores a brilliant individual try from our 22 next week to win us the game.

I think you are doing an injustice to Trimble here. I'm sure he's gutted not to be starting but he's a real team player and I'm sure feels no ill feeling towards Earls who is really playing very well. The fact that he's set up two identical tries in two weeks running for Earls shows the measure of the guy and how he's matured. A few seasons ago I think he'd have gone for glory instead of picking the pass. He just looks so much more confident and composed on the ball.
Trimble is making a big contribution and is unlucky that Ireland are so strong in that back 3. Earls and Bowe were both superb yesterday.

I think you've got a point there Risca. The two rugby magazines I got yesterday (both produced before the tournament started) predict that Wales will be losing quarter finalists, so maybe they're not far wrong off the mark? One of the mags also said Ireland would be the shock winners of their pool and beat Australia. I know Australia are still above them, but still that must've seemed like a bold prediction. I have to say the thought of an Ireland/England semi is mouth-watering...it'll get the Justice4Wally campaign off to a good start... I'm still umming and aahing about what to put on Sportsguru though - in all the quarter finals, not just this one.
Morning by the way.

I think the ref will have most influence on our game. The greater influence on the other quarter is whether France can be harsed.

I don't think either side would be unhappy with that choice, would they? He seems to me to be a Northern type of ref if that makes sense.

Well you've cursed him now haven't you?
He'll come down on our side on every scrum now, call your lineout wonky, miss our knock ons and forward passes and then bin Warburton for stealing our ball illegally.
I hope you're pleased you've ruined a perfectly good contest!

To be fair looking at the quality and the actual standard of how the sports doing and the teams are doing at this world cup I actually do think that there will be Irish representation at the semi finals....maybe even in the final if they keep doing this well. Don't hear many people having a go at the irish team but some people don't seem too happy with the welsh so.......even though I hate saying it congratulations to the Irish....
