First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of pub regulars. We've got the big group pic from the HEC final in Cardiff, plus insets of ll those who couldn't make it

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Ale cuppa coffee mug guinness cider RedWine Bubbly Wales

Chef

I have no doubt that France have a 'great' performance in them, and so they should, they have World Class individuals running through their team. Whether they turn up and play in the final and win, or they shuffle off meakly with their heads shoved up their orses is neither here nor there for me.

Their performances have at times been shockingly poor and for me, by them making the final, rugby was the loser today.

Gibbo

My point is not about whether they win or lose, we all know they have it in them to turn up and trounce anyone on any given day, my point is they have short changed their fans with what they have given and the sooner Lievremont is replaced by PSA the better for me.

Can you honestly say that you would be happy to have mad Marc lauded as a World Cup winning coach?

I agree on both points Peader. ML to go. And would not be happy with the smarmy feicer winning the RWC. But. It doesn't change the fact that I believe the players themselves, have it in them to win it. Be just like em, the mad basterds. French Rugby and logic in one sentence?

In that vein, I think they have more chance of beating NZ than Oz. They would just love to spoil that party.

Pete,Over here they are worried more by PSA than ML;at least ML got them 2 stages higher than Johnson. The French, and I can say we, are more interested in club, parochial rugby, than international considerations;that is for those with money that can afford to follow them, the avevage Pierre Bloggs supports the locals and basta..ML is over and out, even if he gets his team to win, he'll get a low level Legion d'Honneur,a kiss from the president, and then go elsewhere. He won't be haunting French rugby like SCW does in England.

Don't go. We're just getting used to you.

For the AB's to win this they have to dispatch two of their bogey teams. Can they do it with 0.5 of their two greats?

That's the thing now the game is pro. Back then all people knew were the players. They won or lost the game. Now the game is pro, too many people see the head coach as a convenient scapegoat. Which players will never represent their country again after this RWC (excepting retirements) for poor performance, on or off the pitch? I'm really thinking of England here.

But Fran Cotton has firmly put put Johnson in the firing line ahead of a hardly independent 'review' into England in this RWC.

We've had more head coach turnover in the last decade, at club and national level, than you can shake a stick at.

Toulouse is the model, in Europe.

You know H, I think it will be a cracker after this RWC. Wales - the pick of the bunch. France in the RWC Final. Ireland? .. well we did ok. England & Scotland? Either one of them could win it. England are holders, so yeah. Italy will have their say. Its so much tighter than it ever was.

I would say very real yes to those 2 Pete. One has done it all Internationally (if he wins the RWC) and the other has done it all in the club game in the NH and with Wales.
