The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the team photos of the World Cup finalists. Or the action shots (put up especially for Cari) of McCaw, Kahui and Corey Jane.
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Cheers Gibbo
Lucky, she's still in cylch meithrin so far, but they are off I think.
Just seen a point on another thread as to whether yesterday's match effects our draw for 2015. Does anybody know?

Yes, my peace will be shattered on Thursday. Mind you, editing the masses of photos he's taken over there should keep him busy for a while!

Our ranking will affect where we are in the draw, I think - or whatever our ranking is when the draw's made and I don't know when that is. Eighth in the rankings after finishing fourth in the World Cup doesn't seem right, but never mind, it is what it is.

Same here, RAva. Cold, wet and miserable. Yesterday - cold, wet and miserable. Day before - see yesterday. Had beautiful weather for our trip to York, ditto for Fountains Abbey, South Shields (!) and GAteshead. Arrived in CArlisle on the way back and .... cold wet and miserable. (Where's my favourite <wah> emoticon gone?)

Ha MrsPenfro. Yeah its nice to have time on your own. Do things at your own pace. MrsG went to Oz for 5 weeks and I organised things in the house my way. She got home - yeah... changed it all back. Ah well.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I know that, Glas, but surely there should be a way of rewarding - I don't know if rewarding is the right word - a side the further it gets in the tournament. I don't know how that would be done because I'm not a mathemagician.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I think 4th should override games won & lost. Be tricky, but seeing as the 3 games were twice lost by 1 point and the last one by 3. It really is not equitable, imo. I mean keep the won & lost as the basis - you have to, but give extra points based on making the last 4.

Portnoy would be the man to ask, but do the rankings take points difference into consideration, or is it strictly winning and losing?

Used to be, but then they moved to the current system.
I like the current system but instead of making the draw three years out from the World Cup, make it three months out and base it on world rankings.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
That would be a better way of doing it, Notch. Unless Wales have slipped further in the rankings by that point, in which case I'm dead against it.

OK then I agree as well.
Gibbo, how nice it was to get up this morning to be greeted by your message. Except the bit about roiding without the saddle. A bit worried about that bit.

They're not showing it on the website, Glas.
(Don't ask why I can't watch it on the telly. Strategic concessions to the Significant Other.)

Half time. Dragons lifted pressure by stealing the last two line outs. Wayne Evans and Adam Hughes are ace.

That's the best half of rugby I've seen in ages. End to end stuff. Two attack minded teams with young pacey backs. Ref is doing an excellent job.
