First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the team photos of the World Cup finalists. Or the action shots (put up especially for Cari) of McCaw, Kahui and Corey Jane.

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Don't know about deliberately, but shall we say, they didn't target it as a must win. Which for France is probably the same thing.

It was certainly strange that they'd leave out Harinordoquy, Mas, Servat, Trinh Duc etc but then again thats Lievremont for you. I see one fella today won his first ever cap for France - talk about deep end.

I wondered whether they deliberately threw it at the time but wasn't going to say as much in a pub in NZ, they were so relieved to get the win over them at the time.

Great win for the young Scarlets, at this rate the WC returnees will be the ones warming the bench!

Congrats Pete as well btw.

Penfro just rang, I didn't get much sense out of him just that he'd promised to ring me and that's what he was doing! Doh I'll no doubt get more sense when I speak to him next.

Here is a question - does anyone think France intentionally threw the pool match against NZ - my brother reckons maybe

Everyone in France knows they did, just like they tried to lose against Wales and threw the Tonga match as well

Doussain had to play today or there would be alot of flak flying from Noves.Doussain went out as an injury replacement for Skrela, who has already played twice for ASM this season.

ML sent for Doussain to replace a supposedly injured Skrela, who has already played twice for ASM since his return to France. Noves, theToulouse head coach, was very much against Doussain ,a scrum half , going to stand in for an OH;moreover, the only got onto the squad sheet for the semi, and didn't play, so he had to be present today or there would have been questions etc.OK,does that clarify my gnomic utterances? mad

Hardest luck to France, they came very close. I only asked the question as they dropped a lot of big name players and lost by 20 points. Today they picked a better team and could have won.

How would they know if you're spending all your time in the Pub? I know you are not Cari. In fact you spend very little time in here now. But how would they know? Think about it.

For every 1000 posts per Pub, there are always 6000/7000 views, Same on BEEB 606. We are a virtual, national - Institution. Like Eastenders or Corrie. Without the Pub, I doubt this site would have lasted.

We should get a Forum Oscar or a Dave or summat. Whistle

Glas - it was to me. Anyway, Pete's right, tis no one else's business which posts I frequent and how often. I don't post much outside cause I know when I haven't got much to say unlike some.

Anyhoo, there's a good thread outside which asked for viewers fave RWC moments. There were so many to choose from, but I picked Tommy's run cause it was a bit spesh Smile

Stag,
I've no idea what PSA is going to be like for EdF,but he's achieved nothing since his return from Sale.He will have a load of new and exciting young players to work with, I hope for EdF's sake he doesn't take as long as ML to find a settled squad.

Regs, there is a singer/songwriter gig on BBC IPlayer. Watched it live last night on BBC4. Janis Ian, Ryan Adams & Neil Finn. Just sublime. Janis singing At 17 ... just like she is still... 17. If you close your eyes. I think she's in her 60's'.

Deep Joyness.

Bottom line is. China own us all.

Evening all,

Just popping in as I'm currently very very drunk, but wanted tot hank all the regs who setn congratulation messages earlier. This afternoon I was part of a mass haka (30-odd kiwi men) in the beer garden of the Wandle pub in Earlsfield,
Passing through Shepherds Bush on the way home the Walkie looked packed, and there were kiwi fans all pver the cpmmon.

Just wanted to add that I' feeling incredibly relieved. And I take back everything I've saif about Stephen Donald. Including the sms I sent Asbo when Cruden went off Whistle

Honourable pub mention to Englishman in Wales (does he have an ailias on here?) for topping the sportguru 606v2 Rugby World Cup pool. After a stunning first week I flattered to deceive not a trait which I follow through in other aspects of my life... ahem...

Also my fantasy football team have effectively been kicked in the nads two weeks running.

Honourable pub mention to Luke Donald who has managed to top the PGA tour money list after an epic final round at the Disney Event stateside.
