The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the team photos of the World Cup finalists. Or the action shots (put up especially for Cari) of McCaw, Kahui and Corey Jane.
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I can't imagine the price of the boats will change nor will it fill up based on the route we are taking so I think we don't need to rush with it but at the same time I will account for it financially and when you know the score, just let me know

I hope the Dublin based regs are all OK. They're saying on the radio over here that an emergency has been declared there. I'm hoping that's a media exaggeration.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
do you agree with that Stag? think its limiting their pool.
I can imagine a bit part of what Hendry brought to the coaching of the all blacks stemmed from his experience he gained with Wales and the Lions.
why would they piegon hole themselves from getting the right man for the job?
or is this their way of advertising as a "prefered candidate" due to them already knowing who they want?

Thanks Cari. some crazy roads and vidoe clips out there. unfortunately an off duty garda was washed away trying to direct traffic. his body was found this morning.
it's probably an emergency in terms of a clean up operation and getting sand banks etc but can imagine there are bigger emergencies that have been declared than this.
it was crazy though. I looked out my window past the river onto the dual carriage way and it was flowing like a river last night.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Cari, I’ve heard that too. An emergency as defined by local government might just mean that all gaurds and paramedics are on call for example. The place isn’t in that bad a state though. we’re through the worst of it anyway.

I suspect its their way of stopping coaches leaving the country.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Micky - I read about that young gard. It's sad that he was swept away trying to help others who were in difficulty and he was off duty. At least they've found his body (as bad as that sounds).
Mickado - ah I see. That makes sense now.

A lot of good Kiwi coaches will fall through the net - Josef Schmidt, Greg Feek and Jono Gibbes are a Kiwi coaching team achieving good things at Leinster. Warren Gatland has impressed in parts with Wales. Robbie Deans is across the Tasman with the Aussies.
Could Pat Lam come into the equation? Or Todd Blackadder who Im not even sure has been in NZ the last 5 years (he only got back there in 2007)

Well done Prop.
Now just make sure you let it heal and rehab before you get back.
Not the typical,

Fine whats one of our traditional barneys - I know.
I think that the English media greatly exaggerated the players "antics" on tour at RWC 2011 and that the boys have nothing to be ashamed of. Anyone who disagrees is a cross dressing jumped up ignoramus who'd rather support Chiefs and England over Glasgow and Scotland just to confirm that they are the glory hunting kilt wearer we always knew them to be. Oh and your really OLD!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Blackadder took over the Crusaders in 2009, so he probably hasn't got 5 years. Jamie Joseph hasn't been coaching professionally for 5 years I don't think (could be wrong). Wayne Smith is off to the Chiefs -and Foster has finished there & in need of work. Fozzie has good NZRU connections which may override his poor record with the Chiefs.
Hansen's pretty much the only man standing for head coach. I doubt there's the same restrictions on assistants though.
Linebreaker if you're about, any chance we could have Robbie back?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Speaking of coaches in recent years Im much less worried about amount of Irish coaches coming through.
Eric Elwood, Anthony Foley, Ian Costello, Reggie Corrigan, Girvan Dempsey, David Humphreys, Neil Doak. With a whole raft of experienced players likely to retire in a few years surely someone like ROG or O'Connell will turn to coaching.

Mark McCall, Jeremy Davidson, Conor O'Shea?
Just seen Alfie has announced his retirement. Didn't really follow his league spell but he was a fantastic rugby union player.

I don't ever see Conor O'Shea coaching an Irish team to be honest - maybe Leinster. I just think he doesn't get on well with IRFU.
McCall had his shot. Davidson still has a role to play. I'm talking about Irish people who can influence Irish players.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I think thats Harsh on McCall stag he won the league with Ulster before he was undermined by a few senior players.
He's done a great job at Saracens by the looks of it. I think he's a brilliant coach.

He is Director of Rugby - thats same job as Kidney MrsP. He's a manager.
Rodders - he is a good coach. I don't see him getting back involved in Ireland or a province again though.

That "no-one's defended the RWC" monkey is jumping up and down with excitement.
Hang on Kiwi, Hansen won you the World cup:
1 Graham Henry gets the Wales job in 98-99
2 He appoints Hansen as his forwards coach
3 together they apparently revolutionise Wales and their play
4 in reality they are taught lessons that the SH were forgetting as to the importance of traditional forward play
5 Lyn Jones develops a move at Neath which saw two pods in the lineout. The front pod moves forward and the back pod moves back. The scrum half moves with the back pod and the ball I'd thrown to them. The loose head prop peels into the gap, receives the ball from the rear jumper and scores. Duncan Jones usually.
6 in 02 Henry is finished with Wales. Everybody else has caught up, he is denied his pet players by grannygate. He leaves Hansen behind.
7 Hansen tries to throw a match against NZ in the 03 WC. His sips to the Welsh press ignore all he says and run NZ close. His reputation is miraculously boosted even though the 04 6N were abysmal for us.
8 Henry is appointed NZ coach and appoints Hansen as hos forwards coach. He is given a lifeline in 07 after blaming all sorts for losing to France.
9 Hansen shores ip the NZ scrum and line out a bit, but does nothing for 5 years.
10 NZ get to the final in '11. Hansen tells Henry, do you remember that Lyn Jones line out move Neath used to pull...
And the rest is history,

I imagine DHumph ensures BMcL has the players and facilities he needs at his disposal and Shane Logan ensures DHumph has the money required to make that happen.
That's how I imagine their roles are divided.
