First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the team photos of the World Cup finalists. Or the action shots (put up especially for Cari) of McCaw, Kahui and Corey Jane.

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

He sees you when you’re sleeping

He knows when you’re awake

He knows if you’ve been bad or good

But he doesn’t give a f**K!

probably the best idea for a movie I’ve ever seen in my life!!

Mickado - It's quite strange they normally seem to be the idyllic couple but they've had a couple of rows lately. Hopefully they'll sort things out. They're nice people so I wouldn't like to see them split.

I hope you managed to sleep after your scare last night - BOO! ghost

Cari, read that. Could be a bit of sour grapes as Dusautoir got MOM and Player of the Year.

We have had almost non-stop rain since Friday. I was out last night and the drive there and back was horrendous. Problem is you cant see the flooded bits of the road until you hit them. Was all over the place at times.
Hope our Southern friends are all safe and well.

Pete, I was hoping Leicester wouldn't get back to form until after we get to WR on 19th November. Looking to you lot to soften them up a bit. I think you can get a result against Bath this weekend.

Reminds me of when I watched the original live broadcast of Ghostwatch on the BBC years ago. I was absolutely terrified, and my sister made it worse when she knocked on the window coming home - I was on the ceiling! Shocked

Lucky - the original one is a couple of years old, but there's a sequel out now I think.

Did you see Blair Witch Project? Did that scare you? My brother watched that and was terrified even though he likes horror films...

The Blair Witch project was pretty scary, but nothing compared to Paranormal Activity. It’s just so tense, it’s all shot on hand held camera’s and the idea is that these people think there’s a demon who’s after one of them so they set up cameras to watch the house as they sleep, you see virtually nothing “scary” in it, but every night is just so tense.

I saw the Exorcist years ago and that wasn’t that bad, The Shining is terrifying though.

Stephen King really didn't like what Stanley Kubrick had done with the Shining, did he? I agree with you that it's a terrifying film, deeply unsettling. The book's great too and you get more of a back story than you do in the film, maybe that's what Stephen King didn't like being left out.

I'm too much of a wuss to watch some horror films cause I'm very squeamish, but I like being scared sometimes if that makes sense. Has anyone seen Don't Look Now? That's a good example of what I mean.

Glas - my mam still lives in West Wales and you're right it is too quiet. It's strange because persistent sounds, like traffic in the city don't bother me, but a door slam when you're dozing off is a bit of a shock. Thankfully they don't have domestics too often (at the moment).

Im good thanks Cari. I've today off work cos of the rain and storms so I am busy flicking about on the net online, doing some research from home.

Had a good pub quiz last night. Its a good tough one very very difficult. But the pints are only €3 and there is free food. What better way to spend a Monday night.

Im starving and have realised there is no food for breakfast at home Sad

Mistaken identity by the sound of it. Not surpising from Keith Quinn, IMO he should have retired 10 years ago, his return to full-match commentary in the RWC (he'd been just calling the 7s circuit post '95) was embarrassing. Having said that, his Encyclopedia of New Zealand Rugby is a superb reference.

I love a good pub quiz, Stag - but there's a balance to be struck between questions that are too easy (not much of a challenge, boring) and questions that are too difficult (annoyance, feelings of inadequacy, getting smashed). I'd probably prefer a quiz to be too difficult than too easy.

My old rule of thumb when setting up a quiz was to have enough easy questions that the last placed team score around 50% (that way they come back the next time) and enough hard questions to separate out the winners.

I set the questions for a couple of pub quizzes for my dad's work and it's tougher to strike the right balance than you'd think. You have to keep everyone interested so you need enough 'gimmes' for that to happen. It was good fun, though.

I find that 2nd in a pub quiz is the ideal result. No pressure of defending a crown, can claim to have been robbed, nobody likes a smartorse.
