The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Chris Paterson, Steve Thompson and Jonny Wilkinson above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Regs,
As we enter the twilight hours of 2011, I just wanted to leave a message for you all. 2011 has been a year of extreme highs and lows for me, but thankfully the former outweigh the latter. I look forward to hopefully meeting up with some, if not all of you again next year. Thanks to those who've been a source of great support to me personally, and to all of you for being the tidy people you are. I wish all a peaceful and prosperous 2012
GIBBO - I didn't have ten seconds with Tommy actually...he can last much longer!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I hope everyone had a great New Year's celebration.
The party was an event to say the least. We all trekked up to the lookout to see the 9pm "Kiddie's Fireworks" after an amazing Indian dinner. We all had to make something... I did the raita which went down well.
Then this poor kid had a fall and bumped his head running to get to the pool first. The lump subsided after half an hour. Then the same 11 y.o. copped a foot in the face as some 13 y.os.* were doing sommersaults next to him in the swim-out. I could see it coming - from a distance. Blood everywhere. Poor bugger wasn't too keen on the prospect of a 10:30pm visit to the hospital but his parents did a great job calming the little fella down "C'mon mate... it won't hurt...(much!)" Anyway, latest reports are it all went well. Got the first bump checked by the Doc as well. It's a night I'm sure they wont forget.
We then watched the midnight fireworks on a big screen which was pretty spectacular even though I have built up a tolerance for watching it year after year. I liked the saturn-shaped ones and the ones which looked like squares.
However, we all noticed that the fire-fall off the bridge had one torrent missing. Very annoying. Some lark commented it was as obvious as a missing tooth! 6.3 million bucks well spent.
Time for a nap now - was buzzing for a while so stayed up to watch the Hong Kong NYE and some of the Man U - Blackburn match.
Proper summer's day out there. Beach tomorrow. Other than the above incident... no major dramas.
* there were some recently arrived guests from England (relatives of the hostess) who have decided to settle down here in Sydney.
She was born in the UK but grew up here; he is a quietly spoken English guy. Along with their 2 kids (one 10 y.o.girl + 13 y.o boy) they have seamlessly adapted to the Aussie lifestyle... which was great to see. The jokes started early and just kept coming... it was a hilarious night (except for the accidents)

Morning all
Happy New Year!!!
Strangely 2012 feels a lot like 2011 here, although the kids have slept in a bit later, so maybe it is different. Magic
Good to hear you had a good one breaker, and I hope that EVERYONE has a positive year this year.
Go out and make it so people, we only get one shot at this and it's no good when you hit 70 saying "I wish I had...."
Follow your dreams, and don't worry about the knocks you take trying to get there, it's not how many times you get knocked down that counts, it's how many times and how strong you get up again.
Peace

Used to do them with one position a day from 15th December then the whole team on NYE, just not had time this year really which is a shame.
Work is so busy for me at the moment, I will struggle to get them done before 2013 I reckon!

Playing a cricket game after going on the lash last night, that's hard core CF. In other news my arms feel like they're going to fall off. Not warming down after a weights session is the reason. Well I'm an idiot.

Everyone on here is far too chirpy for my liking. Happy 2012!
Incredibly random folk out in the clubs of Belfast last night. Was casually chatting a few ladies up at the bar when a complete drunken stranger rolled up and asked me since it was 2012 and the world was going to end did he want to go halfsies with him on a mountainside hut on Everest.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning again peeps.
Following an unusual annual tradition (unusual for me anyway) at the minute by relaxing in front of the telly watching the New Years Day Concert from Vienna. My mam got me into it years ago, forcibly I might add it wasn't like I had a choice its always on in my house. But its just not new years day without it on now. Strange that.

Afternoon All.
Compliments of the season to you. Hope you all saw the new year without any drama....alhtough Linebreaker it sounds like you had some at your party. Hope the injured are all right now.
I'm knackered...might have to have a snooze on the sofa before the O's game.

WillyG,
Do you think either you or your friend would get much use of a half share in a hut anywhere if the world had ended?

Cari its a bit scrappy but there has been some really good attacking play by both sides. Connacht have been ferocious in defence as always and Leinster haven't really hit their stride. Cullen just been binned.
Eoin Griffin has been getting the better of his namesake O'Malley in the battle of the young Irish 13's......Connacht try!

Final score Leinster 15 Connacht 13. Connacht outscored Leinster two tries to nil. Very close game. Last minute drop goal attempt by Connacht just short. Went to TMO for a decision.
