The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Chris Paterson, Steve Thompson and Jonny Wilkinson above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Our he kicks like a pro and runs like a girl. At least he always tackles like a girl, so we can't level the inconsistency charge.
But sure- I always forgive him in the end! When we get the bonus against one of the big two
Yeah yeah, I know they had a shocking team out. Sure just let me have this one

Yeah for sure, though we were depleted in some positions too. Unfortunately the time when anything meaningful could be taken from these derby games at this time of year is gone. Unless the teams somehow get drawn against each other in Europe- not a great chance- we probably won't get a true reflection of how the teams compare head to head.

Congrats Mrs P, Notch, Rava & Co... seems like your guys grabbed their chances and put points on the board. Nice to finish the year on a winning note.
Staggy, I wish someone had told me there were 3rd or 4th choice players in certain positions... I feel like a complete goose after making my SC tips!
Oh, to be an ignorant neutral from afar....
Have a great Dec 31 everyone... I'm off to buy some raita (hostess gave me that easy contribution) & grog for the party tonight.

Nah these always get the big crowds- for all the Unions. Even if we wanted to swap, who would want to from outside Ireland? Would the Scarlets want to sacrifice that 15,000 crowd they had? We wouldn't sell the same number of tickets as we do for the big derby either. Sadly thats what it comes down to; but they should absolutely not do games on the 26th and the 30th. It affected the team we out out against Leinster and it affected the team Munster put out tonight. If it's like that every year people will start losing interest.

So what's wrong with those dates? The coaches better understand that if the fans don't rock up the ability to cover wages are compromised.

I think the only thing wrong with those dates is their proximity to each other.
Asking some teams to play 2 Derby matches 4 days apart pretty much means you have to put out 2 different starting 15s.

Do you? Really? Isn't that the modern coach's pervasive conservatism. "if they play twice in a week they won't be able to train as much"

Well, it's silly to have four days when you can have six days. Ulster and Leinster both wanted to play that one on Christmas Eve, but then TV got involved. Even then you could have the next round on the 1st January.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Well done Ulster tonight.
Evening all. Hope all had a really good Christmas.
And a happy new year to everyone.
I have decided that 2012 is going to be a **** year because
a) I am bored with the Olympics already and it is only going to get worse
b) It's a Dickens anniversary and we have had loads already on tv and that's only the warm up act for a whole feast of his stuff for all of next year (btw I HATE Dickens and all his works)
c) I hit another birthday with a zero at the end and all the benefits I was looking forward to have been postponed for a few more years - rubbish
d) with a bit of luck I will cease to be a student (maybe by the end of January) and will have to, at least give the appearance of growing up.
e) continued funding cuts in education could make my job as chair of governors of an educational institution difficult.
Other than that it could be a cracking year

Kia - chill will ya.
The (Cardiff) Butcombe was finally cracked over Christmas, and much enjoyed
It was always intended to be thus, as I don't normally drink indoors. Nae pub open near me on Christmas Day. Butcombe was accompanied by Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Skynyrd and others

Now that's a different story. The TV listings are far too determinative of when these games are played. Something needs to be done.

Yeah, Williams and Keatley are really not the answer for Munster. Put in a weak backrow and the heart of the team wasn't beating at all. Their misfortune was our gain. That's how it goes- don't take it too hard. Still in the box seat in Europe with a horde of players to come back.
We got the same Christmas Present Thom- guys a pro.

And Katherine Jenkins is single again too ...
Afternoon all, very quick check in as I'm off to Chez Asbo down in Exeter shortly.
If anyone gets a chance to go to la Soiree (it's on a the Roundhouse in Camden) it's brilliant.

Good afternoon and compliments of the season to all. I'm doing Jack cack for tonight. I haven't been out on NYE since Manic Millennium. I find NYE a bit overrated and a bit of an anticlimax after Christmas. Nevertheless I'll stay up until gone midnight cause the Calennig fireworks would only wake me up at 12 anyway. Hope those of you partying tonight enjoy yourselves.

Afternoon Cari, afternoon Cricket.
Jools Holland and a bottle of champagne is the order of the evening in this house.
I'm with you Cari, I always find NYE a bit of an anti-climax. Kind of glad when it's done and out of the way. That is once I've gotten over the shock of yet another year having gone by in a flash! There's always fireworks round here too so I tend to watch them from my front door. The fireworks in Sydney were on the news earlier. Don't think we'll be getting anything on that scale here!

Swanny - I enjoy The Annual Joolz Hootenanny too. He's got quite an ecclectic mix on there this year looking at my Radio Times.
I know what you mean about the year whizzing by. I was saying to someone the other day it's been almost a whole year since I went to Dublin, met Tommy and I remember it all like it was last weekend! Seems odd that there's been all that time in between!

Afternoon all, hope everyone's well.
Just finished attempting to sew shoulder pads into my fancy dress outfit for tonight, not exactly the best sewing job of my life but it'll do.
Really can't wait for the house party later, always one of the highlights and the best way to see out the old year and start the new one!
Lots and LOTS of will be consumed.
I hope whatever everyone plans to do, that they have lovely evenings.
(I know some are working so for you guys)
Here's to a brilliant 2012

Just watched the last half hour of Chiefs v Harlequins. Excellent match that Chiefs should have won, they had their chance. The drop goal was a good option...until it missed. Excellent NH domestic rugby scrap. Well satisfied as I wasn't expecting to watch any live rugby today until I read back earlier on.
