The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the picture of David Sisi, Jannie de Beer and Glen Webbe above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I almost sh!t. Brilliant stuff. And sure didn't we get the penalty in the next scrum? Tom Court loves his kindle.
Oh God, I love this game.

Free pass. I'm too happy pal. We did it
And this makes me even happier;

They suffered a 33-0 defeat here eight years ago, their previous worst-ever result in the competition.
This, in its way, was an even uglier beating, the crowd even regaling their visitors with a mocking cry of 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot' in the closing minutes.

Time to let that episode go Ulster, ye are big enough to do it. I am sure it wasnt an Ulster thing. Just a section of the crowd, and his mindset, on that day.
Anyway, Big Trev will have to put up with my snoring in 2013.
Ill wear me Cooke Rugby shirt in bed, and tell him Im serenading him.
He'll love that.

Hound, they highlight what I think was the turning point of the entire match; Twelvetrees missed penalty. When that came off the post the lads confidence went into his boots. And our confidence went sky high.
It was the closest thing I've experienced to the spirit of 1999 this week. Just absolute certainty that we would win at Ravenhill no matter who turned up, no matter what reputation they had, because there are 15 madmen in white ready to run through walls to make sure we do. It was one of those special nights that live long in legend. One day my bored grandchildren will hear of this.
It's been torture biting my tongue in this fine establishment all week!

Apparently after the full-time whistle, Martin Castrogiovanni walked up to the Prom, pointed at a fan behind the dugout and gave him his match shirt.
What. A. Legend.
Niggly, nasty, cheating barsteward on the pitch, true gentleman with genuine class off it- the way every rugby player should be

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Tigers fans are generally grand folk. So knowledgable and gracious, I found anyway.
Ulster can always say they pressed the RESET button on Tigers tonight and told them where they really stood as a team.
Lot of soul-searching by the Club and the fans, after being torn apart by a superb side. On that site de Hound posted.
I'll tell ya one ting Ted, Ulster could go all the way now. Who's better than that side were tonight? No performance so far - has matched that. It was complete in every sense of the word.
It was Tigers who were utterly dismantled here, so put it in perspective.
One Tigers fan on that board said. "Beaten by the 3rd best team in Ireland?"
I dont think so. They were anhihilated by the possible best team in Ireland.
I dont want to meet them if they get through. Not on that form. Give me Quins.

Let's not bet the family silver just yet Gibbo.
A big win is a big win- next week is the real barometer of where we are. And I have to say you're right, Leicesters fans were great. Real decent rugby people. I wish them all the very best of luck in the Jeff, because they're just true rugby fans who love their club.
We've been where they are so many times, and all the pain of those moments is our passion now. We want to make a name for ourselves so badly I can taste it.
Paddy Wallace got some stick about his age from some of the younger Ulster players for this... I think they meant 2004!

Ooh thats class. In fairness to Tigers, they are just pure rugby to the bone. Players and fans. The whole entity.
Its just a class thing to do. I saw Murphy mouthing to an Ulster player at the final whistle. "Well done, gowan and win it now"
Im reading about how the Tigers fans are having a feicin ball in Belfast.
They are being minded and feted. That'll be more of that aul class Ted.
I phhhokin love this game and most of the people who do too.
Believe.
For Ulstuuur and Ireland.

Broke the record for their heaviest ever European defeat Radge. Previously was 33-0 at Ravenhill against us in 2004 but this time it was 41-7. A 34 point margin!

OK. I'll stop being nice.
Come down to Lansdowne, if ye make the QF's, and we'll show ye how close to "World Domination" - ye really are.
Your orses will be handed to ye, in a Brown Thomas bagaiste.
In fairness...
Does that help A? :dressedorange:

It was something special all right. I don't do SportGuru but every game I go to my Dad asks me my prediction. Tonight I predicted Ulster 29- 14 Leicester. So yes, I was confident, but we played out of our skins- such commitment and intensity. It went beyond what I thought we could do. I'm so incredibly proud.
And that's why Ravenhill is special. The atmosphere was unbelievable, I think my larynx is damaged. I can't actually speak. When wee Marshall scored the fourth I lost it. I was hugging people I've never even seen before. I was bellowing wordlessly like a demented hippo in a paddling pool; joy and disbelief.
So yes Cookie you could say it was a good night. You could say that

Notch the atmosphere at the hill tonight was unbelievable. Match of the season so far and probably the best match I've attended since we beat beat Biaritz last season. That game finished 9-6 and was probably one for the purists but in terms of atmosphere and occasion in ranked alongside tonight's escapades. Just brilliant.

I just read back through the five pages. Some lovely things said. Some humble pie eaten.
Gibbo, what did I say a week ago? I never felt more confident. Ulster are on the verge. Make no mistake about that.
Billy I did say we would get a TBP. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would win by that margin.
Notch I agree 36's penalty miss early in the 2nd half may have been a major factor in the game. After that Leicester looked a beaten team. So glad we closed that out.

More than happy to leave it at that. I'm just so pleased for those guys who were on the pitch. Did you see how much they wanted that. Shades of Leinster in the second half of the final.
Trimble is a class act. Tom Court is getting better. Dan Tuohy should get at least one start in the 6N.

Stefan Terblanche, who has 37 caps for South Africa and scored four tries for them on his debut, won a TriNations title and two Currie Cups just tweeted this;
"Thank you Ravenhill for one of the most memorable nights in my rugby career!#suftum !!"
Just shows how special the atmosphere was.

Ulster's Saffers more than earned their crust tonight. Also, Afoa was immense. He led the way. He was the key.
Best was in his pomp, he knew what this meant.
But Ferris, he was a phhokin Beast.

Rava - I disagree on the turning point, I think it was when Youngs lost it at Poite, he was a manifestation of the Tigers realisation that there was nothing they could do. Ferris' cover tackle was just immense. I want a clip of it to be shown before every Ulster match from now on with a batman "Kapow" graphic.
