The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the picture of David Sisi, Jannie de Beer and Glen Webbe above the bar!
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Munster doing an interesting formation in the lineout. Connor Murray is starting at the front and Coughlan is standing at scrum-half!

Cardiff are on 13 at the moment so the fewer points they get today the better.
LI on 8 so no threat.

Con are giving it a good go. Pure greed costs Them a try though as a 3 on 1 is ignored

Lucky,
An Irish win with no one take any bonus points is the best result for Edinburgh.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Not really sure. A Blues win today takes them top again with a "fairly" easy last game against Racing who have nothing to play for.
Edinburgh have to play LI at home. If Irish win today they will be on 13 points, the same as Blues. Edinburgh would then need to get a point to qualify. Some other scenarios like either LI or Blues getting a TBP today but that looks unlikely. Neither side look like scoring one try never mind four.

Thanks, Mrs P. I'd love to see Embra make the quarters. They have real talent at loose forward and half back. Plus Tim McVisser.

10-3 at half time. Not a great match but Con really blew a huge chance for a try. Seriously poor from them

Half time 16-7
Just a thought for the Ulster fans. Tyrone Howe mentioned last night about the game against Leicester being a focus for them when the draw was announced. I think a lot of people would agree that last night's was the best Ulster performance for a long time.
When the draw for RWC2011 was announced, Ireland focussed on the Australia match and geared a lot of their play / tactics towards that game. Subsequently Ireland lost a lot of that fizz, as seen in the Wales match at RWC.
Is there a real danger that Ulster will lose some of their fizz next week?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yes, big time. Especially with it being such a physical game. This is where Johann Muller and Brian McLaughlin really earn their crust.
But the way we played wasn't tailor made to beat Leicester, thats the style we've been trying to build. Same way we played against Edinburgh and Munster. It's a more complete style than Ireland in the RWC.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I think that is a real danger indeed Kia although it's hard to see how else we could have approached it. Apart from picking up an extra LBP and denying one to Clermont.
Hopefully there are enough lads there who remember the pain of the final HEC pool matches from 2 years ago to help them keep their focus.

Kia I think the actually were targeting Tigers home and away. They were extremely disappointed with their performance at Welford Road. Probably were thinking best runner-up/Amlin at the time. I think they will be focused now that the big prize is within their grasp but it take a performance of epic proportions.

Just tuned back into LI/Blues. Blues must have scored a converted try early second haalf. They now lead 13-9.

Picamoles scores for Tou. It really was coming and Con were under huge pressure. A 5mtr scrum was completely dominated by Tou and Picamoles peeled off to strole in. Conversion sucessfull. Tou 17 - 3 Con

It says everything for France's depth in the back row that Louis Picamoles isn't a regular for the national side.
Is anyone betting against them for the Six Nations?

Tou well on top but some excellent defense sees Con win a turnover and penalty. Tou are just far too strong though
