The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Rhys Thomas, Ben Castle, Andy Fenby and Bill McLaren above the bar!

Mario Kart is the best! I wish they'd release a new one with new cups though.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Evening all .
I've had a terwat of a day, worked like a dog got covered in shoite - no literally - cut me finger open on a broken tile and listened to their feckless waster of a teenage son whine his nads off all day because he wanted a lie in but couldn't because he had to be up to let me in.
To top it off, they were £30 short on the cash they owed me and I only had one cup of tea all feckin day, I'm not a feckin camel, but right now I have some serious feckin hump.
That's all.
Hope everyone's well, anyone heard how Ma Penfro is?

Evening all,
PJ,
Sorry you had a rotten day. Hope the finger is okay.
Penfro said earlier that his mam was doing fine and would be ready for home once all the "community support" ducks were in a row!

MrsP, Cari,
Feel much better for a little rant...... and a vodka and tonic, forgive me, for I have sinned a day early.
Good news for Ma Penfro, it's amazing what they can do with ducks nowadays!
Sup Munsty, got the lurgy?
Boiled lemonade and whiskey then off to your cot for an early one, sweat it out, it's the only way.

What is it with this "boiled lemonade" thing?
I'd never heard of that until you were touting on here the other day.
Do you have shares in C&C or something?

No shares MrsP, it's something my dad used to swear by and it's always worked for me, sweats a fever out a treat. Maybe it's the placebo effect? I have no medical knowledge whatsoever to be fair, but if it involves booze I'll generally give it a lash.

Small price to pay Munsty.
You don't need to drink soooo much that it is inconvenient just be aware that you need more fluid when you have a temp, especially when you are mouth breathing.

I've heard of the Hot Whisky thing and in fact would heartily recommend it. (No point wasting the good stuff, whiskEy, on this). It won't make the cold go away any quicker but it will help with some of the symptoms.
It's the boiling of the lemonade bit that confuses me?
Why lemonade, why boiled etc?

I add a slice of lemon to my hot whiskey MrsP.
Boiling water, two and a half spoons of brown sugar, a generous splash of whiskey and a thick slice of lemon with a number of cloves inserted into it - had one the other night in fact.

That whisky stuff tastes like medicine anyway, have a slug of Laphroaig and you know what feeling sick is all about.
I'm not sure about the lemonade either, maybe it's a catalyst thingy?
Maybe I should stop diluting my whiskey?
Anyhoo, boiled lemonade and whiskey has always worked for me and I'm not about to quit on a winner - alls I need now is a cold.

Yeah,
MrP is the Hot Whisky maker in this house and he adds cloves and a wee bit of sugar.
No slice though.
And definately no boiled lemonade.

Give you a bit of a heads up (in other words, would appreciate some enthusiasm in the morning for the announcement!) that I am going to be doing a bi weekly Q&A with David Jackson who plays for Nottingham:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7GN2qTeF-A&context=C3babdb6ADOEgsToPDskIUtmsTkt264CUTsf88ZwSL
(test of the tech!)
People can post general rugby questions to ask him each week and I will choose half a dozen to ask him.
Thought it would be something different to differentiate us a little!

Bore da pawb / good morning all. It's a beautiful, beautiful day here on the docks. Wales team announced at lunchtime, Six Nations weekend ahead, what's not to like?
Sacrilege! Laphroaig is a wonderful drop! Although funnily enough, the last time I had some was on Christmas Eve and on Christmas morning I did feel like a bear had shat in my head.
