The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Rhys Thomas, Ben Castle, Andy Fenby and Bill McLaren above the bar!

Oh no. After working from home yesterday due to man flu, I decided to get into work today as I am very busy. Discovered that the bloody heating is all broken and its FREEZING here.
Im wearing my Ulster wooly hat (thanks again Rava) and trying to keep warm with a coffee.

That's no good, Stag. At least your favourite rugby tournament kicks off this weekend.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Lucky, you know what I am actually thoroughly looking forward to the 6 Nations this year believe it or not. I've decided to embrace it for what it is and not judge it against a certain (vastly better) European club competition.
Reasons this will be a top 6 Nations:
- Teams are not thinking of the RWC as much - they want to WIN now
- 3 new managment teams and plenty of new faces
- Competition; England, France, Ireland, Wales have won last 4 tournaments
- Italy have a new top class stadium which should be interesting
- I'm going to at least 4 Six Nations games this year rather than watching on TV
Oh and the dynamic breathtaking flair that Dan Parks will bring to the Scottish backline. . .

There's really no need for that now, is there? You know how depressed I am, it's just a below the belt comment ...red_stag wrote:Lucky, you know what I am actually thoroughly looking forward to the 6 Nations this year believe it or not. Apparently there's snow forecast for Murrayfield tomorrow. Playing Dan Parks could turn out to be a masterstroke.
Busy day's work then, Hughie?

Asbo if its any consolation I died a little inside too when I saw he had been picked.

Hmm, i don't think his one-trick-ponyness will be any more effective whether it blows a gail, snows, heatwaves or hailsluckless_pedestrian wrote:Apparently there's snow forecast for Murrayfield tomorrow. Playing Dan Parks could turn out to be a masterstroke.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
As, someone said on another thread that the worst thing about Dan Parks getting the nod is that he's not even playing that well for the Blues. It's one thing selecting a limited player who's playing his limited game well, but if he isn't - and he isn't - it looks a daft decision. All the dafter when there are a couple of excellent alternatives available.
But you'll win tomorrow all the same. I feel it in my (frozen) water.

Wow!
That is soooooo exciting!
But, you'd better keep quiet about it in case Gibbo sees this and you have to visit him while you are there!

Cari - feck a B&B. Insist that he cooks you dinner. I hear he cooks a mean Zuurkoolstamppot.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning all,
Nice wok on the day off Cari, and hope you fell better soon Munsty.
Joys of having people visit, another late night last night. Though my friend bought some nice (Balvenie 14yo rum cask finish), so no hangover today. He wants to do the rounds of the central London Walkabouts and the Porterhouse tonight, plus do at least part of the Waitangi Day Circle Line pub crawl tomorrow so I'm going to be recording the 6N matches to hopefully watch tomorrow night.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning All,
Glad to hear Penfro's Mam is recovering well and is on the mend.
Congrats to Swanny on her new job.
Staggy powering on with the man-flu despite the bung heaters.
Hughie... hang in there Champ!
and keep smiling Lucky!
I've had a weird week. Started off nice and easy on Monday taking a Japanese bird around Syd Uni and surrounding areas. It was a day off and the weather was superb. Great fun returning to the scene of the crime. So much has changed. It's so hip now.
Got a call from a builder mate early on Tuesday asking me to assist in some huge building tenders (started Wednesday) - old army assets which need a lot of work done - or demolish. 42 buildings over 3 massive sites on the edge of the bush. By this time it had started raining... and hasn't stopped since. I saw a very wet (dark chocolate coloured) wallaby bounce out from a bush near a river on one of the sites - the power of it's acceleration gave me a bit of a fright! (I won't mention the freshly shed snake skin I saw.... stripy it was, so not a 'brown'?)
I'm working alongside 3 Irish - one from Belfast, one from Limerick and another from Armagh (lovely lass). A bit of Irish/Gaelic? was spoken. The rest are Aussies. Great bunch of people but I'm suffering from a bit of brain overload at the moment.
On top of that - my phone has been ringing a bit too - the Japanese machine tool biz is starting to kick on. So the days have been long. Time differences means that I'm working well into the night and I haven't had a chance to be on here since Wednesday.
Better do my SG tips now... and hope Oz get India out for under 130. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

no, she was geisha-shuffling beside me as I dropped little pieces of cake on the cobblestones. She came over from Singapore with my brother - I took her to some alternative shopping streets around Newtown.

Are we taking bets on at least one4 of us knowing the Irish folks you are working with?
Eirebilly,
If the thought of Cari on a bicycle is scarey I'm not sure how she would cope with an engine!

I was wondering that too Mrs P.
They're aged between 23-27. Two of them studied building/surveying at the same school. I thought that was a big enough co-incidence!
The young lass used to work at EasyJet... I have trouble understanding every word she says but I'm sure my ears will get used to it.

Isn't that what you are supposed to do with tea?
Don't the connoisseurs say that is the best way to appreciate the flavour?

Surely driving without a licence while drinking tea isn't a good idea.
That reminds me of a letter to a newspaper they read out on the Big Breakfast years ago: 'I was driving to work this morning when I was overtaken by a woman who was doing her makeup. I was so shocked I almost dropped my electric shaver into my coffee.'

I am genuinely contemplating selling my Wales v Ireland ticket and watching it in a cosy bar. Man Flu is destroying me. At minimum I'll need hip flask at the game.
