The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Rhys Thomas, Ben Castle, Andy Fenby and Bill McLaren above the bar!

Christ, Munster's Future is phhoked. De Claw and Gallimh wouldn't be playing soccerball, or watching Ireland in a Pub.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Because I'm helping to make brownies with a friend for a CU event so we'll be in the kitchen of his house.
I do know it's football, but I have gotten to the stage where I'd just much prefer to be playing sport than watching it. Plus, last Saturday, we played a game of football and it was probably the best spirit I've seen sport played in. Really encouraged me that sport can be good in that sense.

I don't think many folks would miss out on playing sport to watch it would they? Especially not a team sport.

Your right Gibbo. Was just a fleeting notion.
BTW de Claw and Gallimh wouldnt have been watching Ireland at all. Just preparing for Munsters next match.
Munsty only joshing.

Roberts & Priestland in. Makes it so much more interesting. They might give us a decent game now...

Cuthbert's in, too. If Ireland have any sense they'll be testing him under the high ball and kicking in behind him. George North's not too clever when he's kicked to, so why risk another winger who's worse?

Its a very good Welsh team. Ireland need to bully them up front and have them living off scraps.

Afternoon pub
Just been out and realised what a disgraceful state my car is in! Blydi gritters. Think I may treat to her to trip to the valeters this afternoon, it's too cold to do it myself.
And I now have a start day for my new job. Next Wednesday Going to have to dig out my work clothes again, I've not needed them for 3 months! And try and remember how to set my alarm clock...

Today's scores from the Wellington 7s for anyone interested. Some interesting pools there, with Canada the surprise package.

Keith Earls is out of the Wales game. Fergus McFadden in at 13.
His new baby daughter is very ill in hospital apparently. Hope it works out.

Wish Earls' daughter well, and hope Keith is alright. McFadden gets his shot, needs to take it.
Also I'm missing all the Wales/Ireland game because I'm playing a soccer match. It#s the reason why iPlayer,RTE player and their ilk were created

Yea will do Gibbo. As far as I understand it, it isn't life threatening but Keith feels that he should be there instead of playing a rugby match
Thats the mark of a man. The chance to step into BODs shoes and deliver a top class performance cementing his place in the Irish team. He says "sod that, family is most important".
Whatever about being a top class centre he is already gonna be a top class Dad. I believe his relationship and his girlfriends pregnancy influenced him against a move to France.

All the best to the Earls family. Bit of a no brainer to make that decision when your wee kid is unwell. But good on him for doing so.

When I was over in Cardiff I was fed leeks at Penfros - how stereotypical (though very very yummy).
We were tempted to give him spuds and turnips but Mam felt that such staple foods were ill fitting when we had company.

Leeks aren't actually Welsh Staggy. They were introduced by the Romans. They became a symbol of Wales later.

Potatoes aren't actually Ireland. Sir Walter Raleigh is credited with planting the first ever spuds in Ireland in the 16th Century.

I like spuds. Not keen on turnips, but prefer swede.

Dutch is very similar to German.
I assume that worst means sausage like wrust. And lekker means tasty?

Its not as similar to German as you would think stag. I speak both and German is much easier to learn and understand than Dutch.
If you can speak Dutch, you can understand a lot in German, Swedish and Norwegian.

German is a very easy language. I would consider myself fluent.
Started learning French recently and its much tougher.

Really? It looks so similar. My girlfriend is Polish and I find it incredible.
I can say basic things in it like hello, how are you, order food, count to 10 etc in Polish but its off the wall.

Maybe Dutch would have been easier to learn if you hadn't already learnt German, Billy. You wouldn't have had German as a frame of reference.
