The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Sergio Parisse and Owen Farrell above the bar.

Yes. I don't know why he picked on Cork.
I loved the symbolism they built into the stadium. The steps to the balcony are about a third of a pace, because there's a step for every county. It's things like that which create character in concrete.

Probably right Thom, but fairly inevitable all the same. I await the move with anticipation. I can see all sorts of arguments ensuing. Not least when a County (say Dublin for example) offers someone from another County more money to play for them.

It's because Cork people are better than everyone else, they just don't know it. I have never done the Croker tour, it's a great stadium. Was in the Corporate for Cork's semi against the Jackeens(Dublin) a few years ago. On the way up they have some incredible designs on the walls. Also having dessert at half time and the meal just before it was a fantastic idea, Cork were down by about 5 and I though my Croke Park Curse was going to continue (I was 0 in 7 at trips to Croker) and the cheesecake helped calm the head. Dublin bottling it also helped.

Cork were held up as a county "strong in the Football and the Hurling" during the tour Thomond. We were also told that Moss Keane had taught the Lions gaelic football and had a game of Wales v the rest, but had to keep changing the rules to give the rest a chance!

Cork are notroious underacheivers in football, but are the best dual county around. Those pesky Dubliners are on our coat tails though. We won't get into the fact that Dublin receive more funding than other counties, despite having the best resources.

Any chance of Hump playing? If Penfro was to lend me his ticket again....
Pretty much certain he will be.

Pete, to answer your question from earlier, Flood looked rusty, kicks a little too long, a couple of wrong decisions, charged down for our try and generally a fraction of the pace. Tuilagi looked closer, but there a small chance he will be cited for a swinging arm, likewise Julian White for stamping (which would leave Tigers almost without a TH prop). Allen was Leics most impressive back, really strong in the tackle and BOD-like work at the breakdown

Did more people go to the Arms Park to watch Cardiff Blues play or was it just that it's a more atmospheric stadium?

Mrs P there was an advert on now about feminine itching. Is that a medical term or something the advertisers have just made up?

Give us the link T. I'd love to put him in his place. Ive been to Paradise. And there's only one thing more bigoted and disillusioned than a staunch Rangers supporter. Yes. You guessed it.
Plastic Paddies and Plastic Brits. Evolution is not working here. There is no country. There is no religion. There are no regions. There are no provinces. There is no parish. The game was rigged eons ago. The man-made barriers are self-limiting intellectually. Dont want to upset anyone, but phhok it.
Lets evolve and try change it. Together. For my mate Big-John Steenson. Cockney Bar Steward went and left me. Possibly the best man Ive ever met.

It's in the how would Celtic/Rangers fare in the premier league thread. I'm making a case for the LOI against the Old firm saying it would be a close match but getting laughed at.

Rovers and Cork City could take on Celtic and Rangers as they are now. Not before. But they could give em a close game now. Sad for Scottish football. I remember its glory days. They invented ground-football. And taught the English.
Celtic and Rangers, are now at old English 2nd-division team level. I think ye call it the Championship now. Which is also a load of marketing bollix. Its the 2nd-Division FFS.

Cork City wouldn't have a hope of beating Celtic. A few years too soon. Rovers would give it a good lash alright.
Spanish Football is heading in the same direction as Scotland (might have to write something about that)

It's getting boring at this stage. They don't realise their league is a heap of Poopie. The LOI probably isn't better but at least people are willing to admit it.

Nope, not interested . Don't think it would be feasible either with Uefa regualtions regarding allocation of European Spots. Let the Scots rot in the mess they created.

I'm going to head away now, let you deal with the delusional Scots. Interestingly Scottish rugby fans think they are worse than they are and have a hatred for a player who was great at harnessing their strengths, while the soccer fans just think they're brilliant!

Bore da pawb / good morning all, and all that!
This kind of advertising makes me laugh. Just say what these things actually are, no one will mind. It's like women's deodorant adverts talk about 'underarms,' which I always thought was a way of throwing a ball. Since when did 'armpit' become a dirty word? But my absolute favourite thing about adverts is the way identical products are marketed so differently to men and to women. Dove deodorant, for example: for women, it has 'one quarter moisturiser,' whereas Dove Men Care deodorant has 'one quarter moisturising technology,' which is much more butch and acceptable. It's the same stuff!

Morning Hughie, Glas, Rava & Lucky... and whoever else is lurkin'. and a bit later
Quiet day putting together master plans for demo sites. It's a race against time to get a handle on all the quantities involved... so many buildings in such poor condition. Just take photos of them and a CAD drawing as record before they get demolished. We then have to remediate the sites. Large areas of asphalt still but we'll fill in the holes where the buildings were and sew some natural seed there.
There's 3 different sites... all huge.
Also building a new pontoon facility, widening the harbour and recycling the old piers.
Demolishing sewerage treatment plant, sort materials for recycling/reuse, refilling the holes and reclaiming the site back to a natural environment.
Trial matches have started here already; league and union. Already a few injuries even before the S15 starts in a couple of weeks.
It's clashing with the end of the cricket season which started later than usual.
Anyway it's too hot to play football. More like cricket weather here still with long hot humid summer days & cool nights.
