The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of
ST DAVID, THE Prince of Wales and WALE'S CAPTAIN
Happy St David's day

Sounds tasty Glas, I'm quite partial to cured ham - but does the back bacon grill or is it best left cured?
It can be grilled if you soak it to get the excess salt out and leave it to dry overnight. Bit of a faff but it's worth it.
We used to kill and salt a pig at home. Then we had central heating put in. When we were kids my dad used to tell us the fat was white meat so we'd eat it (it was mainly white meat). We also had chickens and I can still remember the colour of the yokes.
Sounds like a perfect example of delayed gratification then! Us Black Country folk are big on pigs too Glas, my grandad used to say there's only two parts of a pig you can't eat. It's eyes and it's squeal...
He used to make brawn from a boiled pig's head and drain it off in one of me gran's old stockings.
Yokes was practically orange in the good old days.
Goodnight, nos da pub.

Fair play to the arsenal. All the damage was done in the first leg.

Ozzy3213 wrote:This performance shouldn't be used to mask the deficiencies though Gibbo. The fact that we are clearly heavily reliant on an 18 year old who has only played 9 first team games has to be a worry.
We have some talent in the squad, but Wenger needs to find the missing pieces of the jigsaw that will see us challenging for honours again.
Yes Pete, but he must also not try to exclusively BUY it. Must mix it up and give precedence to - the Arsenal Academy. Like Leinster roysh.
He has a big money-pot to use now. Arsenal are one of the few, or only, Prem sides in the black.
I think he is a stunning manager. From all aspects. So cultured. So intelligent. And it shows in the sides he develops. He needs a midfield-enforcer, a back line enforcer and a striker to compliment Van Persie, for sure. Needs to strengthen the Spine and let the rest play freely around them. I think your future is the brightest of all the top Prem teams. It wont be - if ye lose him.

Hugs, I think he has over-relied on the young players he has developed. Really admirable. But. Maybe a bit too much. The game in Milan, proved that.
I think he will go for 2 or three top spelers and break the bank for VP. He has made money for Arsenal FC, when other managers were bleeding their clubs dry. See Fergie with de Yanks. And that criminal Abramovich at Chelsea upping the anti for all competitors. 5 managers in 5 years, says it all about the corporate sickness, that permeates the English Premiership. Wont even mention the madness that is Man City.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
woo 4th! 100 points off first though:( I blame the fact I forgot to make changes for the 2nd week so still had the idiot Bradley in my side.
My picking of 1/2p as captain right from the very start though proved to be inspired, he's gotten me a shed load of points!
And bore da all, hope everyone's well?
Almost the end of my working week. Got no work on Friday as am heading back West, first for the dentist (ych) and then coz my Grandad wants us to have a get together. Tis my grandparents and my parents' wedding anniverseries this weekend, so will be nice to have a get together for it. Think our Sunday lunch is going to clash with the Scarlets match though. Pain.

It's going to be messy mick, just as long as we resign ourselves to that now we will be sound. They way I sees it is, a half none flight Sunday morning requires me to still be tipsy enough to be able to smash a few pints early in the airport Sunday morning and wave bye bye to my hangover

At least you won't be legging it for the last bus Hughie. I presume there will be enough of ye heading to the Briggan that it'll be economical to hangaround for late pints then get a jo maxi.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning all,
Happy birthday for yesterday Notch.
I was in a winning team at Highbury last night, top of the table clash, and in the 3rd quarter we managed to hold the other team to an UK Eurovision score - nil points . So we went from 1 down at half-time to 5 up at the 3/4. Roll on the semi-finals next week!
Afterwards I joined friends in a pub nearby for a quiz, and we managed 2nd place (of 12 teams). And we won a round of shots in one of the bonus rounds for drawing the best ad for a "celebrity-endorsed dildo". (we went with a Darth Vader Star Wards theme, having the good Christian lass in the team do the drawing worked a treat. Even though we had to show her a picture of Darth Vader first because she'd never seen Star Wars )

Mick - you'll be absolutely fine then
I am actually feeling more nervous about the Scarlets match on Sunday then I am about the Wales match on Sat. Not sure that's right.
