Redskins are up next and skins4ever has the pick!
True 30years I think since a Lineman was took in the 1st, but JJ has tried to do it on the cheap with late round selctions sure Free has paid off and he was a 4th round choice but it took him 4 years to get to start, no point in waiting 2 years for another OT to come of age and then pay a fortune in FA to sign a RT as OT come with the big salaries might as well pay a rookes around $30million the same as a good FA but get 10 years out of the guy. I think JJ knows this and why Smith will be the 1st Round OL taken by Dallas in 30years

And the Cowboys make Mike Pouncey look just a little bit silly, but I agree with the pick.

Haha I would love that. Pouncey should keep his mouth shut and stop talking himself up. He came across as pretty arrogant imho.

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
Quinn is very highly rated by Mike Mayock, who seems to be a pretty good talent evaluator. Considering he was considered to be a contender for this years 1st overall pick last season, if he is as talented as he appears without the knucklehead attitude he could be one of the steals of the draft. I will definitely be keeping an eye on him no matter where he ends up

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
He visited the Cowboys a few days ago then tweeted:
"Headed back to Pittsburgh ... would be shocked if i wasn't in a dallas uniform nxt year!"
then followed it up later with:
"To all the steelers fans i would love to be playing for the steelers and if i had a choice i would but it isnt my choice."
Not sure the two statements are compatible, if it's not his choice with regard to the Steelers surely he realises the same is true for the Cowboys. But then maybe he's just getting overexcited pre-draft.
Still, not the most clever thing to say.

I don't think theres as much in that statement as some are making out. I think its more he expects to be drafted by the Cowboys given what they obv said to him during his visit

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
The cowboys could still take Pouncey but not with the 9th overall pick no OG is worth that. They would have to deal back into the 1st round maybe with the Pats at 28 who always look to trade down, but it would cost us lat least 2/2nd round picks 1 this year and one next year.

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
I agree that it's not the worst statement anyone has made this year but I can't see any reason to say it at all. Especially as it is highly unlikely that Dallas would pick him at 9 and anything could happen after that.

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
I heard that Pouncey could fall far enough to get picked by the Giants but I don't think he'll be available by then.
Quick question, if this mock goes further than round 1 how many picks do the Colts have overall?
Can't find out anywhere.

I think it was just a poor choice of comment could have just said it went well. He should also realise he probably won't be taken at 9 and I don't expect he will be around when their second pick comes about. Also don't the teams try to make every player who visits go away thinking they're the teams top choice.

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
Everyone is saying Julio Jones for the Skins so I'll go with...
JJ Watt, DE, Wisconsin
Because the Skins need a more than capable player on the DL (after trading or waiving Big Fat Al) far more than they need another star WR that is unlikely to produce in year 1, especially with Grossman throwing to him. That said, Just watch the Skins go for Jones, though if they had real sense they'd trade down for a bunch of picks to fill out a roster seriously low on depth.

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
Seems like a wise choice to me, I agree with the point that choosing a WR is unlikely to improve the Skins massively, if you have the same QBs, and 10th is too high to be taking any of the remaining QBs. Not sure who the options would be regarding a trade it is only likely to be the Rams who are worried you will take their first choice (probably Jones)

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
Interesting pick. On a team that needs help just about everywhere its hard to criticize for passing on another need, but a pass rusher had to be tempting, possibly Aldon Smith. Watt is a solid enough pick though.

Pass rusher was a decent shout for the skins but I reckon their bigger problem was the D Line. Orakpo is a hell of a player but when the O Lines can focus on him it makes sense to pick someone who can collapse the pocket from the defensive line

It wasn't a WUM pick and I'm not a WUM. I was going to pick Mallett in the 2nd round if this got far enough. Aside from Peterson, Sheppard was LSU's best defensive player last season.
Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
Ok so Watt is off the board and the Skins have their hole plugger. Orakpo should be capable of some pretty awesome things if he has space to work with.

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
Interesting pick again!
Obviously, the Texans secondary is in dire need of help but they are switching to a Wade Phillips 3-4 defense and I'm not sure they have the personnel for that.
Mario Williams will be going to 3-4 DE but do they have the OLB presence to generate a pass rush?
Next up is GSC and the Vikings!

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
For me, there is more depth at D Line this year than the secondary, so I am sure that they could pick up someone in the second round who can rush the passer. Prince was seen as one of the top players in the draft so I agree with the pick, probably BPA and fills a need

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
I was hoping Quinn would fall to 11 as I’m not sure if Cushing or Barwin can play OLB. Don't understand the switch either but can they get any worse, their D was horrid last year.
Prince and Jackson, if he improves, could be a nice tandem but they still have major holes at safety.

I thought about Amakamara for the Titans but I've heard a few judges say that he's too aggresive and could be a penalty machine, and pens at CB are usually as good a 30 yard completions....

OK it was not a WUM pick, then you obviously havent looked into, or care, about the prospects. (or you are an idiot) Why no Mallet 1, Sheppards 2nd round (still disgustingly reaching for both) Atleast then you are covering people not reaching for Mallet such as Seattle, and then sheppard will be there in 2nd as he isnt even graded near there.
Idea of a mock is not to pick a player from your favourite team, but pick a player you think they might pick there with goo reason.

If you were going to take mallet in the second why didn't you choose gabbert in the first? Who is meant to be the most NFL ready quarterback in the draft.manning-to-manningham wrote:

Now this is certainly a matter of opinion. While I don't want to get involved in biccaring, Gabbert has come uot of a spread offense at Missouri, much the same as Cam Newton at Auburn. Mallett plays in a pro-style offense and so he will be more adept at reading coverages and blitzes. He will have to go through progressions and target multiple receivers instead of Gabbert and Newton who just look at one receiver and run if he's well covered.
Personally, I think that if he sorts his attitude out, Ryan Mallett is a great propect. He has the best arm of all the QBs in this year's class, he accurate and he's clever. If he can become a leader too, he'll be a decent NFL QB.

Yes I know how mock drafts work. I didn't pick because he's from LSU, I picked him because I think he will be more than capable in the NFL. Obviously someone deviating from the plan upsets you so it won't happen again, ok? Can we drop it now?

Not after a childish remark like that. So you picked him because hes capable, or worth a top-5 pick in the draft. It was a rediculous pick, and you know it was. You beleive tht despite being ranked between the 4th-6th best ILB that there is even a possibility of that happening? even a very very slight one?
You did pick him because he went to LSU. As you beleive he will suceed more than the other ILB (not that any of them should be taken there) as you saw more of him, followin your team, and not really being compared to the others. Can end it now if you wish.

Just to answer this point, Rak is the team pass rusher, and I expect they'll replace Carter on t'other side with an FA or lower draft pick. In our 3-4 we need a replacement for the NT and LE (Al going and Daniels ageing if not gone). With no true NT talent worth #10, Watt seemed a logical choice. However, given the lack of depth, I'd go with lower picks and hope to pick up both a NT and a 3-4 DE in the draft, then address QB and WR as lower priorities.

Minnesota Vikings select Da'Quan Bowers, DE
My favorite player in the draft, and a player who very well could've ended up going #1 were it not for injury concerns has far too much value to pass up at #12. Teamed up with Jared Allen, the two could become a dominant duo.

NT are a premuim in any draft as a true NT are hard to come by Taylor is rising up the boards I have watched him for a while when he was nothing more than a 4th round boom or bust, the guy is now projected late 1st round from 21 onwards

Re: 606v2 Mock Draft
Basically I wanted Prince Amukamara to fall to the Lions because there corners are nothing special and they face Cutler and Rodgers every year (so in theory I shouldn’t want them to draft a corner!). He’s gone and it’s too much of a reach for Brandon Harris, Jimmy Smith or Aaron Williams at #13.
In the absence of that the Lions need to protect their investment in Matthew Stafford. If the Browns game the year before last told me anything it was that Matt Stafford can play at a high level and gut it out, but you can’t do that with a dismantled shoulder.
Jeff Backus is what 33? They need to invest in the LT of the future and Costanzo is their man.
The Rams are on the clock…
