First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Georgia, because rugbydreamer wants the Scarlets to find a nice forward out there.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of birthday boy Hughie, Chris Budgen, Leo Cullen, Brian O'Driscoll, Paddy Wallace, Tomas O'Leary and a red faced Ronan O'Gara on the wall.

Ale cuppa coffee mug guinness cider RedWine

Thomond, was that the Kerry footballer yeah?? Heard about that on the radio yesterday

Willy et all ulster fans.

Will ulster give up on trying make the rabo playoffs now?? Can they realistically compete on both fronts, could you imagine if Ferris gets injured the week before the semi playing the scarlets or someone. That'd be horrid. So is it all or nothing in the heino now for you guys??

I saw he made those comments Munsty. I'm really not particularly sympathetic to either side of the debate. To be a guest in someone's country means you respect their rules and traditions. Richards seems ignorant. But to be annoyed at someone who doesn't share your religious beliefs doing something is like being annoyed at someone eating a doughnut because you're on a diet.

Oh yes, and hello World! I do believe I'll be planning a trip to Dublins fair city in the next few days. What a match. 160 tackles made by Ulster- unbelievable.

He makes a fair point, hes gone about it in an ar$e about face way and made himself look like a moaning child but its a valid point. If your holding a world your inviting the world into your country, you do whatever you can to make people happy and feel welcome

I think we should rest some players against Connacht for sure Hugh. Then see where we are after that game.

I would pick to play Connacht on Saturday;

1. Paddy McAllister
2. Nigel Brady
3. John Afoa
4. Johann Muller (c)
5. Lewis Stevenson
6. Pedrie Wannenburg
7. Willie Faloon
8. Robbie Diack
9. Paul Marshall
10. Ian Humphreys
11. Ian Whitten
12. Luke Marshall
13. Nevin Spence
14. Stefan Terblanche
15. Adam D'Arcy

16. Andi Kyriacou 17. Callum Black 18. Adam Macklin 19. Neil McComb 20. Chris Henry 21. Ruan Pienaar 22. Paddy Jackson 23. Craig Gilroy

10 changes. Need some recovery time for a lot of guys!

I dont see us as favs T. Not in France and not against a multi-talented, uber-rich and fully HC committed French team. They want it and they want it bad. We will have to play even better than last year' s SF and then some, to get through.

The real positive is we havent really got out of 2rd gear yet and Cullen, BOD and Thorn, are improving by the game. Ross must love Thorn behind him at scrum time and it showed. That game will be something else.

Rev! Cross Keys won? Brilliant. Pirates are great side. Was at the Leinster Munster SF on Fri night. We were awful and I expect they got a severe rollicking fron Schmidt after it. Munster showed how a far weaker (on paper) A team, can overcome those Ladyboy mini-galacticos. Was really not impressed with our lot. Showed the wrong attitude and made so many basic errors. I hope he runs the legs off them all week for punishment.

You think English fans will travel if they can't have alcohol? No way hose. I don't agree with the way he is going on about it but a lot of people need beer to enjoy sport, I don't, but I actually think it would have an effect if there was no alochol for sell there. Think of how much money Budweiser/Carlsberg will make from sponsoring the World Cup/European Championships. If they don't get it from proper sellers they will get it from somewhere else.

Hughie with the semi-final coming in just two weeks there will be a few guys getting a rest against Connacht but it would be very silly to take the eye off the Rabo ball and assume we are going to get through against Edinburgh.
We need to get a win in Galway and the team should reflect that. There will be a few guys itching to put in a performance mind. I thought it was a strange (worked though) decision not to make some changes yesterday. Some guys were out on their feet in the last ten minutes yesterday.

Notch,

As much as 1f has been the inspiration of this ulster side, its was proven against Tigers away that without Mr. Pienear you will struggle. Wrap that man in cotton wool for the next three weeks and pray nout happens to him.

Rav, what crowd do you expect for the semi. I read somewhere that ulster have requested 20,000

At the end of the day the Qatar WC is 10 years away. Plenty of time for them to relax a few rules in preparation.

Thats very sad about Egan, T. May he RIP. Great to see he has passed on his talent down the line. It makes some sense of it all.

And Happy happy Notch, your dreams, passion and disappointments down the years, are finally being rewarded in spades. Delighted for you, Rav, All the P's, Willser and the rest of the Ulster gals & boys. Sublime feeling eh pal? Enjoy every second of it. NO reason ye cant go on and win it now. None. OK

I thought Darren Cave was immense yesterday. The boy became a man at the highest level. Were you watching Deccie? As for 1F? Man, unreal. What a born leader on the field. He effected that win more than anyone imo. Peinaar really earned his shekels. Those are the days he was brought in for.

As for the soccer WC being held in Quatar and the way they bought Blatter and it wholesale, dont get me started. They shouldnt have got it. Its ridiculous. Im all for spreading sport, but not in such an oppressive country.

It should be about soccer and not alcohol IMO.
I disagree with Thom that the fans won't go if there isn't any booze. No all fans are dependent on beer to enjoy the game.

Earls had an alright game and made Musnter's try but Cave hit everything that moved yesterday superb. I'd say Deccie was watching and thinking "MY style of rugby can win, now that Ulster are playing it" Run

I've been boring everyone about Darren Cave since the game! Glad someone else picked up on it. I stayed with Stag- he's probably sick of hearing about Darren Cave. Smile

Notch is so right about Staggy. He was texting me through the game and was first with his congratulations. Love the man.

Gibbo, I still hope for an all Ireland final but I'll welcome all the support we can get and yours especially. Cheers Bud guinness

Munster fans knowledge, fairness and behaviour in victory and defeat, has been hard-earned for near 20 years now. I am reading nothing but praise for them from Norn-Iron folk, all over the media this morn. That' s what makes a club really Great. Its not all about the team by a long shot. Toulouse and Tigers are the same. Just class. Munsty, Stag, Billy and T et al, define it and carry it so well with them - wherever they go. Needs to be said.

In the middle of planning my trip with Puma down to Bordeaux. She was going to fly to Amsterdam, we were driving down together and I was going to ask Chef for his 1st class hospitality and usual ASM abuse... Cool All seemed like the perfect plan for a great rugby weekend.

Just talked to MrsG. That weekend is Koniningedag(like Paddys Day on steroids). My oldest son and partner, my fav niece and her BF and my other sons GF, are coming that weekend. Glad I didnt mention the SF date.

Sooo no Bordeaux for Gibbo. Its no contest. Ah weel, Ive had a great run for live HC games. Disappointed about the rugby, but cant wait for a great weekend in the Dam with those I love. We shall adjourn to an Irish pub for it.

It was a brilliant peice of individual play. He fully backed himself, all the way to the try-line, even with players either side of him. I thought he'd blown it tbh. But. He must be an Irish Dancer. Those feet!

Defence wasnt great though in all fairness. But he didnt care.

The way he beat Hurley was brilliant. Zebo and Jones never stood a chance after that. He went through a period earlier in the year where nothing was coming off for him. He has stepped it up again in the last few games.

Steffan Jones out for the season. Bad news for Keys, possible chance for Tovey to get his 9 points for the Dragons top points scorer. I'm sure Darren Edwards will find some way of not using Tovey though.

The defending for Gilroy's try was some of the most pathetic defending I have seen in my time as a rugby fan. Absolutely abysmal. Hurley lacks pace to be a true wing maybe a full back but not a winger. As for Zebo and Jone's tackle attempts. You would see better tackles in U-17 games.

No way ERC will cut prices. Anyway there should be in the region of 30-35 thousand at the game.

At that stage, you get him down by any means necessary, there were defenders there covering any offload. He should have gone low instead of high. Pathetic defending regardless.

Zebo never tried to go low. He was looking for the high tackle, it is a very hard tackle to make but he could have made a better attempt. Jones was the real culprit though.

Seriously Thomond, watch it again. Zebo was coming across and was going for the tackle and then he was stepped. Not an easy thing to do and I would certainly not blame him for it.

He got stepped easily, but he was the covering defender so he isn't the main man at fault, Jones and Hurley are.

Happy Easter everyone.

Back from an absolutely wonderful week down in the wilds of West Cork. One of our most enjoyable weeks we have ever had as a family, and that was before yesterday even started.

What a week.

And then what a match!

There will be some extremely tired but extremely happy Ulster players this morning.

Anyone out there manage to have the ways and means to get a copy of the entire game to us would be wonderful news?

Oh, and we saw our Hughie on the highlights of the Leinster match.
