The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Georgia, because rugbydreamer wants the Scarlets to find a nice forward out there.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of birthday boy Hughie, Chris Budgen, Leo Cullen, Brian O'Driscoll, Paddy Wallace, Tomas O'Leary and a red faced Ronan O'Gara on the wall.

It is just in West Cork around an hour from the city, lovely picturesque spot. Had a barbeque on Saturday there like. Bless my Grandad for building his house there.

I love you Munsty x
Yeah, you're right Hughie Brick.
Probably watch Catalans v Warrington for a bit. I assume it's Perpignan, but the weather is lush anyway. I need to get myself on an Amlin trip to Southern France again ASAP.

Haha. Great news.
Lovely score by Millard for the Catalans there. Real afterburners.

End of holiday blues staved off. Did some farming and a Police Station call. Then had lunch in the PYS Beefeater and went to see my college mates new baby. You forget how small they are. Glas was the only one who could get her to sleep

I'm tried looking for an each way on them when I heard the stat that Leon Price in his career has only ever not got to one Grand Final (with all his clubs). They were very good today though.

Oh also in work today it was relatively quiet for a bank holiday. But my word, the amount of people wearing Ulster rugby paraphernalia? One little QF win and suddenly everyone's a fan.

Willy, Ulster officially have a bandwagon! It is good and bad, makes it a lot tougher to get tickets now!

Jeez Willy you should have seen it 13 years ago mate
Wait till you see Dublin in a couple of weeks time.
No Thom. Regular fans wont have a problem getting tickets. Part time fans wont either as there will be enough to go around.
Stay at home Leinster fans might want to get on board though.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
Hi all,
Quietness has returned to West Cork.
Congrats to Ulster, Leinster, Clermont and particularly Edinburgh (just because it was the most unexpected result).
BTW, MrsP and family were not in the "posh" part of West Cork. The posh part, where all the D4 hooligans go is further south, around Schull, Ballydehob and the sailing areas. Béara is fishing and (formerly) mining territory. Very beautiful, but fortunately not many grockles.

It is a slightly posh part but it's not that bad. I am from Cork like. It is a lovely spot no denying that.

I don't do posh, Thomond. When we were house hunting, couldn't afford a garage in Schull area, cos of all the holiday homes down there. I have been very surprised how few there seems to be here, given, as you say, it is a lovely spot.

A lot of spots in West Cork have tons of empty houses. Down by our family spot there are a good 10 or so empty houses which were built in the boom that are now empty.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
They were very restrictive around here, Thom, for some reason. The chap that we bought from was trying to get planning permission to build on another half acre beside us, but was refused because it was obviously speculative. Neededd to have a firm justification for building - for a son or daughter who was going to live in the house. Although there are a few holidsay home developments on the other side of the peninsula (around Allihies and Eyeries), there are not very many compared to some other parts of the country.
A few years ago, the locals wanted to develop a leisure centre to attract more tourists, but one of the holiday home owners objected. He is quite famous and it caused an almighty ruckus here. I doubt anyone locally has been to see any of his films since then.

Jeremy Irons and Roy Disney have a spot not too far from Courtmacsherry (by that I mean a good 20/30km on kind of a cliff edge)

Schull was the worst we stayed in a friend's house down near there about 20 years ago and you could walk down the main street celebrity spotting, even then. I have heard that Irons is a good bloke, i.e. he gets on well with the locals and doesn't throw his celebrity weight around.

Guess what? I already have a ticket for Dublin sorted out
Whole family is going, sister and brother-in-law too. My mum was at the game, had a good auld chin wag with MrsP, she doesn't normally take an interest but the first away trip she comes on with us we win in Thomond so she'll damn well be coming to the next one!
Happy birthday David. It's good we have so many Ulster regs, I met up with rodders at the weekend. We had a real life shouting match about Willie Faloon. Very heated exchange, very enjoyable. Pretty much my dream date- just a shame he brought his girlfriend along

Evening all again!
It was great to see loads of Ulster fans. We got to meet Rodders too very briefly. Before the game we all went into the Thomond Museum which was great crack.
Just don't ask Stag who won the throw in contest!
Where abouts in Lansdowne are you sitting Notch, and anyone else who is going?
