The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Georgia, because rugbydreamer wants the Scarlets to find a nice forward out there.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of birthday boy Hughie, Chris Budgen, Leo Cullen, Brian O'Driscoll, Paddy Wallace, Tomas O'Leary and a red faced Ronan O'Gara on the wall.

See this is the confusion because some churches end then, others end on Saturday, some on Easter Sunday and some on Monday....I thought I'd go down the middle!

Having seen the highlights of the Blues game, that was some of the most pathetic defending I have ever seen. Leinster were good but the Blues were pure shoite for quarter finalists. I know they have a lot of injuries but still
Also Edinbugh, fecking delighted with that. Question is will Bradley replace McGahan or Kidney?

I've just had home grown leg of Welsh lamb at my mother's.
Miss G had all the little cuttings from the bottom of the shank. Spoilt in a heap by her grandparents that girl.

This Sarries v Clermont game is being played at a hell of a pace; quite a bit of kicking though. Clermont deservedly ahead 9-3 at ht.

I've recorded that and am recording the Scarlets game to watch later. I've had to bring my daughter and friends to Belfast for a concert. I will be hanging around here for the next four hours or so.

Well done. Big result. Historic.
Popping out half time to pick up a Chinese and the Radio Cymru pundit said "black players often have poor hands but if they catch it they are very fast"
OMFG! Lucky nobody was listening.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
Don't worry Dreamer, it's Rugby, these things happen. We are not strong enough to compete on two fronts or indeed just in the Amlin. We have lost two many front five (again). We need a second row and a tight head. Barnes breakdown interpretation seemed inconsistent, but actually we were leaving players isolated for too long and we were fanning out and not committing. Even though we lost too much ball, a bit of game management at the end in taking the penalty offered would have given us a chance to pinch it. In all honesty it would have been daylight robbery. Brive were efficient and robust. We were loose and enigmatic. No shame in the effort. It was not to be. The better team won.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
See I don't think they were the better team. Brive offered pretty much nothing outside of their pack.
And we lost for the same reasons we always lose the close games, and we just don't learn. We could have won that game but the same errors cost us. Brainless.
That's what's got me so disappointed - we just aren't learning.
Bah. Grumble. Harrumph.

Cup rugby Dreamer requires you to keep ahead on the score board by any means, even if that means multiple three pointers. Brive played a good brand of cup rugby, albeit limited. We were caught betwixt and between.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
No we missed kicks. AGAIN. We lacked supporting players at the breakdown AGAIN. We made stupid decisions like not taking the kick at goal AGAIN.
That's not a lot to do with Brive, that's just our own stupidity, and it's the same mistakes we've been making for the last 2 seasons now. I'm just struggling to see where the sings are that we are learning from them.
Credit to Brive. They came to play with a limited gameplan and stuck to it, but when you consider that was effectively their 2nd team out there - no way near good enough by us, and the errors were all our own. Mightily displeased over here.

Brilliant win by Ulster. They showed so much comittment, class and resolve down in Limerick. They will take some beating. Should be a cracker between them & Edinburgh at Lansdowne. This is fantastic for the HC.
ASM showed clear intent today. They beat Sarries all ends up. They want that Cup bad. Leinster will have to up it considerably and for 80mins, to get by them in Bordeaux. Nathan Hines is a beast and a winner. Thank God we have Brad Thorn to handle him. Rougerie was near unstoppable and punched holes all day, at will. Thank Allah we have BOD to handle him.
That game is going down to the wire. I hope and pray that Sexton and Kearney make the real difference betweeen us and them. Thinking of driving down to it. My province needs me.
Hard luck to our Wasps, Scarlets, Chiefs and Munster regs.

Mornin folks
Well well well, my blind faith on munster was blown to shreds in the first 25 minutes of the game yesterday. Ulster deserved it and I'm delighted for them, it'll be some day out of Leinster can turn ASM over as I believe Ulster will have to much for Edinburgh.
Be interesting to see what type of crowd Ulster can get for it. Will all of Ulster converge on Dublin for the day in a sell out?? Probably not but it'd be good to see a 30,000 strong crowd there. I would suggest Mr. Humphreys or whoever is in charge of promoting this game give Leinster a call and get a few pointers in how to fill the stadium.

By the way, finally after probably more than a year, I've got that nervous feeling about a game. Leinster havnt played a single game in all that time that I havnt been fully confident about winning. This game is different and I love it. I get so much more involved when its like this

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
So Hugh how are you today???
Awh sound mate yeah, just chatting to myself like but it ok, I'm great company. How's yourself??
Oh grand, had a good weekend at home at the rugby, you know how it is.
Aye aye I do aye, sure wasn't I there myself.
Oh yeah?? Actually now that you mention it I think I saw you on the tellybox after BODs try.
Yeah you did, watched it myself last night and saw it. Big mutton head in me . What did you reckon about the game??
Watched it again myself last night. All round classy performance right through from the front five to the back three. Cian Healy was immense, Thorn proved he's not just here for a pay cheque, O'Brien was back to his barnstorming best, Reddan was zippy, Sexton was unreal (that inside pass to Lukey for BODs try was poetry) and Rob Kearney just keeps getting better and better and better (what has the lad got to do to win a MOTM award though???)
Jasus they are my exact thoughts on that game as well, what are the odds of that??
That is a coincidence. Now the million dollar question. Why can't they play like that for Ireland??
Oh that's an easy one. It's because the Ulster players are to used to playing with saffers that they have forgotten how to play with Irish players, and it ruins the atmosphere around the Irish camp.
Oh right, I see. Makes sense I suppose.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
Yesterday was possibly the most brainless display of rugby I have ever seen. First thing you're thought from a young age is you can't have forwards taking ball from the scrum half unless it's secure, 3/4 times we lost ball or slowed it down for ourselves by not protecting it. For a while, ROG has stood too deep and this means if Murray gives a quick pass, there is going to be no room by the time it gets to Mafi. ROG you have been great but it's time to get out of here. Would Madigan fancy coming down south?
It was a very solid defensive display from Ulster but that kind of rugby is easy to defend against, that's not taking anything away, Ulster are obviously an incredibly fit side to keep it up for that long but it was stupid stuff. You would think after the first penalty inside his own half Munster would learn but no. Brainless shoite again. Let's mention the try, the worst defending I have seen in my time from a professional team. When I was an underage player and we gave up a try like that, we would be going sprinting for the night at the next training session. Zebo, hit low and make sure you get him down.
Congrats to the Ulster fans it was a very fine win, you deserved it more. Munster waited for something to happen instead of making it happen. There aren't many better Irish fans who deserve it more.
Also, people talk about how the provinces have a conflicting style of play to the national side, that was a performance straight out of the Declan Kidney book of coaching!

I have noticed with Murray, Thomond, he was a great natural talent when he burst on the scene last year, I fear all that natural ability is being coached put of him
And hands off Madigan hes going nowhere

He is doing alright, yesterday he made some poor decisions and left the ball in rucks too long but O'Gara stands so deep it's criminal, kills any fast pass from Murray/O'Leary. With Strings back next year, I think Murray might improve a bit more.
You don't need Madigan anyway, you have Johnny. We'll take Johnny of you so when Madigan's first choice in another 18 months.

Morning pub.
Lot of soul-searching and truth out there this morning. Must be a great feeling for Ulster fans waking up today. Not so good for Munster or Toulouse fans, but they will be back.
This HC QF weekend has really shown its unpredictability, beauty, gut-renching tension, excitement and sheer committment, by everyone involved in it. Its just gets stronger across the board. Ulster & Edinburgh have proved that beyond doubt and I love it.
Had a great weekend with Puma and all the Leinster crew. We asked for a challenge in the SF and man have we got it. ASM's win was by far the most impressive and comprehensive imo. They must be favs now. That suits the rest of us.
Hope everyone is having a great Easter weekend so far.

Gibbo, you will remember this fella, John Egan died yesterday morning. Lives in Cork now and has had fierce problems with alcohol over the last few years. Died of a heart attack reportedly.
His son John jr. is incredibly talented, was on the Cork hurling, football and soccer teams before he left to join Sunderland. He was captain of that Ireland U-19 team that got to the Euro semis last year. He will be a very good player.

One of my many talents buddy ;-)
I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get on asm at the start of the season when they were 9/1 to win the heino. Kicking myself now. However it be a very weird feeling going into the semi knowing I had something to gain from Leinster losing

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
Comments from Dave Richards, the chairman of the English Football Premier League, how ignorant can someone be:
" He also warned fans may boycott the Qatar 2022 World Cup unless beer is made freely available - the sale of alcohol is severely restricted in the Middle Eastern country.
"In our country and in Germany, we have a culture," added Richards. "We call it, 'We would like to go for a pint', and that pint is a pint of beer.
"It is our culture as much as your culture [in Qatar] is not drinking. There has to be a happy medium.
"If you don't do something about it, you are starting to bury your head in the sand a little bit because it needs addressing.
"You might be better off saying don't come. But a World Cup without England, Germany, the Dutch, Danes and Scandinavians. It's unthinkable.""
