The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Georgia, because rugbydreamer wants the Scarlets to find a nice forward out there.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of birthday boy Hughie, Chris Budgen, Leo Cullen, Brian O'Driscoll, Paddy Wallace, Tomas O'Leary and a red faced Ronan O'Gara on the wall.

Evening all, and Happy Birthday to you Dodger.
I'm sure the will sort out you Leinster regs about Bordeaux, but I went there with Wasps earlier in the season and could give you a few pointers if needed.
Knackered now after a long weekend, so I'll catch up tomorrow at some point.

Booked my train for London today and the Heino final. I guess if Ulster make it, I'll have to sing the SUFTUM song you nicked off the Dragons
Ben Arfa's goal today was a pretty decent one.

You forgot to include the Ps. I mean they have their uses Rav. I hear M&S sea salt and Gouda Cheese crisps are to die for. The Prawn Cocktail not so much. Prawn Sandwiches from M&S is another thing they bring!

I think she's referring to the 'Chris' bit Rava? Proof I can still be sober and in control of facalties this late at night. Stick that in your Dutch pipe and smoke it gibbo!
(Apologies that's probably a tad stereotypical.)
12 pubs is plenty Dave. On my way to you now bro.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
I've never had such a good away trip as I did this weekend. Not just a monumental win but the people, the pubs, the atmosphere- wonderful, warm Munster hospitality and a pretty feicing good rugby match to boot.
Only downside today was meant to go to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren but we ended up just driving home because the weather was atrocious!
I was pretty disappointed that a few eejits saw fit to bring a Union Jack to the game, not sure what the point of that was. But all in all the Ulster fans and Munster fans were mixing and getting on great. I do think if Ulster Rugby followed Munsters example on issuing flags with the club crest a lot of unnecessary nonsense could be avoided. We've so many bugbears about flags; give the fans something non-political and rugby orientated to wave! It'll help everyone get on better and feel more together.

The Munster fans even had fake blood in the Limerick fountains, it's a whole other level of organisation down there. Ulster fans are just as loud and passionate but we don't have anywhere near the same co-ordination.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
Notch, you see that in soccer as well. Cork City and Derry City fans have a kind of odd love affair. It is great and a bit odd and sometimes it goes too far!
Also the best HC weekend I had was either Wasps v Munster in 03 or that game against Leinster in 06. The Wasps game because it was the best HC game ever and the Leinster game for obvious reasons.
I suspect Rav will no longer be getting M&S crisps gratis.

Evening pub
Finally managed to catch up on watching all the HC games I missed this weekend! Big congrats to those who made it through and equally big commiserations to those that didn't
MrsP, glad you all had a lovely holiday, reminds me just how nice it is round there and that I must make a return trip.
TT, I've been to Clonakilty and Courtmacsherry. It was 20+ years ago and I remember it being beautiful. Also remember lots of Murphys and a really cute guy that worked in a fishing trip place in (I'm pretty certain) Courtmacsherry
Made some lemon ice cream this afternoon whilst catching up with the rugby. Whisking loads of double cream is cream crackering
And Happy Birthday Dave!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
Notch not sure if it was after you left but do you remember the local lads in Clohessy's who were waving your Ulster flag and singing suftum?
One of them changed into an Ulster top and they were singing Stand up for the Ulstermen over and over again.
Every Munster fan we spoke to said they wanted Ulster to go on and win and how great it was for Irish rugby that we won.
If all rugby fans were like the Munster fans we met then the world would be a better place .

Wouldn't it be really funny if it was T's Dad, but, of course, you're much too young for that to be true!

TT, I've just worked out it was 1988, I was 19. He was probably my age or a little older. Can still remember his face now so he certainly made an impression The one and only time in my life I've taken an interest in fishing How bizarre would it be if it was him!
MrsP, it is gorgeous isn't it? We spent a week staying near Cork and then moved over to Kerry and spent a week near Dingle Bay. Just a beautiful area

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Georgia
It is. And I don't want to stumble into any more aggro like, cause thats silly.
I'm just worried about two things;
1) Flags that are (rightly or wrongly) associated with political positions might make people feel that they aren't welcome supporting Ulster Rugby. That would be sad; rugby is about bringing people together. We should focus on what unites us (obviously not politics!) Everyone from all over the nine counties of Ulster should support this team, plus anyone else who wants to jump on the bandwagon! We are recruiting all the time.
2) This could potentially aggravate fans of other teams. Even if they are being too sensitive or not, the best part of my trip was the bonhomie and craic with the Munster fans. It had nothing to do with our teams really; just the fact we all loved rugby and pretty much all loved drinking together and talking rugby. Wouldn't want to risk anything endangering that like. Because it's special, and it's great.
Once again, I've opened the pandoras box of controversy. I never learn but then again- I am an incredibly blunt, obnoxious little Poopie
Peace and love

Well MrP proposed to me in Kerry so it's a bit of a special place for us.
We took the kids to a few of the places we had told them about and it was great fun. We even totally shocked them by telling them that we walked across the top of the arches on the bridge at Kenmare. They couldn't believe i would do such a thing!

Notch there are always one or two ghouls who will try and ruin it for the rest of the lads with NI/ROI rubbish . But the craic with the fans is where it's at. To show you how much progress has been made, when Derry City got promoted last season Cork City presented Derry with a crystal bowl in congratulations. Something was exchanged when Cork got promoted this year.
