First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Georgia, because rugbydreamer wants the Scarlets to find a nice forward out there.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of birthday boy Hughie, Chris Budgen, Leo Cullen, Brian O'Driscoll, Paddy Wallace, Tomas O'Leary and a red faced Ronan O'Gara on the wall.

Ale cuppa coffee mug guinness cider RedWine

I know Jones is a good player but does no one else think it an odd move on both sides?

Anyway, here's a question for all in the pub or whoever is passing through, what are your top five sporting events/competitions? Mine are:

5. All Ireland Final- Gaelic Football or Hurling
4. State Of Origin- Rugby League
3. The Lions Tour- Rugby Union
2. The Heineken Cup- Rugby Union
1. The European Championship- Football

Makes sense from a Scarlet pov really. We would only have offered him a 1 more year deal at most.

Munsty - that's an impossible question for me to answer, I follow too many different sports to choose just 5.

Am surprised you've got State of Origin up there though, I watched that last year and thought it was no where near as good as it had been built up to be.

Dreamer,

Certainly possible to do.

Actually I want to add one in, but don't know what to take out. I'd like to add in the Olympics 100 Metres Mens Final.

Im sorry regs, but I just had a crystal-clear image, of a pair of wellies on a Wasp wearing a rugbyshirt. I may need remedial help.

Shoite buzz for Wasps. Hope they sort it out.

aaaargh you are picking individual Olympic events and not just the Olympics themselves? geeeze. I can't pick 5.

I have Heineken, 6N's and the rwc for rugby. I have team pursuit in the track cycling, medly relay in swimming, decathlon and heptathlon in athletics, 800 &1500m races (in worlds and olympics) mens 4 in the rowing, tour de france, wimbledon etc etc.

I just love watching sport Munsty and they are all so different I can't pick just 5.

Unless I could just be more general then I would haev

1.2.3 - Heineken, 6N's, Rwc (can't pick between them)
4-5 Olympics/Wimbledon/tour de France/ EC in football.

Gibbo,

I thought you'd dislike Beach Volleyball. It's just a cynical move from the Americans in 1996 pushed by NBC to get higher TV Ratings when it was introduced.

See, I'd watch Ulster in any competition in preference to a World cup Final between 2 teams in which I have no emotional investment.

I will happily watch as a neutral, but not in preference to "my team", whichever team that might be.

Totally agree mrs P, can't understand why anyone would want to watch chancers like Messi or Ronaldo hoof the ball up the pitch when you can watch the likes of Paddy Wallace play champagne rugby on a Friday night.

How bout a Leinster v Ulster Final?

Then Connacht wins too.

It could so easily be Edinburgh v ASM(most likely). Also be great for the game imo. 2 new Finalists to help spread the rubgy love.

Both these games will be on a knife-edge. No one team left, can be anyway over-confident. These 4 are there for good reason. Man I love the HC.
