The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Beach Leileifiafiafale, Samoa
First topic message reminder :
Talofa*, afio mai** to the Leileifiafiafale*** - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Samoa because Biltongbek fancied cocktails on the beach.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of the recently retired Lloyd Burns and Peter Short; Richardt Strauss and Stephen Jones or the posters for "Stamp Out Racism" featuring Pat Lam and "Justice 4 John Afoa".

Oh, right. Sorry
I didn't see your post though, just the bit in the new pub. Sure it wouldn't be a pub anyway if I didn't put my foot in my mouth

No worries!
I wholeheartedly agree with you on some of the nonsense that has been spouted about it.
And no Rodders, I'm not talking about you!

You mean the hurdlers?
Some are away on warm weather training I think but Phil is around so I suspect they will be there. I could find out if you want?

No, I mean in general. I'm going to turn up anyway. I'm 90% sure the track is meant to be open.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Beach Leileifiafiafale, Samoa
Heard a great story at the track tonight.
Must have been the mid to late 60s (? 1965?) and there was an athletics meet in (?) Antrim on the old cinder track.
Lynn Davies had come over to compete and Mike Bull was there too. They were both measuring their long jump run ups and Davies' run up was longer than the cinder track available. He had placed his marker in the grass past the end of runway when the "jobs worth" track attendant came over shouting that he couldn't put his marker there!
Mike Bull tried to avert the crisis by quietly saying,
"Do you know who that is? It's Lynn Davies!"
The track attendant wasn't impressed.
"I wouldn't care even if he was the Olympic Champion he's not allowed to put his marker there!"
Clearly not a follower of athletics

Seems to go with the territory!
Just think how many more hurdles you will have to put out and away again when it reopens with 8 lanes!

WillyG,
I still don't see how it was a woman's fault that a man can't stay on a ladder?

It's all part of the assessment Hughie. They want to see if you remain calm. Remember the smoking incident.

Just learned a new term…
Astroturfing is an English-language term referring to political, advertising, or public relations campaigns that are formally planned by an organization, but designed to mask its origins to create the impression of being spontaneous, popular "grassroots" behavior. This includes companies or individuals who comment non-transparently on social sites.

Bore da pawb / good morning all. So glad it's Friday!
'Health Secretary Andrew Lansley told The Times the government did not work with tobacco companies as it wanted them to have "no business" in the UK.'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-17698730
That's clearly bullocks. The government would lose a fortune.

Missed it by two days As
I don't make a fuss about it and just had a nice evening with some long standing pals locally. But thanks for the good wishes folks (again)
all round though.
Kiwi - I will never set foot in The Stoop for a Quins v Wasps game again. The Quins fans are the nearest thing you will get to a football type crowd in English rugby. Awful abuse they give us. The last two times we played there I've left at half time because of it.
I'll be at Ealing v Coventry tomorrow, and also trying to avoid hordes of Wembley bound scousers.
