Talofa*, afio mai** to the Leileifiafiafale*** - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Samoa because Biltongbek fancied cocktails on the beach.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of the recently retired Lloyd Burns and Peter Short; Richardt Strauss and Stephen Jones or the posters for "Stamp Out Racism" featuring Pat Lam and "Justice 4 John Afoa".

Bore da Glas. I think the Scarlets will win it today, as long as they're not complacent and can be arsed.
Thankfully Penfro said exactly when my cameo was, so I'm going to look away at that point, but I'm intrigued about that scrum...of course I missed anything picked up from Clancy's mic.

Glas, Scarlets should roll over them. They came to Ravenhill a few days before it became public they were being wound up and they looked totally apathetic.

Kiwireddevil wrote:Evening all, back in after grabbing dinner on the way home from Quins vs Wasps, just sitting down and typing up the match report.
There were a few Wasps fans there in good voice (they must have been inspired by Asbo, Hughie, Ozzie and me the other week - I could hear "Oggie oggie oggie Wasps Wasps Wasps from the other side of the pitch) though Hound was off watching Ealing.
Morning folks.
Glad I did go to watch Ealing, kiwi. 55-33 and 9 tries to 5 in a cracking display from Ealing's backs. 3 more tries for Chesters takes him over the 40 mark for the season. That's two seasons on the bounce that he's beaten Chris Ashton's previous National Leagues record of 39 when Saints were in the Championship
Also, the Wasps' chant is "Allez, allez, allez" (not oggie). Wasps showed ok with ball in hand (I cought the last hour of the game) and threatened with VW back on the wings, but defensively we were shocking. If Shaun Edwards was still at the club there would be a lot of players getting the lash of his dulcet Wigan tones after that display.
Brekky time

It was Ian 'Ianto' Evans. The 'holler' starts whilst the scrum is still intact!

Hi Swanny,
Go easy on yourself. The thought of all the airborne dust still floating around after you've just wiped everything down is a scary thought.
Sad news today with one of our great swimmers, Murray Rose dying this morning from leukemia. He was 73. He won 3 Gold medals at the '56 Olympics at the age of 17 and will always be a legend in Australia.

We had a bizarre orange-red dust storm a few years back. Surreal event it was... like a post nuclear environment!
The stuff went everywhere... and everyone was finding deposits in the most unexpected places weeks and sometimes months afterwards.
It had a strong aroma (you couldn't avoid it) and a mineral taste, a bit tangy and slightly acidic on the tongue.

Evening LB,
I know, it's an old house with a wooden staircase so it goes with the territory. I'm just having a moment.
Could be worse, my bro in law is currently removing the artex on their stairway. Messy! They'll be finding that stuff forever!
Afternoon Notch,
I hadn't thought of it like that but I see what you mean. I'll just have to think of a dusting of snow or icing sugar instead.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Beach Leileifiafiafale, Samoa
I know this tech geek stuff probably means nothing to 99% of the other posters here but anyway...
There's an opcode in the audio synthesis language Supercollider called dust and it sounds like this tiny audio crackling sound. Like something you'd get if your stereo was a little up the left. Totally unremarkable. But I liked the name, even though I know f'all about SuperCollider, so I put it in as a texture in a piece of music once and probably will again.
http://pages.citebite.com/q1f6a8a3m6jri
I like all that kind of stuff. Electronic detritus, signal noise, distortion, interference. I like the word Dust, but I also like Dust as a concept. Something that slowly accumulates over an object and doesn't change it's properties but perhaps slightly changes our perception of it. I like that It also implies something is untouched, allowing this dust to accumulate over time. How many times when you read a book does an author refer to dust when our protagonists are explore something ancient, mysterious, undisturbed for years? It serves as a metaphor for preservation.
That said, it is particularly annoying in the realm of housework as opposed to vaguely inspirational and evocative words.

Afternoon All.
Just switched on the Aironi/Scarlets match. The local support there is huge. Shame they won't be in the league next season. The minute silence for the Italian footballer who died yesterday was impeccably observed as well.

It's 3 - 6 after 20 minutes Notch. Scarlets have had one try opportunity so far, but the player was just nipped into touch.

Aironi scrumhalf petulantly throws the ball at the ref and gets a rollicking. Lucky not to be binned actually, things could well be going Scarlets way for the next few...woah! tip tackle on Aironi player followed by handbags. Both teams getting shirty for some reason. No one binned though.

Aironi given a second yellow card (they had one earlier on). Not what they needed when it's been all Scarlets for the last few minutes approaching HT. Priestland going for the penalty.

Aironi fluff their best chance of a try there - Phil John tackles the player and he loses the ball forward.

Some off-the-ball incident going on which the TV pictures aren't showing something to do with the scrumhalves. They get a row off the ref and stay on.
Shame Aironi didn't make the try, great break from their man.

Cari, there's been some social media campaigning by the Aironi fans to save their team (seems to be in vain...) Possibly some refer to that. I've got the game on now.
Sorry Welshies, but given whats happening to Aironi I can't help but want them to win this for their fans!
Sinoti Sinoti caused us all sorts of problems in Ravenhill when we played last despite his team being shoite. Some team will do well to snap him up.

Aironi get robbed of another scoring opportunity - held up by Schlong. No try.
Thanks Notch. I'd like to see Aironi win just because of what's going on with them at the moment. Besides, Aironi's coach (Roland Phillips) is from Ospreylia

Remember the Tongan prop who scored against the All Blacks in the first game of the World Cup?
He seems to have developed a knack for it; top try scorer in Super Rugby.

Actually, I hadn't really thought that Scarlets are still in it. I suppose they are. In some ways I feel it's probably already over for Ulster even though we're still in the mix and will be on the last day if we beat Leinster. It would be nice to get into the playoffs but it's very much the secondary objective unfortunately. All roads lead to Dublin! (And London)
Aironi scrum is pushing Scarlets around for fun right now. Got to sort it if they want to win this.
