First topic message reminder :

Hamjambo. Karibuni Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to visit pub regular MBTGOG on his big trip there. Maisha marefu! Afya! Vifijo!

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Sir Fred "The Needle" Allen, Aberdeen Shikoyi, Isoa Damudamu, Chris "Mossy" Patterson, Nathan Hines and Simon Danielli. The poor defenseless IRB referee's jersey draped over the dartboard is fair game though Whistle

At least he was trying to get them going Gibbo. Falcons ate just a team of boshers in the main.

Not good enough obviously... Stringer will go back to Munster next season with O'Leary crossing the Irish Sea in the opposite direction. He remains a very handy player.

I like Stringer. Always have. He was great for Sarries in his stint there too. Still one of the fastest and most accurate passers of a ball out there.

Munster need him to tutor Murray.

Just watched a rerun of the Wasps game. Not sure how the TMO could give Stringer's try. No clear evidence he touched te ball against the post.

Falcons 21 must get cited for a late head butt tackle on Robinson. Shocking stuff.

3-6 at the minute. Leinster shouldn't have had the second pen for off their feet before an offence. Pretty good crowd for a nothing game.

This Italian ref is well schooled in the arts of give everything to an Irish province. My pet hate is in evidence here. Leinster throwing not straight lineouts, but the referee ain't watching for them and the touch judge behind the hooker is watching the offside line ( should be watching the not straight as he has the best position).

17-3 to Munster at half-time. We were 10-0 down but we did really well to defend and hold out- then Munster got in just before half-time. Thats just a very bad time to concede a try. For a fifth consecutive game we have been second best in terms of territory and possession, can't get scores without the ball.

It's gutting- Munster have been dominant, but at 10-3 we were in it. 17-3 is going to be really hard.

Need a try early in the 2nd-half. Or at least the platform and a pen or 2.

Yeah, it's a long shot though. We need to get the ball and keep it- get quick ball and score. But Munster have the heavy artillery out up front and we're struggling to match them. It could be a long second half. We should probably throw caution to the wind and try running from deep but unless we start sucking men in we're not going to get very far that way.

We could be in for a hiding if things go badly.

No Paddy McAllister came off injured Sad

Jackson is doing ok- but he threw one terrible pass in the first half Munster intercepted and his kicking isn't earning us territory.

Paul Marshall has done some brilliant things and some lamentable things. I'm very disappointed we've let Ian Porter go.

Woohoo!

Iain Henderson scores a great try for Ulster on his professional debut Smile

Good to see. 24-8. Worryingly, Paul O'Connell is being helped off the pitch. Thats not an injury we want to see with the All Blacks on the horizon. Looks very bad for O'Connell, he's in a lot of pain.

O'Leary and Humphreys on, opponents tonight but teammates for London Irish next year.

Munster safe now in 3rd spot. TBP means nowt, but they will go for it. As you were. O's making hard work of it in Aironi though. Still 11-15.

I don't know about splashing out for a trip to Portugal though. If they wanted to avoid the Heineken Cup hype they could've just gone to Wales Run devil

Hmm. Munster get a slightly dubious TMO decision. 'No reason why they can't award the try'. If Alain Rolland has asked "try, yes or no" that very likely wouldn't have been given.

31-8. On the backfoot the entire game in truth. Munster had too much throughout the team. Next season could be a bit of a reality check; we remain a side with a good first XV and an alarming lack of depth. Good to see guys like Annett, Henderson, Jackson et al. bedding into the team.

Argh, Munster get another try in the last play. Total dominance from the men in red in truth and a fairly poor Ulster display.

Munster 36-8 Ulster. It sort of illustrates that McLaughlin has built a great team when he has several world class players to draw upon but unlike Schmidt at Leinster, he's failed to put the structures in place for Ulster to perform well without their big names in harness. Take out Ferris, Afoa, Muller and Pienaar and we look very much bereft of ideas and leadership. Anscombe is in to address that problem.

It was a very difficult task to win tonight against a very strong Munster team, nobody really expected that of course, but we should have been good enough to avoid a hiding like that.

It will take a year or two Notch. We hadn't the strength-in-depth, to fight on 2 fronts, in the end last year. That has changed this year. Need to keep playing those guys in the PRO12, week-in, week-out.

Good try O Donnell.

So: Leinster v Warriors @ the RDS. Ospreys v Munster @ the Library it is.
Close for Scarlets, but too little too late. Ulster had their eyes and focus on another prize, even before the HC QF.

Congrats to all teams. Specially Glasgow Warriors. Great, consistent season - rewarded. guinness

Iain Henderson anyway did very well, it's another game for Paddy Jackson and then when Leinster come we have players who've had three weeks since the Edinburgh game to rest up. Henderson is the main bright spot from tonight going into next season.

Tommy O'Donnell I thought was excellent for Munster- what I wouldn't give for their conveyor belt of backrow talent!

They do breed em down there all right. Backrowers I mean.

PRO12 SF's next weekend for us. It never stops. Be interesting to see who plays. Need to win and conserve personel at the same time. Tricky one and helps Ulster. Although 3 weeks without a game for your top guys, may leave ye cold for the Final. (Psyche)

But, Schmidt is a Master at it. Id expect Madigan to start and Sexton to play some part. BOD and Thorn too.

Very disappointing dive from Zebo which lead to the Yellow for Trimble.

Hope he is proud of himself.

The worst of it was in the second half there was a much more significant off the ball contact but Spence kept his feet and there wasn't even a penalty never mind a card.

Is that really what we want?

Should have said that i hope iHumph is okay too. Not sure he knew which ground he was playing in when he went off. Or was he saying,

"What happened? Did I tackle someone? Always knew that tackling lark was a bad idea!"

Hope he's okay.

I started watching Carl Sagan's COSMOS last nght. Again. 7 DVD collection. This Masterpiece has never been surpassed. In over 30 years. Even with all that has happened since. He could see for eons.

True genius who could take you with him, explain it all and make you think and wonder at the sheer beauty and enormity of it all.

Every man, woman and child should have this series in their collection.

It was certainly Helter skelter Rodders.

Trimble was yellow carded for a blatent Zebo dive in the first half. Managed to defend very solidly during that period but we ahd very little possession the whole game.

Jackson and Marshall thew an intercept pass each. Diack was excellent. Henderson showed up well and scored a try.

Spence was an animal in defence and Trimble wasn't far behind him.

McIlroy came on and did okay.

I'm not even sure who ended up playing where. iHumph came on for Trimbs and Gilroy came on for Darcy. iHumph got knocked flat near the end and we had no one left to bring on so we played the last ? 5 mins with 14, one of which was Chris Cochrane who could hardly put his foot to the ground!

Munster were well worth their win.

It really should have been more Rodders. Munster were far from clinical.

POC unfortunately went off with a fairly nasty looking twist to his knee from a ruck.

Looked quite bad.

I am not too concerned about the result to be honest. We had no intention of doing anything tonight but give our youngsters some game time.

Paddy Mac went off injured too at an early stage.

We gave our youngsters some game time this season. In fact - the whole season long. And they walked the League...

Your twist Maam. Lemon with that? Cool

And there is absolutely no doubt that your youngsters are miles ahead of our Gibbo.

Miles!

But, we have to bring ours on as best we can.

2 weeks eh?

This time last week we were nearly home from Lansdowne after an absolutely mad but very exciting and satisfying day!
