First topic message reminder :

Hamjambo. Karibuni Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to visit pub regular MBTGOG on his big trip there. Maisha marefu! Afya! Vifijo!

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Sir Fred "The Needle" Allen, Aberdeen Shikoyi, Isoa Damudamu, Chris "Mossy" Patterson, Nathan Hines and Simon Danielli. The poor defenseless IRB referee's jersey draped over the dartboard is fair game though Whistle

2 weeks eh?

This time last week we were nearly home from Lansdowne after an absolutely mad but very exciting and satisfying day!

Ah I know pal. Just winding. No need to. Ulster are building towards the very same thing. It takes time. Some great kids out there. kiss
Two weeks yeah. Man... I need to take my mind off it. Until the PRO12 SF next weekend.

Gibbo,

Leinster B were better tonight. All I moaned about was the touch judge positioning as there was skewed throws from you. I said in my Facebook status though that Dragons were w**k.

4/4 record for Leinster watching them live. Can't knock those stats you chino wearing buzzards x

Morning all.

A nice afternoon out with Asbo and the Mini-Asbos, just a shame the Chiefs couldn't capitalise on scrum dominance or cope when Sarries stepped it up in the 2nd half. It looked like a few players were already in holiday mode Sad
But any day where Budgie scores ... Yahoo

My run of latish nights caught up though, and I dozed off on the couch watching Scarlets vs Blues later on ...

It was a run from the half-way line, took Settle on the outside, bounced Owen Farrell over the Rous stand, two hip-swerves (similar to an earthquake sensation), and a belly-flop over the line - ligind Chief

Lads, if there's contact it's not a dive. Trimble knew what he was doing. He checked Zebo's momentum. Did Zebo make a bit much of it? Yeah but Trimble still deserved to go.

It's simulation Willy, Young clips himself. Trimble makes contact, Zebo made a lot of it but it was a penalty. Taking it into context it wasn't a yellow but Trimble was always going to go. It's similar to the Earls scenario. A slight nudge can knock you off. Trimble didn't seem to protest so he knew what he was doing.

I agree actually... Johne Murphy did the exact same thing on about 70min though, on Humphreys I think, but got away with it.

Off to Belfast...anyone know if the Kukri store at Ravenhill is open today?

No willy, game is not up on rte player but might be up on the iplayer. Johne Murphy was lucky to get away with it. I know it was the second string Ulster side but the way they defended a maul was deplorable. Henderson looks like a faster but not as strong version of Ferris. He did run over Jones though, Zebo was unlucky not to stop him.

I think Munster have had terrible luck with injuries this year. They have been without the likes of Howlett, Leamy, Wallace, POC, Ronan, Earls, Fla, and I think I'm forgetting a few. Amazing when you think about it.

Wally, Quinny, the Bull, Flannery and there's a good chance Leamy follows. I suppose it helps bring the young guys through so it will be interesting.

A few thoughts on last nights game.e

- I still can't understand how little Dineen plays for us. I think he is a very good centre

- We could do with a top quality non Irish #6 in the mould of Rocky Elsom

- Conor Murray learnt a lot from the last Ulster match

- Felix Jones is not playing anywhere near as well as his admirers suggest

- Deasy could very easily leapfrog Keatley

Agree with a lot of that Stag. Murray was still slow enough at getting to the breakdown and he still takes that feicing step. Jones has missed some big tackles this year. Last night he was at fault for the try. Zebo did well to get to him but didn't do enough. I didn't realise Deasy was only 23, he could develop into a solid player for Munster.

Its not just big tackles he misses Thomond. He kicked a ball out on the full and just seems to lack the kind of intelligence you need.

IMO he is being picked for his form a year ago. Denis Hurley did far more in far tougher games than Jones has done so far.

You're right, he is relying on reputation, Hurley or even Scanlon deserve to be in ahead of him. Also I think we saw in the first half that Munster can be involved in effective back play when their outhalf is flat like Deasy is. It might have been a second string Ulster side but still.

Munster team of the season IMO

DuPreez, Sherry, Botha
Ryan, O'Connell
O'Mahony, Coughlan, Ronan
Murray, O'Gara
Mafi, Earls
Zebo, Hurley, Howlett

Henderson and also Birch look good BTW

Indeed, I have been there before though. Some head coaches are all talk but I don't get that feeling with Penney. Not like this man, great guy, just a bit too pally with the players.

Spoiler:

Howlett played about 5 games this season, I don't know if I would put him in the team of the year. LOD , Johne Murphy or Hurley brought more to the table there. Is that a team for next year though?

Thomond, I thought he had some vital performances in the ERC. I would say our starting team next year is something like:

duPreez, Sherry, Botha
Ryan, O'Connell
O'Mahony, Coughlan, Ronan
Murray, O'Gara
Downey, Laulala
Zebo, Hurley, Earls

Varley, Kilcoyne, Archer, O'Callaghan, O'Donnell, Stringer, Deasy, Howlett

I think a top backrow is needed. You can't lose Leamy, Wallace and Quinlan in one year and simply hope the youngsters can do it all.

I would not have Earls ahead of Dougie. Howlett is one of the most complete wingers in history. Earls has to earn his spot in the team. Could end up at full back though

Im only second guessing Thomond. Howlett will be I think 35 then and back from a long injury. It will take something special to win back his place.

I was impressed by Deasy and Dineen last night. I agree with Stag about Jones. Looked a bit of a headless chicken at times.
Also Mike Sherry should go to NZ in the summer.

Deasy kicked very well and occasionally made poor decisions with the ball in hand- contradicts what I thought about him. He had a good game.

Dineen is such a good reader of a game. Twice now against Ulster he's made perfect defensive reads, got in amongst our defensive line and nabbed an intercept. He has great judgement already. Give him more gametime, he's actually much better than Danny Barnes.

Nevin Spence continues to frustrate me- he made some great defensive reads and tackles but just seems to want to power through contact every time. He's easy to defend against and will be until he introduces more variety into his game. He remains a bit of a curates egg.

Its hard to see Earls remaining as our option at 13. Laulala is a proven talent there and we have got Dineen and Barnes developing there.

A great deal of it will hinge on Howlett but as Thomond says maybe he will return to the 15 shirt for Munster.
