The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Dar es Salaam
First topic message reminder :
Hamjambo. Karibuni Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has ventured to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to visit pub regular MBTGOG on his big trip there. Maisha marefu! Afya! Vifijo!
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Sir Fred "The Needle" Allen, Aberdeen Shikoyi, Isoa Damudamu, Chris "Mossy" Patterson, Nathan Hines and Simon Danielli. The poor defenseless IRB referee's jersey draped over the dartboard is fair game though

Geoff reckons it will be a Ravens type side at CoD RFC..... but that would be awesome imo....if it comes off.
Afoa and Payne were here last week doing coaching too, which is great to see.

Morning all.
We're up over 950 posts again, get your nominations for a new venue and pics
This pub has lasted 8 days, so I think we can sneak another venue in before HEC weekend. Unless we have a "Triple Crown" final pub first, and a "Orange Tree" after?

It's in August Prop.
It would be negligent of me to suggest you spend any of your holiday in Tallaght though.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Dar es Salaam
prop, my son played again yesterday, this time his opponent wasn't that much bigger, but in the first scrum the guy went totally sideways, the whole scrum lost it's bind and collapsed with my son on the bottom.
He got a knock to his head, so they took him off for a while and put the reserve on, man this guys was like putting putty onto a window frame, then eventually my son went on after some straight talking from me, explaining to him, I don't care where the other prop goes, he just keeps his bind and scrum straight.
Once again he scrummed the toffee out of the kid.
After the match the coach made special mention of how well these boys scrum.
They won their first league game yesterday after the friendlies were done with on the weekend. so all is looking rather good for the season ahead.

Begin to gather in London Friday lunchtime - looking at pub lunch in South End Green as poor weather option, possible Hoog bbq if weather ok
5pm-ish, travel from Hamptead Heath to Richmond on overground and on to Twickenham to meet with PcPete
8pm Amlin Challenge Cup final - Biarritz Olympique vs RC Toulon - more drinks afterwards nearby the Stoop or in Richmond
Saturday lunchtime, 12.30pm onwards, congregate at the Triple Crown in Richmond - maps and directions here: The Triple Crown
3pm onwards head off to Twickenham for Heineken Cup final - Leinster vs Ulster (3pm earlier depature for those heading to fanzone, later departure for rest) - should be a bus from the Richmond Athletic Ground (home of London Scottish) directly opposite the TC, else train from Richmond to Twickenham
Drinks post match back in Richmond at the Orange Tree (if taken over by footie fans, head to the Sun directly behind the OT) - maps and directions here: Orange Tree
Give myself, Hoog or Dave a shout if there's anything there that doesn't make sense or you're not clear about

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Dar es Salaam
Ulster Rugby today confirmed that Simon Danielli has decided to retire from rugby due to a back injury which has plagued the winger throughout this last season.
http://www.ulsterrugby.com/news/10528.php
“I feel privileged to have been playing for over a decade and have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a professional rugby player, particularly my last five years here at Ulster.
“I would like to thank everyone who has helped me throughout my time here, to all the players, coaches, other members of staff and not least the fantastic supporters at Ulster that rival anywhere else in Europe, creating an atmosphere that has given me many special lifelong memories.
“I wish the boys the very best of luck for the biggest of games next week and long into the future, the club is well on the path to becoming a leading force in European rugby and I will be in the stands cheering them towards this for years to come.”
Thanks Simon!

This was my favourite try from Simon Danielli in his Ulster years;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1juI8sve_U
Class kick, class finish from Danielli
And Ulster still found a way to lose the game

Apparantly he's being targetted by them.
It makes sense, he's worked there as an assistant before. And with Anscombe off to Ulster there's no-one in NZ ready for promotion. And he's got the HEC tick on his cv, if he can win an SXV he'll walk into the ABs job.
How's that for supporting documentation?
PS, there was an article in the NZ Herald a week or 2 back on prospects talking about why Cotter and Schmidt would be tough to persuade home. A couple of readers' comments about "coming to the real deal from minor league NH teams" made me smile
So for the next pub we had Namibia nominated, we have Danielli for the wall, anyone else?

Sounds like something my old man would do!! Now I normally have to be dragged off the pitch if injured....sure Penfro can vouch
One thing he always said to em was: if the scrum goes down, make sure you stand up before the opposite prop as it can sometimes show the ref who's at fault. Also, if they want to take it down, let them but get a dig in on the way down!!
