The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Béal Feirste
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made it's way to Belfast - the rope-making and ship building capital of the world.
Now the Mouth of the Shoal awaits the safe arrival of one of it's long lost daughter's - Cariadwr - in her ongoing quest to be as close as possible to one of her favourite players... Tomás Ó Buaigh of Emyvale.... on her Birthday
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Nial O'Connor, Cari & Tommy Bowe, "Pickles" the wonder dog of '66, Wikus van de Merwe and Black Caviar above the bar.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Béal Feirste
What happened Notch. I'm not feeling so great either. My brief review of the game yesterday. Los Campeones des Europa 2012!
Anyway, I'm going to start this off with somewhat of a controversial statement, I never find Spain broing to watch. The way they keep the ball, their movement, intricate passing and accuracy is a joy to watch. Have they been as entertaining for the whole tournament? No, they haven't, credit to Italy unlike other teams, they set out to try and take the game to them rather than try and shut down the midfielders like France and indeed Portugal tried to. I think they are a great team to watch, their patience and passing are captivating, they produced some spell binding play in all their matches and should have beaten Portugal in extra time.
I understand why people find them boring but I think it's almost as bad to see teams try and shut the opposition down rather than go for it themselves. I see Ireland do it in rugby and it annoys the shoite out of me. Anywaa great game, Italy were deserved finalists and raised it to a level that most won't get near. With thier continued good perforamnces in underage championships, thie juggernaut could be at the very least competitve at the top table for a long time.

Afternoon folks.
Kiwi –it looks like we are in for rain for the rest of the week. That’s a shame because I’m due at the Ealing Beer fest on Friday afternoon.
Did anyone see the story about the stag party that had to be rescued from Snowdon? They were only wearing trainers and ‘nightwear’ and it was wazzing down!!!

He was 83 or so, which maybe raises the question about retesting for drivers of a certain age. I can't imagine why he did it other than the money thing, though there's card payments now and it's always been pretty common knowledge (or so I thought) that they let you do a proper turn and go back for money back over the bridge.

Ah right, missed that. I suppose it's good he didn't hurt anyone bar himself. That may sound harsh but I hope people see where I'm coming from.
Bad news on a personal note, my Uncle and his family have to move out of their house for 3 months due to damage from the floods. They live in an area that wasn't too badly damaged too!
Hound, those fellas are Grade A tools, wasting the emergency services time!

I was on a stag there in the Mournes a few weeks back, went out for a dander but I turned back when the mist came in. Some of the others carried on, up the mountain and into the mist in trainers and t-shirts
Got to say I thought they were a bit foolhardy but it was grand in the end anyway.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Béal Feirste
Thomond, that's what annoyed me though the knock-out stages of the tournament - not how Spain approached the game, but how their opponents did. There's something shameful about seeing national sides going out looking to stop the opposition, rather than taking the game to them. It might make perfect sense tactically, but it's not nice to see teams - nations, in effect - admitting before kick-off that they're not as good as the opposition. If France had had a proper crack at Spain in the quarter finals, who knows, they might have given them a game; but by looking to contain them, they lessened their chances of winning. At least Italy didn't die wondering.

I actually think France would have caused them some problems, but they just let Spain come at them. England adopted a similar approach for most of the tournament.

I have seen teams do it heck Ireland try and do it to an extent. Most diappointing player of the tournament has been Ibrahimovic for me only showed up when they were out.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Béal Feirste
There's a distinction though. England generally were set up quite defensively and tried to play on the break; but France had been quite an attacking side and they just forsook that based on who they were playing. They didn't back themselves.
Now you don't see 'forsook' that often these days, do you?

France weren't oo attackign at the same time but I see where you are coming from. I suppose you see it with the Irish rugby team, but I don't like the whole "batten down the hatches" mentality.

On the other hand, if France or Portugal had beaten them by stopping them playing, then it would have been worth it, I suppose. I'd just prefer to see the whole 'attack is the best form of defence' approach.

I really enjoyed it, it was much better for the viewer / spectator than the World Cup, I thought. I loved watching Poland in their games, they left nothing in reserve.

They gave it their all but lacked a bit of class. Euros are always better than the WC far less poor teams. Although it's going up to 24 sides for 2016 so it won't be as good.

I have done it before, turned out alright but could have been a bit smokier. I should have put a bbq rub on the meat before hand though.

Any of the Welsh regs know anything about this lad?

Apparantly we have signed him into the academy. Sounds from the report as if he is a player of some promise.

I just found a supplier of nickel-free belt buckles!!!
Now I'll be able to wear jeans with a belt without having to tuck in a t-shirt or summat! Hurrah!! I appreciate that this is not earth-shattering news for the world at large but for me it's fantastic
And I love the name of the shop... itchybellybeltco

I can never find nice belts to fit me. There's always too much of the belt leftover, even when I put it through those loop things and it ends up just annoying me!
Good work on that find though Swanny
Ozzy - the name doesn't mean anything to me, but if he's been playing well and Llandovery College, he's pretty much guaranteed to be a v good player
and could someone with more powers than me please send the rain away. I've no work until Weds and I want to finish digging up the dead hedge (a victim of that harsh winter a year or so back) in the garden (it's strangely thereputic!) but it's too blydi wet outside

ha that it is what I'm complaining about Thomond!
I guess one good thing about the rain is that I can watch the tennis all day. Can't say how happy I am Sharapova is out, can't stand having to watch her play I have to mute the tv every time, added to that, she's v limited in her shot selection (although admittedly v good at the shots she can do).

Yep, I have the same problem but this place will make them to any size you want! And they're not stupidly expensive either unlike the, admittedly very nice, Italian ones I found at £125.00!

£125 for a belt
I wouldn't even spend that on shoes.... (although I would be tempted!)
Nice that that place makes them to size though
Thom - yeah I like Del Pot, even more so when he grows his ginger beard. He's been moving through this tournament really quietly too, no one really talking about him, reckon he could be a big danger. Tsonga's still jumping about the place too. OOoo I do so love tennis. Wish the women's game was as exciting as the men's though.

He's still second in the GC, Hound. Didn't have to do too much today as all the main contenders finished in a big group, twas just nice to see Cav get the stage win when so many were doubting him after he changed teams

Cav shed about 8lb for the tour. That will affect his raw power, but may give him the stamina to be in contention for more stage wins.
It would be great for Cav and Wiggins to get the 'green' and 'yellow'.

Yeah he's lost the weight in prep for the Olympics. I reckon he'll be chuffed with a couple of stage wins, but think his main focus is the Olympics. He was absolutely devastated (understatement!) not to get a medal in '08.

Mind you, aren't all those songs the same anyway. Nothing new, all just 4 chord tunes.
