Olympics Day 13
First topic message reminder :
Day 13 of the Games. Chances for gold today include Kerri Anne Payne in the 10k open water swim, Charlotte Dujardin in the individual dressage, Nicola Adams in the boxing and the men's 470 in the sailing. Really looking to put extra distance between us and the Russians today. But, in a digression from what I normally do, but I'm sure you will excuse me this once.............
COME ON KATIE TAYLOR! YOU'RE INDESTRUCTIBLE!

There's showing off a bit and then there is the excessive posturing and pouting from Bolt. Fantastic runner, great to watch but slowing down in an Olympic Final is disrespectful how ever you spin it

In a semi it actually makes sense though, as you have another race to run.

Is he slowing down though? He could have just been wrecked like, he eased up but still a lot of guys do that in finals it's not Bolt alone.
It's like a boxer who has a narrow lead in the final round avoiding going into a serious brawl.

According to Michael Johnson, he could have seriously injured himself actually.

He slowed down at Beijing when he broke the world record in the 100m, it's Bolt's trademark, you can't be surprised by it now.

Well if MJ says so fair enough. Well some to Bokt. But I disagree that Athletics needs a character like that. He is a superstar and an inspiration anyway without encouraging kids to be arrogant

If I was Spearman, I would be asking for the judges to look at Weirs run, he was so close to the line on the bend.

thomond he did slow down(i am not gonna judge that good or bad- it is what it is)- he looked around to see if he could- he knew he wasnt at world record pace and he slowed down. And he did that because he is that sort of cocky dude, not because he was knackered
I honestly cant think of another sprinter ever that slows/slowed down in 100m and 200m finals. Bolt can afford to do it- because he is just on another level- If you do know of any then please let me know- i am not a massive expert!

He could have beat the OR with ease, it's annoying, he thinks more of himself than the sport.

Michael Johnson was a bit of a showman too, I think I recall him taking it handy in a few finals, or have seen a few on video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFxH9G1C9ks&feature=related I think he can go up a notch here but that might be just me.

Re: Olympics Day 13
That was a world record- he was miles ahead, and didnt slow down - i think he looked at the time just before the line which would have slowed him down abit. But it was 400m which isnt a full on sprint either- if you go out to fast you will naturally tire at the end. I think one day sprinters will be able to sprint for 400m but at present it isnt possible.

No worries, we've pulled it back to 9-2 and the Brit fans are singing 'we're gonna win 10-9'!

He looked like he had more in the tank but yeah no shoite Sherlock the 400m isn't a full on sprint. It's only in marathon or long distance do you see people easing up sprinting doesn't tend to create huge margins but they do ease up at times as do competitors in other sports when they have a margin. It's not uncommon.

you what- i mentioned sprinters at 100m and 200 meters- you countered with a 400m- that is totally irrelvant. 100m and 200m are full on sprints, 400 isnt, therefore if you remeber runners at the 400m grade pulling up it may be because they went out to fast- no high class athlete will ever pull up from being tired in the 200m on the world satge unless they have serious fitness issues. Anyway that race was full on until the look on the line for the time- clearly he wanted to know if he had a great time- it was nothing like what bolt does!

That is what i asked- i didnt ask for a 400 metre race- it is clearly irrelvant due to it not being a full on sprint. so dont get funny because you countered incorrectly..

Blake eased up slightly in this, nobody does it like bolt as well nobody generates as big a gap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvg0XuhGqqQ
Apologies for the smart-assery that was unnecessary.

Come on Jade Jones!
She can take this now, the Chinese woman looks knackered. As long as she doesn't concede a head shot she should be alright.

Q: Who would win in a fight - Nicola Adams or Jade Jones?
Actually, shall we bring in another of today's gold medal winners - Valegro would probably beat both of them, using the ancient horsey martial art of dressage.

Beach volleyball is not a real sport, especially whilst you can have 2 teams from the same country in the final.

Re: Olympics Day 13
Started slowly but was a bit of a nail-biter towards the end.
Jade was very aware of her opponent's ability to score head kicks, and stopped her from doing that. Picked her off with the odd point here and there.
A lot of penalties against both competitors kept it close.
A pity about Martin Stamper earlier, let's see what the rest of the team can do tomorrow.

I enjoy it Fish, it's fast, tough and requires a high level of fitness. Cna understand why some don't like it, as for the countries thing, could happen in table tennis (double, possibly singles), regular tennis I'm pretty sure and badminton as far as I know. Should those be cut too?

Fair enough, but why was cycling taken down to only one per team?
