The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Mendoza
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Mendoza - the city at the foothills of the Andes and one of the venues for the inaugural Rugby Championship.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Rory McIlroy, Sam Cane, Juan José Imhoff, Eben Etzebeth, Jake Schatz and Rob McCusker.

Pete, the only semi-palatable top-shelf medicine in the world is The Macallan, and they nicked the idea of maturing in Sherry barrels from the righteous ones. If nothing else, the triple distilling removes the taste of peat from the equation, and I haven't relished the idea of a drink made with dirt since I was 3 years old.

Don't know how much this is based in fact, PJ, but in South America - well, Argentina - they don't say that they speak Espanol (don't know how to do the til on the n - sorry) they speak Castellano (ie Castilian) and believe that their form of Spanish is a 'purer' form. Quien sabe?

PJ, remember you are talking to a 2nd-div Scots colonialist. They have NO idea about whiskEy. Just sayin.
The only thing that stopped Irish WhiskEy dominating the High-end, was the British Empire. That's gone now. Time to re-take our rightful place on the World Stage. No 1. Its happening now.

Indeed, Cari, when I went down to Puerto Madryn, our tour guide was a young lad who spoke Castellano (obviously), English and Welsh. He told us of how he went to Wales on a sort of heritage pilgrimage and was feted and toured about by the folk because he spoke Welsh. Don't know, does Welsh change with the generations or are there thought police trying to keep it 'pure' like the Academie Francaise in france fighting against the tide with 'le weekend' and 'le picnic'.

Ermm. Appreciation of a great, peat smoked malt is given only to those who have achieved a higher state of sophistication. If you are fortunate, you might find enlightenment. Keep working at it, lads.

I haven't seen the score, but if Argentina have beaten SA, that gives them a massive boost. Plus a big boost to the competition.
Sorry biltong, but that is a neutral view. World rugby has advanced.
Well done SANZAR for giving the Pumas the opportunity to finally compete at this level.

NZ are 'net exporters' though, given the number of players opting to play for Samoa who were born in NZ.

Funny eh Rav bud? We supported Leeds in the days of glory. And took the hate. Man how they hated Leeds fans. I was in a primary schoolroom of 30. 29 Manure fans... And me. I think it formed me actually.
Swansea FC are SUPERB! Its no wonder Welsh rugby teams have no decent following.

But Rav, they play stunning football and their fans will expect and enjoy that. If they come half-way in the PL, then that's cool. Its not all about winning silver. Ulster know that well.

See pal, yet "experts" like Lawrenson thought Swansea were certain to drop. Can't see it. No matter what manager (Martinez, Rodgers etc), keep the same philosophy.
I did want to reply to a few more people, but forget now. Played again today in my friendly. Won 21-10 in the memorial game. Great win against Whiteheads who I think are in the Sarries league. I have a broken beak though. Base luckily. Great memorial night after it. Steve would be proud.
Watching the Father Ted back, best comedy programme shown on C4 ever. Great documentary.

That's Risca 2's again. Beaten two teams in Sarries league (St Jo's too), so speak to me for tips Penfro and Prop. You're a proper league side, so should look to do them both. We had our 2's all out today And no firsts.
I was pack leader and vice captain too. Buzzing.
