Re: Big Premier League Signings III
did I say that? No
I said he's turned the corner and is getting back to somewhere where he was before. Yes, he's lost that electric five yard pace but being golden boot winner and scoring 2 goals in 3 games is evidence of this turnaround. What if it was a tap in, it's still a goal and breeds confidence. It doesnt matter if it's a 30 yarder or a tap in, a goal is a goal and for a striker that's important as it eases pressure and the belief comes rushing back that your getting into the right positions.
As for Spurs, what's the likely formation going to be used. Can you see them persevering with the one up front. Adebayor/Damiao are there but are very similar target men, whereas defoe offers the pace.

is moutinho deal still alive and where does VDV fit into this system?

Re: Big Premier League Signings III
While yes he won the Golden Boot and has scored twice for Chelsea so far he is still a long way from were he was. Even when he was not scoring for us (very rare), he was still a threat with the ball at his feet and was fearless.
He could take on players inside the box or beat them for pace with a great run, since he left he has not shown many glimpses of this or plays with that old swagger. From August 2010-January 2011 he scored 9 league goals for us, while supposedly not being happy and moping around on the pitch. The minute he signed for Chelsea he could do no right, there is deffo a mental problem with Fernando.
I think playing against us in his first game for Chelsea did not help matters either.

We do know now why Sahin hasnt accepted yet the loan deal to Arsenal. His agent met yesterday Anfield owners. He wants all info on table
So it's a straight out duel between Liverpool and Arsenal

I wouldn't be so sure. Liverpool's new style of play might attract him, plus he would get guaranteed first team football there.

I don't really see what everyone sees in M'Vila, he's decent but he's never stood out for me and the time I actually saw him live he was horrendous, as for Sahin, I'd imagine he's been told he's more likely to play most games for Liverpool where as at Arsenal he'd be rotated more often IMO

If Sahin's going to Liverpool its because Arsenal weren't that desperate for him.
If they really wanted him he'd have gone there.

Mathieu Debuchy to Newcastle may be back on after Lille admit they will be forced to sell if the club fails to overturn a 1-0 deficit to Copenhagen in the Champions League qualifier.
I can't see Arsenal going for Jesus Navas, unless Walcott is being shipped out immediately. Maybe, Wenger has finally realised that Walcott isn't good enough!

Re: Big Premier League Signings III
Its well documented that Jesus Navas suffers terribly with home sickness. Hence why has he has always stayed at Seville
From Wiki
"He suffers from chronic homesickness, to the extent he walked out of training camps within Spain because they were too far away from Seville. He also suffers from anxiety attacks and seizures. Navas initially refused to travel with Sevilla during pre-season to the United States due to his acute homesickness, later deciding that he would travel in a bid to rid himself of this condition.
If he can't handle a simple training camp, he will surely not be able to move to a completely different conutry!
Well if he does, would he be able to cope? It would be a huge gamble!

Carroll is not that bad, was very good in the FA Cup final. The main poor signing by Liverpool was, thus far, Downing. No one will buy him though.Bathite wrote:Arsenal sign Jesus, Chelsea sign Moses and Liverpool can't shift their donkey!

Makings of a good side there and that's coming from a NUFC fan. They've then got Larsson & Colback as backup.

There's allot going forward there and Fletcher has scores goals the in the PL, still not worth the fee but at 25 he could be a great buy for Sunderland. Mclean was outstanding last season, amazed he barely played at Euro's and with Johnson they have one of the most promising England internationals in recent times. Add to that the undoubted talent of Sessegon and the solid cm's of Gardner and Cattermole and Sunderland could be challenging for 7th/8th if you ask me.

Re: Big Premier League Signings III
It seems that Man City and some mid table teams get ripped off big time. £9m for Moses seems fair, but if he was going to Sunderland, Villa etc, the price would have been higher. I mean West Ham paying £11m for Fletcher. Compare that to Podolski and Giroud.
Having said that Blackburn have mugged many teams before and of course Liverpool paying £35m for Carroll and £20m for Mr No-Asists.

I remember at Birmingham, Gold and Sullivan rarely splashed that much cash.

Firstly there getting Jarvis not Fletcher.
Getting money from being promoted, it's not called the £90m playoff game for nothing.

Re: Big Premier League Signings III
I would say he's worth about £8m max but it's another example of the ridiculous british player market. He is a good player with plenty of assists and his stats last season were impressive. I still think that Andy Carroll would be Big Sam's last piece to the puzzle that could feed off Jarvis' delivery.
Still can't understand the Moses deal..........Doesn't make sense for him to join Chelsea and sit on the bench. The occassional cameo role and League Cup game is a shame for a player who was on the upward curve of his career.

To be fair Jarvis is a good winger, has pace, a very good cross, scores the odd goal, and has two good feet so can cut in and go outside. But he is worth £8m tops

Michael Dawson will have been signed by QPR.
Michael Owen will have been signed.
Scott Sinclair will have been signed by Manchester City.
Arsenal will sign at least one other person.
Clint Dempsey will leave Fulham, but not to Liverpool.

Yes to all of the above, Owen I expect to go to Everton, Arsenal to push for M'Vila.
Moutinho to Spurs as well as Willian. Although AVB has denied it I can see them still pushing for Damiao as well.
Man City and Chelsea to push for Jovetic and Cavani.
Newcastle to tie up the deal on Debuchy.
Man Utd to still try and bring in a DM/CM (Strootman) even though Fergie has denied it.
