First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to the Moon, in honour of the late Neil Armstrong. One small step for man ...
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Lance Armstrong in yellow, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin moonwalking, or the shot of Joe Ansbro breaking the line.

And so many gay men are like this - not 6'6" and 18 stone, but as straight 'acting' as anyone. The problem is that the only gay people you see on TV are the mincers, so people assume that all gay men must be like that.
Oh, and afternoon, Dreamer!

One of my best friends from uni is gay, but he can't stand "camp" gay men at all, which was a bit of a problem in Aber as nearly everyone that was gay there was completely OTT about it, which he hated.

Ah well, cheers Hugbert. See I pretend to be this Strong As Steel character too, but I can't cover up who I really am.
Decided to play on Saturday. My face is ok now, so should heal in the 6 days between then and next Friday. If I moisturised it etc, it would help too.

Rev, is it fair to say excellent pack, poorish backs. Given the choice though I'd rather it that way than the other.

That's a decent side, Rev, considering the players out injured. I really hope Tuilagi's performance against London Irish was an indicator of how he's going to play this season because he'll be a real plus for us then.

Possibly. A lot of unknowns/unprovens in both. I'm surprised to see Dan Way at 3. I expect us to struggle at scrum time against Zebre, even with some of their front liners out. If we have a solid enough performance from the front 3, I'm confident in the back 5 (like the way our locks have formed a seemingly decent partnership) and I think players like Prydie, Harries and Evans can do some damage given decent ball. All depends on our 10-12-13 axis too. Leach isn't a 13, Steffan can be hot and cold and the jury is still well out on Teflon Tuilagi.

I agree with that. I didn't want to use the Teflon tag, but his previous sins can't be forgiven just yet
Him having a full pre-season has certainly made him fitter too

If this match was in Parma I'd back the Italians to claim a fantastic debut win against you.
But I reckon that you'll dispatch of them fairly well in the end.

One swallow doesn't make a summer and all that, but if we start to see what we expected to see from him last season, that's a useful weapon to have. The Irish game was the first time I've seen him take the ball into contact like he really meant it.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sea of Tranquility, Luna
I would be far more nervous if it was in Parma and I don't expect that good a win tomorrow, so I'd maybe (as a realist) agree with a defeat in Parma tomorrow (later on in the season I may think different).
Interesting for you Irish supporters, is we seem to be writing off the three trips to Limerick, Dublin and Belfast. I can see the sense in writing the Leinster game off, with the Blouse game the following week, but the rest is a bit much. Seems our priority is making RP a fortress again, but I'd also like to try for LBP's on the road too. That said our record in Ireland is gash, so maybe playing a few fringe players won't hurt.

This is probably the first time these Dragons will have got to play in Thomond Park since its redevelopment Rev I'd say.

Rev - you're saying a lot of what Lewis Evans is (hoping to get that interview up tonight)
Plus didn't you guys trouble Ulster last season at Ravenhill? Can't see that one being too much of a daunting trip for you guys.

You picked the right day to show your anti-Ulster colours No Rodders, Rory_Gallagher, MrsP, Notch, Willygilly or Rava around to give out to you.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sea of Tranquility, Luna
Yeah. I wish I had known it was there and I'd have gone. Seeing as the festival I mentioned isn't too great for me, it doesn't really blow my frock up that I've made that decision. Still, at least it's a weekend in the wife's company.
Dreamer, our record in Belfast is certainly better than the other three (four with Musgrave) grounds. Maybe I have Ulster wrong, but I'm sure they were mentioned by the Argus too.

anti-Ulster?
How dare you, have I not just put up an article directed at Ulster positives?

Yea its a pity. You'd have been royally entertained. Still though I've no doubt with you away so much it'll be nice spend a weekend with the missus.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sea of Tranquility, Luna
I know we lost to a late drop goal at Ravenhill either last season or the season before, Dreamer.
It's a cliche, but if we can shore up our defence, that's half the battle. Tom Prydie looks a cool-headed goalkicker and Steffan Jones, inconsistent as he is, has a spark about him and could flourish without the responsibility of kicking at goal. But if we concede soft tries we're always going to struggle.

considering the standards in the Welsh media these days, that's really not a bad article.
Lucky - yeah I think that's the game I'm thinking about, twas v v close whenever it was.
And I really like Prydie. Hope he has a cracking season with you guys.

Ditto on Prydie.
Have to say from a Welsh regions perspective I think Cardiff Blues will have a quite poor season with the Scarlets making the playoffs.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sea of Tranquility, Luna
The DG was when we nearly nicked either a win or draw ourselves with a late Tovey kick. That was a choker. We have drawn there before too and won.
I expect good things from Prydie and Dan Evans.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Sea of Tranquility, Luna
The Blues....I think the Blues will finish up about the same (7th I think it was?) but they'll make huge steps with squad depth and just ways to build up the region.
Scarlets....yeah I dunno about us. Again we have the potential, but do we have the brains? (more oft than not I think no) We did take most of our chances against LW mind, so I guess that's a plus. Reckon we'll be in the play off race anyways.

That is a well-written article, Rev. I never minded Robin Davey, but then in those days I was also reading the Western Mail, which probably made him look better!
Dan Evans looked really good against Irish too, Dreamer. It's his inconsistency that concerns me, but I've said before, maybe all he needs is the faith of the coaching team and a run in the side. He's a talented footballer, no question.

It was his inconsistency why we let him go (plus his attitude at times I think), the potential is there though so I hope you guys can get him to perform. One match against LI a few seasons back, the guy was amazing (think he got a Welsh cap off the back of it too). Would love to see him do well (just not against us....)
and I'm glad they've finally got a verdict on this one: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-east-wales-19420354
Still absolutely gutted for Simon Richardson though.

Despicable really, Dreamer. The best anti-drink-driving motto I've heard was from an advert they used to show on S4C: dim diferyn, dim difaru. (It doesn't sound as good in translation, but it's 'no drop, no regretting'.)
