First topic message reminder :

Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The Pub has made its way to Liverpool in honour of the victims of the Hillsborough disaster, who may finally receive justice.

We are also mourning the sudden loss of Nevin Spence, his father Noel and brother Graeme, who died tragically at their farm in Hillsborough, Co. Down yesterday.

We offer our thoughts and deepest sympathies to his sisters Emma (who remains in a stable condition in hospital), Laura, their mother Essie, family and all friends and fans of the Ulster Rugby community. rose

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Andy Murray, Craig Newby and Delme Thomas.

What's the score now Gibbo?

After 20 minutes it's still nil all Rolling Eyes Although the hosts are about to take a penalty so this could reach the dizzy heights of 3 - 0.

Eh...nope. It went wide.

....after 26 minutes...it's still nil all. Blues would've got the first try had the pass not been forward to the potential try scorer. This is frustrating.

Blues get the first points on the board after 38 minutes. Dragons have the best opportunity for the first try here....yep, Steffan Jones is over.

Hi all, I'm on the bus on the way back to Limerick.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the Ulster regs who met up with me over the weekend.

Incredible rugby match: a real proper inter-provincial that had it all. Im disappointed that we didn't snatch it but to be honest it was a fair enough result.

Dragons almost over for their second try but TMO said it was inconclusive. Can't disagree with that. Just saw legs...

Could you pop over to the London Irish board on rugbynetwork and let them know that please Hound mate, i really fear for the mental health of some of the people on there. 3 defeats at egg chasing and the sky has fallen in on their worlds!

Have to say I would rather see Wasps or Quins do well this year than Saracens, Tiggers or Saints after the turgid affairs they served up this weekend. Live a little fellas, chuck the feicin ball around a bit, it's only September and it's not pishing it down yet!!! Laugh

Just cooking the chilli whilst Mrs O puts the kids to bed. Think I may have made it hotter than I thought, just as well I have lager to cool my mouth with! Very Happy

H eidn't Hound that was part of the problem I blame some of that on Murray and his lack of basic scrum half play. You pass and then step. The best scrum halves in the game have either a bullet pass which can make up for the step or they have both. Murray is lettting himself and the team down. ROG didn't cover himself in glory either for it.

He is done at the top level, move on to Keatley and or JJ who can play this type of game.

T,

Seriously, I think you need to look at that last sequence of phases and you'll notice that it was nothing to do with Murray but RO'G continuing to call for more phases so he got the perfect place to kick from.

Hound, Im saying thats what the headline writers will say. Sensationalise it and sell papers.

Thomond thats a pile of rubbish about Murray "letting himself and the team down". I really dont like that kind of thinking.

Not one player on that pitch yesterday let anyone down.

Regarding the drop goal my view was that the best option was had was to use ROG as a decoy and let Ian Keatley take the potentially winning dropgoal.

I agree its time for O'Gara to take a back seat. Ian Keatley is playing really really well at the moment. He has scored tries, drop goals and been excellent from the boot. Plus we need to develop a new flyhalf - ROG is turning 36 this season. Time for change there.

Munsty, I'm going to stick what I believe and saw thank you very much. Murray's service is crap and won't improve until he masters one of the most simplest parts of scrum half play.

Stag, admire the thinking, yes it's a team game but Murray did the team no favours it's not/ nor ever will be on one guy like but Murray didn't help out in the last few minutes. Neither did ROG.

For what its worth seeing as there were about 6 Munster fans at the game I got to speak to a number of the players. I had a brief chat with a lot of the players - Earls, Murray, Laulala, Keatley, Howlett and Botha; they were all in good spirits and really enthusiastic and it really sounds like they are enjoying their rugby.

ROG and Downey both looked really pished off after the game.

I agree with you Munsty. My own feeling is that we will see Murray develop a faster pass this year. He came off the bench into a new system with which he was unfamiliar.

He wont have trained much with Rob Penney and his new total rugby that we seem to be going for.

I have faith that we can see Murray be a good scrumhalf option who offers a running threat around the fringes as well as good service similar to what we saw in his debut year.

I know we have a long way to go in terms of ERC matches but I think this is what I'd like to see for Europe:

01 Wian du Preez
02 Mike Sherry
03 BJ Botha
04 Donnacha Ryan
05 Paul O'Connell
06 Peter O'Mahony
07 Sean Dougall
08 CJ Stander
09 Conor Murray
10 Ian Keatley
11 Keith Earls
12 James Downey
13 Casey Laulala
14 Doug Howlett
15 Denis Hurely

16 Damien Varley
17 Marcus Horan
18 Stephen Archer
19 Donnacha O'Callaghan
20 Tommy O'Donnell
21 Peter Stringer
22 Ronan O'Gara
23 Simon Zebo

O'Dea deserves to be in that side I feel, on the bench at least. Can cover 15 as well. As for Murray oh he has the ability to do it, the reason he broke out in the first place was his size and pass combination the regression is alarming to say the least. It's his preseason yet but what you are looking for his working out the kinks and it was annoying that they were still there. That's what is worrying, you would think he would have learned where he went wrong but he didn't seem to.

I may have been a bit vocal or over the top in what I was trying to say and I apologies for peeing people off.

He has certainly got taller. There are days when it seems he has grown out of his clothes during a school day!

Still not tall compared to his team mates.

Yeah he's 14 T although he has an older sister.

He really enjoyed it when he grew taller than me although that is really not much of a challenge but now he is just taller than MrP. Had to get him adult golf clubs at the start of the summer!

All this growing is bloomin expensive I tell ya.

Gibbo,

I will stand by my assertion that your Chilli is GOING DOWN!!!!

I think Isa can replace him adequately MrsP

14 year old at I would guess 5 foot 9 or so? Pretty good going. He might make the move to centre yet. The food you probably are feding him with will help with the filling out too, Junior Cup next year or this year or both?

Try playing with small golf clubs that's when you know you're good Wink

Rugby fans (of an Ulster persuasion and other) brace yourselves. I'm rarely serious on this sight. In the next few hours I will be. I don't want to say anything till its confirmed but I'm very sad right now.

You ok Willy? Women issues?

Thomond - James Coughlan and Luke O'Dea both likely to miss next weekend match through injury. Probably going to see Dougall and Keatley rested for Niall Ronan and O'Gara.
