The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Taihape
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Taihape - The Gumboot Capital of the World!
http://www.taihape.co.nz/
We also welcome our newest member, Amber ...who no doubt will have an interest in those boots!
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Aaron Smith, Topsy Ojo, Jason Shoemark, Tom Rees, Gonzalo Garcia, Leo the Leinster Lion and Lalakai Foketi up on the wall.

OK Hoogs, thanks for the heads-up, is she a Horgan or Madsen fan? If I was Madsen, I'd take that.
If I was anywhere near Horgan - I wouldn't mention it.

It's basically a bunch of scientists and flight experts looking at plane accidents and how they modify the aircraft to minimise deaths and damage. Fascinating stuff. I love flying, but I'm not sure I'd be watching this if I was on a plane tomorrow.

It's simulating a crash, I gather. Have you not seen people on social networking sites choosing seats on it, so they can find out if they survive? I didn't have a clue what it was at first. PS, I'm not watching it (no tv)
Peej, too right pal. He can expect a visit off a right nasty So And So pretty soon.
Funnily enough, I told my missus' work colleague I was off away tomorrow so soon after just landing back (US and Canada this time) and she asked was I SF.

I don't use Twitter Risca, but there's the # address coming up on the screen. They crashed a passenger jet in the Mexican desert. Amazing how they done it. There's interviews with plane crash survivors too.

Haha, nah but that would've been funny Mrs P.
Cari, I've seen a few on FB too. I might 4OD it. The aircraft I'm going on tomorrow is like 40 years old though and going out of service soon (I might be one of the last passengers on it ever). So it's probably best I gave it a miss.

Risca - the experts reckon the best place to sit is by the wing or at the back of the plane and in braced position if that's any help...but then they contradict it with another story about a fella who survived a crash sitting in the front of a plane. Ultimately, the news is good though thanks to these sorts of safety tests.

Will be at the back because of the way the plane is setup upstairs. You fly seated backwards on this though, so don't know how that affects it.

Oh yeah. I don't worry about that sort of thing and I've been in bad turbulence and a bad storm in a puddlehopper before and 30 mins from running out if fuel when one's landing gear wouldn't come down. I would never be worried about flying.
The only time I've been scared of flying was flying pitch black into Iraq, but that was totally different.

prop, i don't think you offended anyone mate. It was a dirty, niggly game, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that something went on unseen at first glance on the camera.

Oh yeah, flying near the Icelandic ash cloud wasn't a pleasant flight either. That was in the same old aircraft I'm on tomorrow.
Anyway, bed time (I hope). If I don't come in tomorrow enjoy the rugby and I hope and Lucky manage to meet up at Gomez. I will be in the air at that time, I think.

Prop - you would've loved our bus driver this morning. He was the grumpiest, West Country driver ever. Bombed past all the stops in the city centre even though there were people standing in the shelters, if anyone quibbled over the fare he'd moan at them. Then in the pishing rain he stopped the bus in the middle of nowehere and said "Me blowers 'ave stopped workin' an' I can't go on..." to which someone upstairs shouted down "Well then drive with fecking driver's window open!"

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Taihape
An old German Shepherd starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a panther heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.
The old German Shepherd thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep Poopie now!"
Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the panther is about to leap, the old German Shepherd exclaims loudly,
"Boy, that was one delicious panther! I wonder, if there are any more around here?"
Hearing this, the young panther halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees.
"Whew!," says the panther, "That was close! That old German Shepherd nearly had me!"
Meanwhile, a squirrel who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the panther. So, off he goes.
The squirrel soon catches up with the panther, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the panther.
The young panther is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, squirrel, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!"
Now, the old German Shepherd sees the panther coming with the squirrel on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?," but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old German Shepherd says...
"Where's that squirrel? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another panther!"
Moral of this story...
Don't mess with the old dogs... Age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery!
Bull Poopie and brilliance only come with age and experience.

Nah, the guy took him out off the ball. There was no way there could have been any contact with the eye area on that occassion. It was cynical, niggly play but not violent. I guess it was going on all night, looked like a very niggly game and Hazell lost his head.

That said, I see Gloucester are talking of the gouging on Hazell. Would have happened prior to that incident.
Expecting a lot of citings from that game then! Hazells season is probably over for a start.
