The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Taihape
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Taihape - The Gumboot Capital of the World!
http://www.taihape.co.nz/
We also welcome our newest member, Amber ...who no doubt will have an interest in those boots!
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Aaron Smith, Topsy Ojo, Jason Shoemark, Tom Rees, Gonzalo Garcia, Leo the Leinster Lion and Lalakai Foketi up on the wall.

Stag,
My haircut is ace. I was going to congratulate you on a witty post concerning the unnamed player you met, but now you can swivel
I don't think I've ever been let down by a player I've met. Gavin Thomas was apparently a spanner to my mate in Toulouse, but knowing how annoying he can be when he's tipsy I take that story with a pinch of salt.
The best guy I've met is probably Melonhead. He's renowned as a grumpy git, but he smiled for a photo with me on my Welsh stag dooo. Ashley Smith from the Dragons was great in Toulouse, buying me and a few mates a lot of shots and chatting to us for ages.
My favourite guy (rugby related) I have spoken to though was Richard Parks on his homecoming last year.

He's not featured yet for the Chiefs, but has played well in the Braves - it's long season in the AP, with high attrition, he'll get his chance when he's ready, no need to rush him in yetrugbydreamer wrote: Has Damien played all that much for you then?

You'll love it with the Scarlets 'tribe'. Make sure you eat - and I'm serious. Get a good scoff down you at the airport if possible. It's too easy for away trips to turn into massive booze ups and you forget to eat. Adrenalin will only get you so far.
Been there and suffered because I didn't enough food in me.
Grand boozing though!

Ha and that rule's for people guaranteed a horrific hangover
Always make sure I eat before a big drinking session, or at least do my best to. Depends if the nerves about the match make me feel too to eat though! That's what usually happens.

Always remember the golden rule:
"Stop moaning and get it down you, we're here to drink not enjoy ourselves..."
I once saw a cockney and his son out for a night. His father was telling him:
"Get it down you son, it'll do you the World of good"
10 pints later and the son is spewing in the toilets:
"Bring it up son, it'll do you the World of good"
"Stop moaning and get it down you, we're here to drink not enjoy ourselves..."

Still doesn't really feel like it's this weekend, think excitement will kick in when I've my euros and I check in online tomorrow for my flights
Ah Mamma Mia, such a feel good film. Reckon I'm going to fall asleep with Abba songs in my head...
Nos da pawb.
Edit: - just seen Glas' post
And also just realised, this will actually be the first time I've been to France since I was 11 (the disastrous school trip to Disney Land Paris. I got stuck on top of the Indiana Jones roller coaster, in the Wee weeing rain, not fun)

Too right Hound mate. Once you get that buzz, you want more and more of it. Nothing beats that feeling, when you tour with your Tribe and mix & learn from other Tribes and places.
The rugby is just part of it all. Love it.
Hoog wrote:Where have I gone??
Not actually that many places, but it seems like much more because I have to travel to "home" games.
Know what you mean bud. Every Leinster game is away for me.
The ones I can remember now are:
Twickers
Wembley
Murrayfield
Lansdowne
Millenium Stadium
Croke Park
Parcs De Princes
Stade De France
Thomond Park
Welford Road
Ravenhill
Exeter
Llanelli
The Stoop
RDS
CCS
Donnybrook
Agen
Toulouse Municipal
Toulouse
Clermont
Amsterdam 7's
So many more to see. Love to get to Treviso (was in it, but not for Rugby) and Zebre. Ambition being, I want to have visited every PRO12, Jeff and TOP14 ground, before I head for the Big Stadium in the sky.
Id say The Hound has been to more places than there are places. Penfro too. The Ultimate Rugby Fans.

I got stuck on a ride there in the rain. I don't know what the Indiana Jones was, unless it was the runaway mine train thing. That's where I was. Luckily I didn't have far to walk.

Evening all, just home from netball, lost a game w should have won by 2 goals mutter mutter.
I had an interesting time doing the wrestling interviews today, some great comedy quotes "I go to the gym, I get a tan, I do my hair and I bang girls", plus the story about their management accidentally taking them to a gay club last night.

And the rugby podcast is me and Victor Obogu tomorrow night as Ozzy and Stag can't make it. Not a bad sub.

Not been to as many places as you gibbo. Only got the Euro bug about 5 seasons back.
I've never seen us lose a final though.
Kiwi had an impressive record two seasons ago, in terms of watching games in different competitions. I think it was at least six comps. International, HC, Amlin, Prem, Championship, National 1 and only missed out on the S15 (Crusaders v Sharks at Twickenham) because he was out of the UK at the time.
There may have been a ML in there too.

Wow, that's some stat from Kiwi, Hound. And I reckon you have been to places in the HC & Amlin, none of us have ever been to. The Amlin is quite exotic like that. Id still follow us in the Amlin. Just love to tour with them. Fancy seeing some rugby in Spain & Romania.
That Tour of 4, where Stag & Dreamer went to 4 different HC & Amlin games in a weekend, will take some beating. I managed 3 of em, along with the rest.

Remember us aulfellas? Man we laffed like eejits in the front-row. Penfro, Chef, Rav, As and I, with a balcony of beer lined up.
The Chef was getting pished off with us slagging French rugby. Man it was a shoite game. But the craic was good.
Happy Days my friend. Happy Days.

Morning folks, let me figure this out
I've been to
RDS (not a huge fan)
aviva (brilliant for Leinster. Flat for Ireland)
Croke Park (to far away from the pitch for a decent atmosphere)
Musgrave (good old fashioned terrace)
Thomond (wish Leinster could have something like that)
Ravenhill (the upgrade is about 15 years to late)
Y Parc (i think we all know what I think of this)
Welford Road (wow that Cat stand is impressive)
The Rec (bath is a lovely city)
Sandy Park (best atmosphere by far)
Millennium ( my favourite stadium)
Twickenham ( looks horrible from the outside, but another favourite of mine)
Parc de Prince (saw Ireland get hockeyed by Argentina there in 07, nuff said)
The Stoop ( AND YOUR SUPPOSED TO BE ENGLISH)
Kasam Stadium (or wherever London Welsh play)
Adams Park (nice setting but its a trek to get to it
Madjeski (another stadium in an industrial estate, was a great day out though)
Richmond Athletic (most important)
I think that's all of them, no doubt I've missed something
Oh Ealing (great clubhouse)

Joke doing the rounds on Twitter:
"rumour has it bookshops outside New Zealand are offering discounts on Richie McCaw's book to customers who come in the side entrance."
Personally I think the joke's a bit offside

McCaw was never offside. He was beyond side. The concept of side whether 'on' or 'off' is for lesser mortals like referees and linesmen.

I absolutely love it, it’s the perfect size for us now so the amount of people who pretty much fill it up is the same as the amount of people who go to a match to watch it. unlike the Aviva where you get 30k part time fans along who have no interest in the game and they’re just there for a night out.
I’ve been to:
Donnybrook
Tallaght Stadium
RDS
Aviva
The Stoop
Wembley
Twickenham
CCS
Millenium Stadium
Ravenhill
Thomond
Murrayfield
Think that’s it… Hmm, not too many then…

I watched 3 episodes of Doctor Who before bed. Woke up thinking I must have travelled through time. Seriously.

For European games
Rodney Parade
Adams Park
Stade Ernest Wallon
Twickenham
Millennium
CCS (nearly forgot the old Wasps trip there).
Otherwise
Sale Away Sale Away Sale Away
Welford Rd
Mennaye
Kingsholm
Liberty
PYS
Then a load of other smaller club grounds with Risca and all the Gwent premiership teams.
