The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Jersey
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to the island of Jersey, where the newly promoted hme side is off the bottom of the Championship.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Glen Jackson, Dan Parks and Matt Banahan above the bar.

I am not voting. For me it's a political appointment and I don't think that is right. There should be no political agendas in day to day policing.

No, I'll be voting for one of the candidates. Turnout is going to be low, though.
Ozzy, there are independent candidates. Two of them in Gwent.

Ozzy, it's a monumental waste of time and money. Not needed at all. However the current Police Authorities are manned by local councillors and therefore already political. These elections are not our way of doing things though.

If I'm honest I don't even know who's standing, no-one's publicised themselves or tried to let me know what they stand for. If anything I'd vote for the one who's has Police experience so may know what they are doing....that's if I vote, really don't get it!

Well like it or not, there will be PCCs and the posts are there to be filled. In light of that, surely it would be better to vote?

I get the impression I am not going to enjoy this Irish team announcement. Plenty of Ulster names being bandied about which is emphatically a load of ed balls. Our lads, if you dare pick them Declan, should be playing test matches not uncapped ones. See if one of you big Fijian's bruises an Ulsterman... Oh you'd better... Just you... I'll be very peeved.

Proud day indeed for both Marshalls, Jackson, Gilroy etc.
Chuffed they are in the squad although I am still totally baffled by Kidney's thinking.

Still in Court, supposed to be tucking in to steak and chips and a glass of Beaujolais in the Yacht Club. Almost as miffed as Ulster fans are with DC.

Nice bike ride home for you though Lucky!!
One thing I like about Cardiff is how the rugby players just wander round with the crowds, just went past some of the samoa team shopping and then past their team bus, wonder if they left them behind! Rugby culture: can't blydi beat it!!

Hi all. I've had a day off, but it involved a trip to the Vets this morning and a funeral this afternoon.
The funeral was for the guy who used to host our St George's Day lunches. Plus he used to make acoustic guitars from scratch.

Evening All
- my condolences. Hope your friend had a good send off. Sounds like he deserved it.
I voted today. I appreciate that there'll be a low turn out though. The BBC had a useful thing on their website that was basically a paragraph about each candidate for your local area and what their views are. There are four candidates in South Wales - two politicians and two independents. Like Lucky said, they're here to stay regardless, and I think it's better to have a voice than have none at all. Even the smallest tree can cast a shadow and all that...
They've put the lights on in Cardiff today, so I guess it's "officially" the Christmas season.

Cari/ prop - we gave John a good send off. It was a celebration of the man more than anything. How he would have wanted it too.
I've had a lump on the left side of my neck for about a week, so I went to the Vet to get it checked. I've to go back in a couple of weeks if it hasn't gone down.
Everything seems ok, but he's told me to go for a chest XRay. Just a 'getting older' thing that one, plus I've never had one.

Oh I hope it's nothing serious Hopefully just a cyst or swollen gland.
Speaking of hospitals, I became an auntie for the third time today My youngest brother's missus had a boy called Isaac this morning. A nice little chum for his older brother Lewis. My other brother's wife is having a second child due next May too. Can never have too many in the clan...

Thanks guys The mum went into hospital at half nine and he was born at twelve minutes past ten....mind you, he was eight days overdue...
Prop - the WRU have been informed Both of my brothers are well over six foot and built like brick wossnames. Mind you, Elliot (brother no.1's eldest boy) is more intent on being the next Batman and/or a rocker than a rugby player

Auntie Cari...again!!!
I'm not worried about the lump thing. The doc wasn't, and you've got to trust them. Stressing only makes things worse.
Bring on the rugby this weekend.

Had a couple of pints at my boss's "I'm not leaving after all" drinks, went to netball, played really well (it appears shooting goals on 2 pints is a bit like playing pool on 2), switched to mulled wine afterwards, then cider ...

It's uncanny that, isn't it, Pete? The problem is that after the third pint I'm not potting a thing!
Right, that's decided it, I'm going to the pub quiz tonight, with a few games of pool beforehand.

If I drink cider I'm good at stirring chilli/pasta apparently....found that out last December!!
Right so MrsProp is away tonight but I've chosen not to go to the match tonight and to watch it at home, is it bad that I'd rather fork out 40 quid so I can standing the shed and that includes petrol, 2 beers and food rather that 25 for wales plus 10 for 2 beers?! I've seen all the major teams play Wales and would rather watch lower level rugby (welsh prem) that go to the stadium anymore....is this odd?

I wouldn't say it's odd, Prop. If someone offered me tickets to the Samoa game I'd take them, but otherwise - well I know they're Test matches, but the Autumn internationals don't really grab me like the Six Nations does. It's not even a proper tournament.

Hear hear. And make them infrequent. It used to be such a big deal when the All Blacks toured - think back to 1973 and in his commentary on the Baa-Baas game, Cliff Morgan refers to them as the 'Seventh All Blacks'. It was such a rarity for them to come.
