The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Colwyn Bay
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Colwyn Bay, where the Tier 2 AIs are currently taking place.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Bob Scott and Malele Kunavore above the bar.

Ah Glas,
I'm sure that it has been your natural charm rather than the disinhibiting effects of alcohol that has caused the flirtiness you have noticed in these circumstances.

It's tradition
A few of my mates did masters degrees. One had a job and within half a day was calling the others scroungers and bemoaning the fact they were living off his taxes!

Tell me about it!
At this stage, I'm pretty happy because getting such a high mark in my MA gives me a good chance of securing some AHRC funding, somewhere. The competition is intense but given the frosty state of the graduate job market a funded PhD place is probably the best job I can get. The living grant is 12k a year for three years but its tax free.

I guess so, help yourself.
Thanks everyone. Really appreciate it. Lets all raise a glass to becoming over-qualified for all the jobs that are realistically available

Could/would you give guitar lessons to bolster your income while studying?
I know that Guitar is one of the most popular instruments for kids to ask for at school.

That's a great idea MrsP. Give it a go Notch, you could try putting an ad in your local newsagent, something might come of it. You can make decent money from it, an ex-boyfriend had a music degree and made a reasonable second income from giving piano lessons.

An MA with distinction and still he feeds the trolls in the Irish boards. University education has clearly gone downhills these days. I remember back in my day we had jumpers for goalposts, Monster Munch didn't cost 80p for a packet, and we all knew not to feed nasty beasts under the bridges.

Congrats to Notch, and I hear there is a baby Rodders on the way, knowing the Simpsons buffs in here, I expect this has been shown already but no harm in showing it again if it has.
If the godfather hasn't been selected.....
My Kiwi Aunt is over for Christmas, staying in the parents house might bring her up to Thomond on Stevens Day, should be a good one.

Rodder's missus is pregnant? Does no on else find it suspicious that the fruit of his loin seems to be conceived just as turkey basters are in every supermarket aisle?

The soluton to Ireland's centre problem is an American athlete. Unfortunately I haven't won the Euromillions so we won't be able to pay him but seeing as Keith Earls' three tries against Ulster 19s means he is the next best thing then maybe we take college stuff into account? (P.S. This guy could be the next great running back)

Thomond, the Irish threads are a waste of space when a certain poster gets going. Even for the very low bar at which I judge his cretinism, he excelled himself tonight. But sure, it only ruins it for everyone else.

Is Hooky really "Ron Manager" ?
Football Commentator: Well, Ron Manager, once again the pace and the tempo of that first half totally dictated by the boy wonder, Ryan Giggs.
Ron Manager: Cor, Ryan Giggs, you know? Giggsy, isn't it? Mmm? Giggsy-wiggsy? Mmm? Oh! Ryan-y Giggsy-wiggsy. Isn't it? You know, marvellous.
Tommy: Is he the new George Best?
Ron Manager: Is George Best the old Ryan Giggs? But Giggsy-wiggsy. Precocious talent, isn't he? Mmm? Ooh, got it all, you know? Speed, acceleration, sweet left foot, all the tricks - the dummy, the drop of the shoulder, the shimmy, nutmeg, jiggery-pokery, hocus pocus, abracadabra, I wanna reach out and grab ya. Steve Miller Band? Spin Doctors? Ooh, very similar.
Football Commentator: Thank you, Ron. Now, Tommy, it's interesting to see the diamond formation being used again.
Ron Manager: Diamond formation? Does anyone really know what that is? I mean, at least you knew where you were with Alf Ramsey's wingless wonders. You know? 4-4-2, 4-2-4, 4-3-3... 0898 654000, freephone double glazing?
Football Commentator: You've lost me there, Ron. Not sure about that particular formation. But, Tommy, do we need structure? Look at the Brazilians.
Ron Manager: Oh, those Brazilians, you know? Circa 1970? Broke the mould. Theory out the window. Free expression of football. Uncategorisable. Is that a word? It is now! You know? Far cry from small boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts. Rush goalie. Two at the back, three in the middle, four up front, one's gone home for his tea. Beans on toast? Possibly, don't quote me on that. Marvellous.

Bore da pawb / good morning all, it's not raining here yet but the wind's picked up. I might have to nip out in a bit to buy a dinghy.
Notch: congratulations. Great stuff!
Pete: I hope you got the answer right!
Glas: PM for you.

Prop, I keep imagining what it'll be like if we actually beat the All Blacks on Saturday. It happens every time we play them, regardless of how we've been playing.
All the signs point to a defeat, but anything's possible in a two-horse race. You never know: that's the magic of sport.
Glas: diddums!

It's true that you don't become a bad side overnight, but even if we're at our best, we'll need them to have a relatively poor game if we're going to win.
