The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Colwyn Bay
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Colwyn Bay, where the Tier 2 AIs are currently taking place.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Bob Scott and Malele Kunavore above the bar.

So here it is. New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and France are going to be the Top 4 seeds in the next Rugby World Cup.
England, Ireland and Samoa will be second seeds and the last place in the second tier is between Wales and Argentina. If Wales hadn't scheduled an extra test for money making purposes outside the International Window it would be a done deal. They would be in the Top 8 and Argentina wouldn't. But lose to Australia and they slip out.
Poetic justice in a way if their desire to fill their wallets loses them a Top 8 place. I think they will beat Australia, but there's a good chance they could have massively shot themselves in the foot here.

I agree Notch. I really wish the match wasn't happening next week. Unfortunately people won't speak with their wallets and it'll probably sell out or near enough. The players are knackered already and there's the Heino Cup games the following week. I don't see how it's going to benefit anyone - except WRU profits.

Cheers hound, poor conditions and not a great spectacle, but it gives us an unbeaten tour, so we'll take it.Hound_of_Harrow wrote:Morning pub.
Congrats on the win Biltong. We had quite a few Bok fans in the pub for the game.
Better news for England in the cricket. India are 117 for 7 with a lead of just 31. Minted for Monty (Panesar) who has taken 5 wickets in both innings
Time to get brunch on the go....
Our cricket is not doing so well though.

So Zebre 7-5 up at half-time over Cardiff!
Amazingly BBC Wales have no coverage, not even online. Anyone know where I can watch the second half?

Ah, bit gutted for Zebre. It's weird wanting the Blouse to lose a bit, but obviously we need to catch them.

It's not unusual - Zebre home games aren't covered over here much. I think Sport Italia broadcasts the odd match live over there which is where we get the highlights from. They've just showed some brief highlights on S4C before the Munster-Scarlets match that's coming up now.

Alright Rev, Cari Afternoon pub, .
Just watched the Ireland game from yesterday, absolutely buzzing.
That's as big a hammering as Argentina have had in a long time. Lovely to see so many Ulster boys in there too.

Afternoon, amigos. Good result for Ireland yesterday, enjoyed watching that. The same can not be said for Warriors v Leinster on Friday. If I have ever sat through a worse game, my memory has obviously engaged self-defense mode and expunged it entirely. Turned out that missing the first 20 minutes was a blessing in disguise - thank you, SatNav Woman!

Hey Puma .
That game did look a bit grim to be fair, both the scoreline and the weather were equally as uninviting.
Did the SatNav woman not know the way to Scotstoun then? Or did she start putting her lippy on in the rearview mirror and miss a turn? ... ... ...
He went that way.

You'd have to be a hardcore rugby fan to be at this Munster game. It's lashing down, blowing a gale and only 3-3 after 65 minutes. Terrible conditions.

Wasps scraped home 14-12 against Tiggers, with the kickers on both teams having an off day - NR, Elliott Daly, and Lee Thomas for Wasps, and Ford for Tiggers. Thomas closed the game out for us.
Exe got a win at Irish,.23-26. Great fight back by Irish after being 3-21 down to lead 23-21. Two Steenson penalties sealed the deal.
The weather spoilt a lot of games this weekend.

Correction 23-27 to Chiefs.
Nice win for Scarlets, keeps them on Ulster's tails, 6 points behind.
Our win doesn't move us up the table, due to Exe's win, and Saints having won one more game.

Mrs Holybloke went to the German Market in Brummagemshire today, she just came back with a 4 year old mature Cheddar and a Jamaican Jerk Cheddar, from the Cheddar Cheese Company, an hour and a half up the road.
I'll repeat that.
Mrs Holybloke went to the Ger... forget it, honestly, just forget it, I'm off to the foot of the stairs...

Is it a German company?
Is the cheese made from German milk?
German cows?
Had the man who sold the cheese once been to Germany on his hols?
Do you buy cheese at the foot of your stairs as well as at the German market or is that where you go to eat it?
I seem to remember you fitting a new kitchen recently, no? Are you afraid of making a mess in there and so you will not allow cheese to be consumed in it?
So many questions....

...so little time.
I've no idea what the Cheddar Cheese Company is doing at the German market, MrsP, but by God they're bloody good
I have experteeses in cheeses and the 4 year old is particularly fine, the Jamaican Jerk is a novelty that works OK with my homemade pickled O'Nions, but it's not a proper cheese.
I'm going to break open the Dow's and do some further research.
Well done Mrs Holybloke! I take it all back.
PS The foot of the stairs is where one goes to meditate on lifes little ironies, especially when they're particularly outstanding ones.
PPS Just spotted the Jamaican funny as I was about to post, like it.

Ha! You know it Glas.
Seriously though, if anyone likes their cheese, get on this Cheddar Cheese Company, this 4 year old is poetic.
It's waxed and a closed cheese, like all good Cheddars should be, and the texture is massively creamy but still has a nice firm body with no hint of rubber.
The rush of flavour is an absolute riot! It's got an instant cheek sucking tang that cuts through a Dow's 10 year old Ruby like a ram raider on angel dust, it hangs for ages and is backed up by a bloom of ripe fruity flavours that have a distinct Orangey edge to them, the taste fades away to a nutty, mushroomy end that conjures up images of a Autumnal forest floor.
I ay kiddin, it's proper cheesey.
It's got more cheese than Smokey & The Bandit II.

Stop, stop, stop, going on about cheese. OK? Everybody have a grip on the no cheese thing? Cheese is not on my diet sheet but .. I love cheese. I just love it, love it, love it. My dad used to call me 'Mousey' when I was a child, because I loved cheese so much. Have to keep cheese in the fridge for Mr Puma - arghhh, need to keep away from it!

Evening all.
I suspect the combination of Ex winning and Andy Robinson resigning have left Asbo in such a state of euphoria that he is floating above the floods!
Just seen the funniest post in ages.
A fan of a certain, nameless team, has just been whinging about the "one-eyed Irish ref" for his teams match.
The ref was FRENCH!!!!!!!
His eye patch has clearly slipped round the side of this fans head!

Bore da pawb / good morning all, please.
It's not raining!
I've had a great weekend. There's been a bit of a problem the last month or so: I always used to take the pup to my dad's on Sundays and my oldest sister and family used to bring their dog. Now my youngest niece, who's five, suddenly decided she was terrified of the pup, who apart from being excited when she first meets people, just wags her tail and licks people's hands. Long story short, we decided we wouldn't bring our dogs with us on Sundays for a while. So on Saturday my brother-in-law and I took the dogs on a long walk together and they got on pretty well, despite their age difference; and yesterday, we all went over to Swansea to visit my middle sister. We met at the beach, the dogs had a good runaround, and my nieces realised again that Lola is a good dog and there's no reason to be scared of her. Back at my sister's we had a roast pork dinner and played some parlour games, it was great. And now I'll be able to take the pup to my dad's on Sundays.
