Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The pub has made its way to Dubai, host city for the upcoming round of the IRB Rugby World 7s.

Visitors are reminded to dress sensibly and carry their working-'holiday' permit with them at all times and if possible; engage in their sinful drinking habits within the smoky confines of the underground "English Pub". We have more big screens than you could ever dream of...

If you need to go for a swim at the beach - application forms for towels and umbrellas are available at the bar.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Ricky Ponting, Bradley Davies, Andrew Hore and Craig Gilroy above the bar.

Delighted for Connacht as well, but Biarritz are really... really frustratingly average. I will laugh and laugh if they manage to stuff up the easy draw they've been given.

I bet. They aren't shy of a big occasion. I think they have a better record against Munster and Leinster than us, or at least they did until very recently! Take them lightly at your peril...

I wish that game had been at a different time so I could have watched it as well. Looks like I'll miss the Munster match tomorrow too, even though I'll see the first two games.

Had both games on, but watched more of the Connacht one. Was really impressed with McSharry at 12, looks a very good player who could make the step up to international level.

Delighted for Ulster and Connacht (mildly less so the later as they have somewhat screwed up my sportsguru)

But WillyG, you wouldn't begrudge Connacht their win. Although they really have no business being in this competition you know.

Probably no. To be honest haven't a clue on player's form, injuries etc. I use the 'gut feeling' method.

They played at the Sportsground... so I thought that might be an advantage plus the fact the French may feel a little disempowered in front of a few thousand diehard Connacht fans.

I don't think too many would have given Connacht the nod on that one even at the Sportsground.

No, it didn't. 25 picked Biarritz, 12 Connacht, 7 no picks.

Correct me if I've got this wrong; but Connacht have improved the last year or so (a few surprise scalps) and they seem to be a bunch of triers who are committed to the cause of 'doing their best against all odds'.

They always have been that indeed but they have been descimated by injuries. Missing 13 I think.

They are never an easy prospect at the Sportsground but that result is outstanding.

That will have given hope to lots of other teams who may not think they can top their group as everyone expected Quins and Biarritz to walk into the quarters from that pool.

Look at the interplay between Jared Payne and Tommy Bowe here -beautiful stuff.

Payne just oozes class. I hope he stays at Ulster for a long time.

Are Wasps playing this weekend?

I missed the time we played them at home (was in america) we lost by 1 point and didn't have about 6 first team starters and the tighthead in that game was playing his first ever game of rugby and we had to play a prop at hooker so I'm hopeful!!
