The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Dubai دبيّ
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Dubai, host city for the upcoming round of the IRB Rugby World 7s.
Visitors are reminded to dress sensibly and carry their working-'holiday' permit with them at all times and if possible; engage in their sinful drinking habits within the smoky confines of the underground "English Pub". We have more big screens than you could ever dream of...
If you need to go for a swim at the beach - application forms for towels and umbrellas are available at the bar.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Ricky Ponting, Bradley Davies, Andrew Hore and Craig Gilroy above the bar.

Let's be honest- they're not going out at the group stages whoever they get.
The only teams seeded below them they've lost to, ever, are England and Wales. And Wales was far, far back in the mists of time.

Likewise.
Lot of rugby between now and then in any case, but games between the three teams will all carry an extra edge now, it's going to be epic!
Evening all, hope everyone is well.

Good Evening (Morning) Pubfolk,
Israel "Issy" Folau has signed with the Waratahs - or will be signing up in about 3 hours.
Amazing player who is simply devastating on the park.
(don't think he's ever played rugby though...)
Same as us Prop - no great threats in our pool either!

Wasn't he meant to sign for a club in Union about 4 years ago breaker?
I presume he will play on the wing?

Evening All
Well I'm not chuffed about the draw but I think could it have been much worse? The only good thing seems to be Wales aren't playing the ABs. I'm still cheesed off with the WRU about Saturday's match and Wales being 3rd tier....grumble....grumble...ah well. The world's supposed to end next week anyway.

That was around the time (about 2 years ago) when he signed up for GWS Aussie Rules side. I'd say wing or centre... can also play full back.

He's a legend of the other code. I bet he will be around the squad for the B&I Lions tour.
I would rate him better than Sailor or Tuquiri - more brutal and a great runner with the ball.

Fairly chuffed with our draw. That Oz/English/welsh group is especially tasty though.

Evening pub pickers.
There is potential for all the 6N teams to improve massively before the RWC. All of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales have put some faith in young players in the last 12-18 months.
Some more than others mind.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Dubai دبيّ
Good morning all
First interview went well. They commended me on addressing all the items in the invitation (unlike the others apparently) and a couple of things I had in there made them Tinkywinky their ears and sit up. There were 6 people on the panel including a bloke from the Gvt transport dpt.
Have to wait for a 'clarification' to be sent out and respond to that but I think I did all I could and they seemed to be very positive about my potential involvement with the project. It will come down to price naturally but they said all 3 had (maybe justifiably) assumed there would be a hell of a lot of more work in a short space of time and heavily loaded that into their 'early' planning stage price.
Not much happening on the rugby scene here except the Izzy Folau thing.
I'm coming down off the loss to SA in the cricket but still feel optimistic about the future. SL tour here next so that should be fun to follow. The Big Bash starts on Friday night and the A-league (summer league) is about quarter way through.
Apart from that, Christmas here is all about the same things but it takes place in the hottest part of the year.
Some years are cold and rainy... but not quite snowing (although it can snow in Jan/Dec in NSW/Vic and Tassie) whilst others are perfect. One needs to be careful after all the Christmas feasting though - so as not to drown in the pool or fall off a cliff or accidentally step on a croc or snake.
If you behave sensibly, stay in the shade, always have a drink and a small bite to eat nearby, keep an eye out for any surprise visitors lurking around... whilst enjoying yourself looking out over a fairly decent scene full of life and colour.... then you should be fine.

Morning/Evening Breaker, sounds pretty positive on the tender front mate, I'm going to sacrifice a bag of cement to the construction gods today.
On the festive note, it sounds worse than here, not only will you be sweating your nads off after stuffing yourself full of dry turkey, but you'll also have to keep half an eye out to make sure something vile and poisonous doesn't try and kill you... come to think of it, that does sound a bit like our house.
Anyhoo, keep on keepin' on fella, I smell a juicy contract coming Breaker's way, but possibly not the one you're expecting... I have a feeling.

Well done LB.
PJ, my own brother asked me yesterday to sell his house "before Christmas". Big construction companies are threatening to pull out of sales if there is no exchange "by the 21st of December at the latest", telling them that our clients don't have a mortgage yet isn't working. They don't have a cue of people for every house but feel the need to shout the odds. Mad month has begun...

Thanks for the well wishes fellas.
It is snowing on the peaks as I type apparently (just saw it on the weather update)... but they are about 500km south.
However it's been hot here and in Victoria. Someone stuck a thermometer in the pavement in Melbourne and it was 60.5 to 62 degrees C.
Too hot to sit on.
Hey Culchie... how are ya?

Morning Billy-Bob, . Getting myself set for another day of patronisation from the knobber I'm working for.
(Customer leans over my shoulder) "So, how are we going get rid of that gap there then, have we got something to sort that out?"
"Nope, because unless you've got a set of overalls and a whole bunch of tools, "we" ain't doin schitt about it, I however, will scribe a filler in, like I always feckin do, when you've got the feck out of my space that is!!"
Oh, I'd love to. Just once.
Have a good day/night fellas.

Those feckin 'know all and do nothing types'.
Best to ignore the baastards as much as possible and answer any questions in a few words only.
Stand over tactics only ruffle me up the wrong way. I once worked for this bloated intimidating developer (a few of them actually!) and when I finally snapped and screamed back - the bloke (who looked a bit like Brutus on Popeye) - turned into a little mouse.
He then started grovelling (it was embarrassing!) and begging me to do things my way!

Indeed.
Reminds me of the first time we went away after we got our dog. Friends had offered to puppy sit. They have a boy the same age as our lad.
Our rascal (the dog, not the lad) was still at the "chew anything" stage and managed to get the book this child had done his homework in.
He had to go into school and explain that "the dog had eaten his homework" even though they didn't have a dog!

Reminds me we once went camping at a place called Lake Burrendong and we tied up the border collie pup to a tree overnight... right next to the tents.
In the morning, the rascal had cleverly chewed through the rope and was very obediently sitting/lying in the same spot having found a pair of glasses nearby and was in the process of stripping all the plastic bits off the wire frame.
