What's this? Richard Sherman has been trying to tell us all again about how good he is........ yawn......... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Must be horrible being so insecure in yourself that you need to constantly keep telling people that you think you're good at what you do. I feel sorry for him to be honest...

Couple of not very noteworthy Giants stories from NJ.com.
Dwight Freeney quoted as saying it'd be a dream to play for NYG, his childhood favourite team. But has also said he would like to play for the Jets too.
John Mara said the Giants will probably not use the franchise tag this year. Although we've only used it three times before so no real surprise.

Sure Sherman played elite this year, I don't think anybody would dispute that.
But Devin McCourty played elite his rookie year. Look how he does at CB now. One good season don't make him the best since sliced bread

Sherman has good stats all ound in 27 starts. Has 3 FF a sack, 12 picks and 24 pass break ups, he shut dwn his side of the iPod entrly, it's jut there s o media attention in Seattle so no one knows how good he really is

Well next season will be his big test. Now he has the media attention, he might not handle it. QB's will go after him, he hasn't got Revis/Deion like shutdown ability

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
Just FYI McCourty had 2 FF, 1 sack, 7 interceptions and 17 PDs in his first 16 games, so statistically pretty similar. I don't doubt McCourty's ability to play corner BTW, he's just not as effective in press as he is in zone.cherriesfna wrote:Olly wrote:Sure Sherman played elite this year, I don't think anybody would dispute that.

I think most people know Sherman had a good year. If I was a coach I'd love to have a CB who can do what Sherman does, I'd also love to have Darrelle Revis. Like Olly said Sherman has to prove he can play at a consistently high level, something Revis and others have already done.

Manti T'eo survives his press conferences and interviews apparently. Now the question will be where his talent sees him drafted. The memories of his urine poor game vs 'Bama are fresh.

watching live on nfl network right now, Goodwin ran a 4.25 too. But Marcus Davis at 6'4", 235 ran a 4.40, very good too

Austin's stock will certainly have risen after that. I'd tip him to go first round now for sure. Would love to have him at the Texans, having him on one side and Andre Johnson on the other would be a WR duo to be reckoned with and would give Schaub another top drawer option to throw to, and he certainly needs top guys around him! Really interested to see where this lad ends up.

The 49ers have all but said they have a deal in place to trade Alex Smith and it is most likely to be to the Chiefs.

Star Lotulelei is sent home from the combine after a heart defect was discovered. Selfish point of view is that he's now likely to slide way past Oakland at 3.
Hope he is ok of course, I'd hate to see his career impeded by health like that.

I guess it depends what further tests uncover but it's a big blow and it probably shakes the draft up a bit at the top.
A lot of mocks have Shariff Floyd going to the Raiders (even before the Star problems), but I haven't seen much of him.
Geno Smith is faster than expected isn't he?

Smiths a pocket passer though. Had like a 1.9 YPC in college. Shame, because he isn't a great pocket passer.
Heart conditions no joke, esp for someone Star's size. I think he'd going to take a major tumble.
Messes up the Eagles plans too. Probably helps Milliner.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
He wants to be regarded as a passer first, but now he's shown some speed he will likely be tempting to teams looking to use a mobile QB. He should have run a 5.1 to stop all that...
Wonder whether Star falling will make trades more likely at the top of the draft. What with one of the premier players dropping it makes the scramble a bit more interesting.

It could go the other way though too, a team desperate to secure one of the top players moves up to make sure they do now the pool is narrower

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
True, but the Chiefs seem set. Might see some movement in the top 5, but nothing like last year. Not the prospects in this draft.
If Geno Smith is still there at 4, then the Eagles might take calls I guess. Like to move down and take Milliner/Vaccaro/Johnson.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
The way the current mocks are going suggests that Geno is on the Raiders board so it may be that we have some leverage to move down as the first feasible team that may use a pick on a QB
Or maybe it just improves the Jags position

@DraftCountdown
I can see it now, the #Chiefs trade for Alex Smith then win just enough games to take them out of range for a top QB in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Let's be honest this will likely happen if they get Smith.

Eagles release Cullen Jenkins. Good interior pass rusher, but injury prone and can't play the run.
Wouldn't surprise me if they made a run at Ricky Jean-Francois in FA.

Albert Breer @AlbertBreer
Can confirm @SI_PeterKing report. Brady gets 3-year, $27M deal. Clears $15m in cap space. Pats now have well over $30m next 2 years.
Brilliant stuff all round! Gives us a chance to re-sign Welker now, and concentrate on the defence in the draft!
Brady obviously really wants that 4th ring

Redskins making noises about taking legal action to delay the start of free agency over the corrupt salary cap penalty the league hit them with last year. We probably won't do it and even if we do, any attempt to get back some of our salary cap will likely fail, but I'm all for us doing anything that gets back even just a little at every other team and every other owner that was too gutless to stand up and say what John Mara and Roger Goddell were doing was wrong. Screwing up the start of the league year is fine by me!

More posturing ultimately. Nothing Snyder can do, and I doubt Goodells about to lie down for him after the bounty trials. Snyder wants to urine off the rest of the NFL and fans be my guest

Yeah, just a bit of posturing really. Any action would be doomed to fail most likely. Having said that, Snyder is a man who has taken fans of his own team to court before so I doubt he'd be shy about doing this even if it was just to poke Goodell and the owners in the eye for a few weeks.

We've seen some stupid things in the NFL over the years, but I think James Harrison refusing to go to the White House after the Steelers won the SB, because they wouldn't have been invited if the Cards won, takes the cake.
