KK, I did wish Croft well. I think he's a good player. But, I also think you're covered in the back-row (but that's with me not knowing if Wood is available?). Tuilagi would be a loss. Say he misses the 6 Nations do you think you have a good player to step in?
Tough one morg? No one proven or even half as good, just for the love of god he does not have Barrett Farrell partnership!!

Care to name the 40 non British players?
You know the ones with no English parent or grandparent?

Gents I wouldsuggest you start a new topic about non british players if so inclined, ensure though that you can prove your assumptions otherwise it will lose all credibility.

Think we're just going to be suffering at prop and center, bit light there.
Everywhere else(touch wood(gently don't want to break him)) we have cover that is good enough

Poor lad is not having much luck with injuries stretching back to the RWC. Good player.
Who will assume his place at Loosehead. I saw Thomas has been called up from Sale Sharks.

.big loss for 6n as he is by far our best loosehead.personally I would have mullan and wood ahead of vunipola for the bench spot assuming marler is now 1st choice.

The positive aspect is that it allows others to gain more experience and gives us more strength in depth heading forward.its very rare nowadays for any team to be able field what is regarded as their best side.

Well said.
A squad needs at least three front rowers of capable ability these days such is the level of attrition.
Interesting to see Thomas called up as next in line.

Re: England Injury Update
I can't see Thomas as next in line ahead of Wilson & PDJ, his scrummaging isn't up to scratch from what I've seen.
It'll give Marler a chance to grow a bit, all good.

Re: England Injury Update
I think the difference between Corbisiero and Marler gets overstated. Marler played the Australia game with a knee injury that ended up keeping him out for 5 weeks so not fair to read too much into that, and he did well in South Africa. People said that Corbisiero changed the game when he came on in the second test, but England had turned over the last SA scrum before Marler went off, and Corbs was repeatedly penalised and warned about his binding by the referee. Marler is also pretty handy at the breakdown.
He hasn't yet put in a really big performance at international level, but he dominates international opposition regularly at Quins. I think we'll do just fine with him.

Foden is in very poor form - I'd expect Brown on the wing and Goode at FB.
Thomas in the loose is incredible, but his scrummaging needs lots of work. Harrison, the young Sale LH, looks a potential future international to me.

I thought Marler really struggled in SA.
Marler generally does well when JJ dominates, you hardly get that kind of domination at Int level (unless playing Ireland)

Below Corbisiero Hartley and Cole there has been a great need to source and develop the depth. Tom Youngs has emerged possibly even challenging for Hartley's number two shirt but Cole and Corbisiero are definitely not under the same pressure.
That said injury to Cole and England are looking at a big disadvantage up front in the scrum. Similar can be said of Ireland, Scotland and Italy.
Although it has been unfortunate for Wales to lose our first choice of Jenkins, Rees, and Jones in regular succession over the last four or five years, it has given us an excellent opportunity to reinforce. Ffrance have a Prop forward factory manufacturing excellent front row talent on a weekly basis, they are one of only two nations in the World (SA are the other) who never lack for players up front.
England need to do the same as Wales and blood younger promising players at prop and hooker. Vunipola Youngs and Wilson, (if he is the only Tighthead back up to Cole) need game time, even just finishing quarters.

Re: England Injury Update
Really bad news regarding Corbs, especially for Saints who have just spent a probable fortune on him. Hope he takes the time out to properly recover.
I thought Henry Thomas was a tight head prop? But he's been brought in to replace a loosie?

Maes has been posting a lot of sensible stuff recently but...
Corbs is a loss, hes still a young guy so lets just hope his knee can recover.
As for bringing young players through, I know they have had to wait a long time for their chances but Marler (22) and Vunipola (21 is it?) both have caps.

Yea the blooding has been going on since SL took over.
I think Cole is only 25 still, crazy really.
If we lose Cole or Corbs the step down is pretty big, similar for most nations I guess.

Re: England Injury Update
Corbs and Croft are beginning to look a bit injury prone. Both are huge players for England. I think they should be rested for the 6N and also the Lions.
Wood, Lawes and Flood - although not quite so worrying - are borderline injury prone, and I'd be happy to see them play some part in the 6N and then be rested for the summer and not included in the Lions tour.
These types of players need time to heal and recuperate. Bringing them back to test rugby too soon simply slows their recovery. Let them get back to speed at their clubs.

Marler will start and Vunipola will bench.
Marler will not let us down and at 22 hes still a beginner for a prop really.
He'll get plenty of experience through the 6n...and again down in the scrummaging land of Argentina in the summer.
I think its a farsical scenario that Wodd the gloucester loosie has never featured much for England. He was WAY better than Sheridan...

I don't think Croft needs a rest, he's just had 8 months off!
His latest injury was just a knock to the back (inbetween the hip and ribs) and will be fine.

Are they though?
Corbs is 1st choice 1 yes...but hes had a few years of regular international gametime. Marler has been playing top class opposition in the HC and done well. Him and the rapidly improving Vunipola (not many are fast tracked at Sarries but they must seriously rate him) will be just fine.
Croft is an interesting one...hes athletic and a lineout guy...but with Parling becoming a serious weapon there we dont lose out. Like wise in the close game...i think Tom Wood offers us more.

I think id go
10 - Farrell
12 - Barritt
13 - Twelvetrees
With barritt and 36 interchanging. Then in the second half depending on the situation in the game...bring Joseph on for possibly Barritt...and move 36 to 12.

10. Owen Farrell
12. Brad Barritt
13. Jon Joseph
I think either that, or bringing in Twelvetrees to inside centre and shifting Barritt out one.
It’s a blow if he is unavailable against Scotland; it is a disaster if he is unavailable against Ireland.
