Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread Part 3
First topic message reminder :
Basically depth for depth, though I did think we were fine at RB with Richardson, Hardesty and Ogbonnaya but Acho wouldn't have fit the new 3-4 scheme so can't really complain about the deal too much and maybe one of those back ups gets sent off in a trade somewhere during the draft.GSC wrote:Eagles traded Dion Lewis to Cleveland for Emmanuel Acho. Decent backup Lewis, just not as good as Brown.

Peterson's been running backwards since the first play, still has 3 TDs. Lions look an awful lot like the Lions; with a little more luck and a lot more discipline they could be a decent team.

Kudos the Titans... they have effectively shut out Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh seeing as there only points conceded were by a dum safety on the opening kickoff return.
And Ponder keeps sucking...

Ponder has improved as the game went on, then Fusco goes and trips him and AP fumbles!

From Mike Tomlin: Pouncey injured his ACL + MCL, will need surgery. LB Larry Foote ruptured his biceps. Costly loss for Steelers.
Pouncey injury is huge for them. What an awful start to their season

Interesting first week to say the least
Pats had major issues against a Bills secondary down 2 players.
Bucs offense anemic
Lions look electric when they don't stop themselves
Statement stop from the Saints in the superdome

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread Part 3
Vikings-Lions takeaways
Ponder very inconsistent, had some good deep throws for once but 3 INTs says it all really.
Peterson couldn't really get going apart from the brilliant 74 yard TD, Lions D did a good job on him.
Detroit offense is even more scary with Reggie Bush who ran/caught brilliantly.
Minnesota D was a bit rubbish, generated little pass rush and dealt with Bush poorly.
Were also a bit unlucky on 2 3rd down penalties that ended up allowing Detroit to seal the game(although I'm obviously biased about that!).
Lions had some boneheaded moments that negated even more TDs(SUH!).

Damn Fantasy Football. I need Kaepernick to score points for me in the West but not against me in the keeper league Glad I took a gamble on Jared Cook in a few leagues.

Just going over the scores now I'm home.
The Patriots used their 'get out of jail card' a bit early this season. EJ Manuel seems to have fitted in ok though. The Dolphins got a win against the Browns (not helped by Weeden) but where were Miller and Wallace? The Dolphins need to improved. The AFC North went 0-4. Bengals will be disappointed to lose. Don't know what was up with the Steelers?

Losing 21-17 almost feels like a victory. I suppose that's how you can tell you're a Raiders fan.
Still, TP had a decent game and if he cuts out the bad throws then he can be a good QB for us. He can at least move us downfield which is something you'd doubt Flynn would be able to do with this running game and our receivers.

My starters contained:
James Jones - 0 catches, 0 yards
Chris Ivory - 15 yards, 0 TDs
David Wilson - 2 fumbles, minus points
Ravens D - 3 points, after being lit up
If it wasn't for Brees, Witten and Legatron I'd probably be in single digits.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread Part 3
brilliant win for 49ers and we didn't even play all that well. Eric Reid looked incredible for the most part and looks like one of the biggest hitters around. I'll admit I wasn't keen on the pick straight away but based on last night we got a good one with none of the major coverage limitations touted. We got a steal in Boldin too, looked quicker than I've seen him and already clearly a leader on the field, Ravens will regret it

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread Part 3
Welcome back Larry Fitzgerald! 2 TDs already (only 4 all of last season). Looks like those Missing posters I taped up to light poles around the city worked out. Finally has a real NFL caliber QB spinning the rock down the field to him.
Glad I took a chance on him for my fantasy team.
Now we just need the Cards defense to learn how to tackle - though the Honey Badger looks like the real deal. Great effort play catching that receiver and knocking the ball loose at the goal line.

Ravens were in cap hell though. I'm sure they would have rather kept Boldin but the terrible cap situation meant they had to make some tough choices. His numbers just didn't add up for them.

In Pats news Vereen had a broken bone in his hand on Sunday, so had surgery today, will be out a couple weeks which is a blow, but a lifeline for Ridley on Thursday.
Also Sudfeld tweaked a hamstring and is doubtful for Thursday.
We'll end up with Wilfork at WR at this rate
